I have been working with Brenda and Fancy feathers for almost 20 years . We have bought 2 wonderful birds from her, all of our bird seed, hundreds of dollars of toys, and she grooms all 4 of our birds. We have never been disappointed. I feel taken by the Callous pet shop owner Brenda. I bought the bird first, THEN was told to take it to the vet. It tested positive for yeast, as well as a highly contagious, often fatal illness called Psittacine beak and feather disease. It is caught by environmental means, especially when the level of critical hygiene is absent. The vet I used, For Pet's Sake, has received many incidences like this from customers' pets, and it pending plans to take possible legal action if they have enough evidence with state authorities against this pet shop. I want to echo another post that said buyer beware! I am told that Brenda, the owner, is rude and emotionless when it comes to this. No one apologized, but were stoic. My bird was 3 & 1/2 months old, totally an innocent victim of their neglect, and because of its tender age does not have a chance of survival. Now I have the cage, her playground and other things that I was not compensated for; once, even a closed bag of food with a receipt was not allowed to be returned. Brenda told me I shouldn't be in the business of owning a bird--I did nothing wrong!! I actually needed to finish the job they needed to do, which was to completely wean her! BUYER BEWARE!!!Don't buy a bird from them without asking for a vet check first. I bought a AG she has a heart issue and the owner didn't want to hear it. She admitted it had not been vetted. Yes she offered full money back for bird return when I said why so you can sell her to someone else and not inform them she said no most likely she would have her put down REALLY. Obviously she only cares about the money and not the animals. She needs to close shop please be careful dealing with her. read more

After purchasing a few toys and driving a few states to pick up our new family member, this is what I have to say about Fancy Feathers. I will be rating and giving a description on why I think that way. Staff Friendliness: 2/5 - The actual workers there were great and extremely friendly and helpful, however Brenda, the owner, was not. She rushed them through even after they had told us that they were going to teach us a few things however they did not. As we were paying Brenda was very aggressive and did not seem to care or help at all and more like we were a bother. The workers themselves were pretty helpful when they were able to be. Bird Health: 1.5/5 - My bird had extreme plucking problems and still does to this day. He had barely any tail or wing feathers and they said it was because him and his cagemate were too rough, however it feels moreso that it was himself plucking out of stress. They also clipped my birds wing's without asking, and clipped too many of his feathers. "Butchering" him as his vet called it since he didn't even have flight feathers when they clipped him. They cut straight across instead of just trimming. They also said he was weaned when he wasn't fully ready yet, but now that he's on a good diet he is recovering well from what he used to look like. Cleanliness: 3/5 - The cages were mostly clean and the store was pretty well kept especially considering the amount of birds there. Pricing: 4/5 - The pricing of most of the birds were fair. Some of the toys were a bit pricey but were of good quality. My bird is very friendly and loveable, and he is amazing to be around. However, please know what you're in for when going to this store. It was very irritating realizing that my bird was actually so stressed to the point where now he has made a habit of plucking. Overall a better option than most company brand stores though. read more

Amazing bird selection with abundance of toys and bird supplies. THIS is a bird store! Nothing for dogs or cats or any other pet. JUST birds! I loved the store . The help was fantastic. They would answer and voluntarily give information on any bird that was in their store. Need help with what kind of toys that a bird needs? They are the ones to ask. Jason, I think that was his name, he was awesome! He could tell you what toys would hold up to a birds destructive behavior and which ones were best to allow that destructive behavior to thrive. If you are a bird person, you know that a bird NEEDS to be able to destroy their toys. He could tell you which toys are for total destruction and which would hold up the longest. Don't get me wrong, you will need both types of toys to make your bird happy. And, you will have to change them up to keep the bird happy. What types of "trees" to purchase? There are some nice perches to please you and your bird. Need a cage or maybe an upgrade? This place has got it. Need a carrier for those bird trips or visit to the Veterinarian or to see other bird friends, yep, they have some to choose from. Go, enjoy the birds. read more

One star because the prices for toys are way more reasonable than other pet stores. I was FaceTiming someone and after about 5 mins they said we're not allowed to take pictures because people post them for "nefarious reasons".... What? Would those nefarious reasons be to tell other people about the black mold in the toucan cage? And before they comment and say that black mold is common in bird cages, it takes time for that to appear. Depending on their diet and moisture in the building/room. What's your comment on the bugs (mainly gnats) flying around the bird cages? What about your comment on the extremely strong cigarette smoke perfuming from what I would assume to be the owner/manager guy. The younger lady who started cleaning the bird cage after we told her about it was very nice though. read more

Really great experience buying a bird for my daughter. Brenda the owner was super helpful and friendly. She answered all my questions and made sure I left with everything I needed. All the birds looked healthy and the place was very clean. No animal smell really at all and she had a lot of birds in there. And her prices are very reasonable as well. I spoke with them on the phone for over 30 min before I arrived the following day. I was interested in a macaw. I was told about several. I asked if I could hold one. I was told that I have to put on a gown & sanitize to prevent diseases. I thought that was good protocol. The girl then handed me a gown & I gowned up. I talked for an hour with the staff about finding a macaw. They didn't have a bird that was friendly enough to me so I thanked them & left. Then I was followed out, saying I didn't pay. For what? To hold the birds. $10. WTH. He pointed to a white sign on a little strip of light colored wall between the 2 bird rooms that said $10 to hold birds. I was there for over an hour. At no point did staff ask me to pay, mention there was a charge, nothing. Even when she told me I had to gown up or when she handed me a gown. I don't mind paying $10 to hold birds to find one to fit my family. I do mind being chased out into the parking lot saying I didn't pay like I'm some thief. Humiliating your customers is bad business practice! read more

Unfortunately, you must give each business at least one star. This sham doesn't deserve stars. I visited this space in Doroville hoping to find a reasonably priced bird cage. The woman who is apparently the owner was on the phone and I was assisted by an older gentleman. I found a cage and asked about the price. I was quoted a price and told "she might go down." I agreed to the price and asked for a cage in a box to fit in the car. I was informed they had no boxed cages. As I was leaving the parking lot the man came out and said the woman would deliver the cage. I called her and arranged for delivery the following day. She then informed me that I could rent a truck at Home Depot and pick it up myself. I had already informed her that I am disabled and do not drive. She quoted a price but wasn't sure of the cage I was interested in. After a week of lies and false promises, I ordered a cage from Amazon for half the price and no attitude. This place is a dump and this b%*ch doesn't give a rat's ass about birds or running an honest business. read more
