This little place has great reviews but I just paid $40 for two salads served in plastic containers with low quality ingredients. The grilled chicken tastes like the grilled chicken from the frozen section in the grocery store. It's served cold and is hard. This place is amazing! My now husband (bf at the time) told me about Fancy Pantry and how much he and his brother loved it, so we had them cater our Wedding Rehearsal Dinner when we got married, and it was fantastic. I also just stopped by the restaurant to order us lunch and it was even better. I highly recommend the Salmon BLT and potato salad. If you can't find a soup, sandwich, or salad here to fit your taste buds, then you're just too picky of an eater. While the flavors aren't always what I expect from their thorough descriptions, it is nice that they add so much variety to the standard soup-sandwich-salad place. They have daily specials, which is a refreshing difference from the other such chain operations in the area. If Bubba Blue (of Forrest Gump) worked here, he would've been going on and on about side salads instead of shrimp. They've got just about every kind of side salad you can imagine to add to your sandwich: pasta salad, potato salad, thai peanut noodle salad, couscous salad, black bean & rice & corn salad, fruit salad, chopped salad, and coleslaw... and those are just the ones in the left case that I can remember. Honestly, it's more than I like to spend for lunch, but the portions are generous, so I just have to stop myself halfway through and save the rest for the next day. But if I had to pick one reason why I eat there so infrequently, it would be the price - it just makes me file Fancy Pantry in that part of my mind that isn't bad or good enough to be truly memorable. That said, when someone suggests it, I always agree. The space is cozy, and makes you feel like it's a real mom-and-pop operation, particularly since the owners name print with "Thank you" on each and every receipt. Love, love ,love this place and very much wish I had one or something like it where I live! I used to work across the street from this place and on nice days we would walk over for lunch. It was always busy, which tells you it is good food. I love that it is all made to order and fresh! They have fantastic salads and sandwiches, not to mention the desserts! I never knew they had pasta until someone visiting the area ordered it. They said the pasta dish was very good. Sadie the owner is fantastic! She is devoted to her customers. For example, we had a so so meal there last week...she gave us gift cards to come back and she said that she would check on the roast beef sandwich. We came back this week, and she told us that she did check on it and they mixed up the cheeses...we ordered the ruben and salmon club this week...Awesome! I've been here a couple times for lunch and the place is always insanely packed. It seems to be very popular with the Alpharetta housewife crowd- you'll see quite a few moms in tennis skirts. It takes effort to find a table, so I'd recommend sticking to take-out. The food is hit or miss. I like that they have three types of chicken salad (Gorgonzola, Sante Fe, or Pecan). And you get one side with your sandwich. The problem is the big crowds lead to hurried service. My chicken salad, while tasty, was served in one big ball on my rye bread. Would it really take them much time to spread it out evenly? The chicken salad and the potato salad were also too cold- probably spent too much time in the fridge. A full sandwich with a side and fountain drink ran me $9.79. This is about in line with all the other upscale sandwich places in the area. I usually like mom-and-pop places but I'll probably stick to chain restaurants when I want a sandwich, due to better atmosphere and streamlined service. read more

Wow, this place is incredible! Such fresh food, great service, and plenty of options. I can't believe I worked in this area for years before discovering Fancy Pantry! So far I can recommend: -Chicken Appleberry Salad -Veggie Bisque -Santa Fe Chicken Wrap I love a wrap, and Fancy Pantry makes a mean one. A half is big enough for lunch, since it comes with one of their awesome sides. Yum! Admittedly, I'm not huge on salads -- they can be so boring! But the Appleberry Salad is one of the best salads I've ever had. It has just the right amount of fruit, nuts, and cheese. Add some chicken for extra protein, and you're in salad heaven! This is actually the dish that inspired me to write a review. The veggie bisque is pretty good. Not the best soup in the world, but it's unbelievably creamy and tasteful for its low calorie count. Definitely worth trying! I have eaten in and picked up. I would recommend picking up, as it gets very busy during the lunch rush (12-1). And their phone ordering system is very efficient! You leave a message with your order, and they have it ready SO fast! Another random thing I love: They update their phone recording with their daily soups, so you don't even need to talk to anyone to find out what soups they have. So smart! Wow. What happened?!?! This is my first time back since pre-covid & I was shocked at the decline. This was always a nice place to come for a casual business lunches or to catch up with friends. In my opinion, it has turned into a dark, dingy & depressing place to hide from happiness. As I walked in I thought maybe they were closed or had lost power but there were in fact people making food and a 2 customers chatting at a table in the back. Placed my order on an iPod (no biggie, many places are doing that) and proceeded to the soft drink dispenser. This thing had 6 (I think) dispenser but only had stickers on 2 of them: 1 for Diet Coke and another for "SODA". Huh? Checked the other ones and they were all dispensing water of plain soda water. I sit down and it's just grimy. I look around and all the tables are like this. Please understand that this place was empty and ALL of the tables had something funky on them. Food arrives, Roast Beef Melt with a side of Broccoli Salad. Sandwich tasted okay going down; broccoli salad had the consistency of chewed cud and didn't taste much better. Got back to the office and I had a sour stomach for the rest of the day into the night. Disappointed does not begin to describe my feeling. So my boss introduced me to this place a few weeks ago and i'm loving it. Considering that I used to live and work in Manhattan, this place totally brings back memories of the NY atmosphere. The chaos mixture of hungry people waiting on their food and people preparing their food was great. The price and the portions were fair. I had the Thai Chicken Salad with 1 lb. of fruit salad. The salad made my entire lunch a pretty penny. Next time i'll just cut up my own strawberries and grapes! The desserts look awesome and I couldn't resist the Almond Bar. I paid $200 for Quiche and Quesadillas and soda and water. The prices do not match the quality of their food, especially their catered food. They even charge for Napkins, utensils and plates. You can say anything you want, positive or negative, about Fancy Pantry. All I know is that I defy you to find a seat during the 12-1 lunch hour. All those people go there for the same reason. If sandwiches are your thing, this place is good. This place has an awesome salad (as in lettuce and toppings) selection. The Thai Cobb is the best. They also have a huge selection of side salads (as in pastas, etc.), all of which are fantastic. Their sandwich selection, like everything else, is creative, offering a huge variety. I have never tried the pastries but, if looks are anywhere near correct, I suspect they live to the standard of everything else. Every day, there are specials posted, generally a sandwich and soup/salad. The sandwiches on the special are generally not from the menu and very imaginative as is the soup and always very good. I will say, however, their catering and lunch delivery business is the cornerstone of their success. John and Sadie have a special place for lunch. I suggest you try them. read more

Certainly not my neck of the woods - but I'm working at a client right across the street from Fancy Pantry, and this was the recommended lunch spot. I'm usually hate going to salad-and-sandwich lunch places - mostly because I think these places are either rife with boring menu options or overpriced for the quality/quantity of food that they offer. Luckily, Fancy Pantry was the exception to both of those norms. The layout and overall feel of the place sort of reminds me of McAlister's - they feature salads, sandwiches, wraps, baked potatoes, and quesadillas. But the similarity to McAlister's ends there. The menu offerings were surprisingly diverse and creative (e.g., Thai Chicken Cobb, Portobello Loaf, Pozole, Beer and Cheese Soup). All the sandwiches come with a pickle and choice of side salad, and the salads come with a chunk of tasty cheese bread. For an indecisive eater like me, the menu may even be a bit overwhelming - but no complaints here! Most of the choices are right in the $7-$8 range, but you're actually getting $7 - $8 worth of sandwich / salad. These things are huge and are made with high quality, fresh ingredients. The ambience ain't nothing to write home about. The seating was a mixture of plain wood tables/chairs with some green patio furniture (no kidding) thrown into the mix. Was in the mood for my uber masculine salad today so I did a little search and found the Fancy Pantry near my office. I was like YAY! deli salad! It's in a little strip mall on the corner of Old Alabama and Mansell RD. First Impression: OMG am I the only male in this place? *scans* I think I am besides the two guys behind the counter. Okay I don't have any issues with this just caught me off guard. Almost expected them to shout "PENIS ENTERING THE BUILDING" *red light flashing*.So, from now on this place is known as The Fancy Panties. I look through hoping their salad ensembles and decide on the one that is loaded with BACON! Score. They were very polite and offered the salad tossed or dressing on the side. As a precautionary measure I order it on the side. There's always that chance that the dressing is some foul concoction that was derived from the inner stomach of a yak. However to my pleasant surprise, not too bad. The salad seemed a little skimpy seeing I just paid $10 for a salad and a soda but it is however loaded with chicken cheese, egg, avocado, this little crispy things(not really sure what they are) and BACON! Oh, and a side of something known as cheese bread. All in all, not too bad. Not the best $10 salad I've ever had but definitely not the worst. The design of this place is a little confusing, it's not exactly intuitive what you do when you walk in, especially during lunch time when it's pretty crowded. But the cashier directed me to the right place. I picked something off the menu - a thanksgiving wrap type thing with turkey, cranberry, walnuts, and got the peanut noodles as my side. Had lunch here on Friday...wifey and I...while everything was acceptable, there was nothing outstanding. Wifey had the roast beef sandwich. It was...acceptable...but rather bland...like the cooks were afraid to use any seasoning. I had the Cajun Chicken Sandwich...a true cajun would not have recognized this as Cajun...again...Cajun denotes seasoning, spicy...this was, again, rather bland... As far as food goes, its fantastic.The recipes are unique and I've never had anything that isn't blow your mind good. The food is always fantastic and you can usually get in and out pretty quick. I highly recommend the Santa Fe Chicken Wrap, the Orange Pecan Chicken Salad and the Chicken Appleberry Salad. If you ever need to use them for catering, they do a terrific job as they are my "go to" vendor for nice catering (even great for lunch catering with sandwiches, etc). We have used them a few times for nice client lunches and it's great because they will bring china, silverware, table decorations, etc and best of all, they will come and clean everything up when it's all done! Fancy Pantry is my favorite casual lunch place in Alpharetta. Because my family lives up in the area and work occasionally brings me nearby, I have eaten here more than I can count, and I've enjoyed it every time. I could not agree with Angela M. more - if you can't find something here, you are definitely too picky. The menu options are endless: numerous sandwiches, wraps, salads, some soups, and the best selection of delicious prepared salads I have ever seen (sorry, Whole Foods). I personally love the chicken gorgonzola pear salad, and their balsamic vinaigrette is delicious. My family members rave about the muffaletta sandwiches, and I can't recommend the prepared salads enough. Oh, I could go on and on about the ambiance...... if you're considering moving OTP to the Alpharetta/Roswell/John's Creek area but want to see what it's like first, GO HERE. I lived in Alpharetta for 11 years, and my impression of this particular suburb can be summed up in just 30 minutes of people-watching here during the lunch hours: a very homogeneous crowd of PTA moms in tennis skirts with full makeup and highlighted hair, well-dressed business men, and many other never-divorced, churchgoing people with "My child is an Honor Student" bumper stickers slapped on their Lexus SUVs. Although it is always crowded and sometimes hard to find a table, it moves incredibly quickly, and I've never had a line at a register. The turnaround is fast, and you will get a table!
