Went here on a Saturday afternoon. Service felt rushed. The walls are dirty. Food was cold and poorly put together.

It's always a pleasant experience anytime I visit this location. The staff is always friendly, attentive and the food is always delicious. It's a crap shoot with other locations, namely University. I think I will stick to this one since it's never done me wrong. read more

Famous Toastery is one of our go to places for brunch. I actually surprised myself this time ordering something other than French toast. I ordered the grilled chicken and bacon wrap but swapped the honey mustard for ranch. It was surprisingly good for a wrap. The Mac and cheese was amazing. My husband and I got the mimosa flight as well. Wild berry, pomegranate, mango, and passion fruit. Honestly could have done without the mango but that's no fault to them. Well, after all the hype I always hear about Famous Toastery I finally decided to give it a try. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing but it was just average at best. Nothing stood out about the decor, so not really going to review that. The waiters and waitresses were all super, super friendly, so 5 stars in that category. The interesting thing to note here, is that you are not really assigned one waiter/waitress, whomever is close by and available will assist you, which is pretty cool because you are never really waiting a long time. Now on to the food. We ordered hot chocolate, stuffed French toast with strawberries and cream cheese, a breakfast burrito with chopped bacon added and the Turkey & Brie Melt. Hot chocolate was just water and chocolate powder, nothing exciting. Thank god for the salsa for the burrito unless that would have been very bland. The best thing out of it all was the French toast. The French toast was nice and light and the strawberries and cream cheese had the perfect amount of sweetness. I have been to several of their locations and haven't had issues at any of them. My favorite thing about going here is the mimosa flights! They are really good! I order one every time. The food here is really good as well. The candied bacon and breakfast potatoes are my favorite sides! The shrimp and grits are another hit! Service is always pretty good but they are always busy so the food usually takes a bit to come out which is fine as long as you walk in with that expectation. Came here on a Sunday morning with the fam. Plenty of parking available. We had only been to the other location, Davidson. Just like the Davidson location, this place was very busy. Even the lobby was full. However, our party of three were seated within 15-20 minutes. At Famous Toastery, every server is your server. Once seated, we had a server take our drink orders and bring us cornbread and apple butter. Another server took our orders shortly after. We ordered the following: Two Eggs $5.49 + Bacon $3.29 Build Your Own Omelet $10.99 Churro French Toast $10.99 Side of Eggs (2) ~$3 Side of Bacon $3.29 Coffee $2.29 My son ordered the Two Eggs entree with grits and a side of bacon. He was very pleased with his order. My husband had the Build Your Own Omelet and added various vegetables. He was happy with his order as well. I ordered the Churro French Toast with a side of eggs and bacon. The churro french toast was dipped in cinnamon and sugar then topped with a sweet cream glaze. It was fantastic! It was on their special menu of the day and they need to add it to their permanent menu! It was the group favorite. My eggs were cooked to my liking, my bacon could have been crispier (I asked for extra crispy), but that's okay. The entire meal was still delicious. We had a nice experience and left very full. I tried Famous Toastery with my husband on a Saturday since a few people we know have eaten there and said it was good. We had breakfast: pancakes, bacon (husband), sausage (myself). It was very ordinary. In fact, I like my husband's home made pancakes better. The staff was pleasant and the place itself was comfortable, but at around $11.00 for a so-so pancake and a side item, I think we will pass on this one going forward. Too many other restaurants with tastier breakfast for a more reasonable price. Since we only tried breakfast here you might try something different and have a better experience. read more

Decided to have brunch with the family here Saturday while visiting Great Wolf Lodge for the weekend. The only downside to today's visit was the wait. We had a party of 6 adults and two children and our wait was 1 hour. It's was explained to us that the wait was so long only because they were waiting for other parties to leave so that they could push together tables for us. I didn't see a "join the waitlist" option on Yelp or Google prior to visiting, that would have made things a lot easier for us. Aside from the wait our visit was great. Waitress was really nice and helped with food and drink suggestions. We had Rumosas, Hawaiian Sunrise, And Apple Cider Mimosa. Drinks were delicious and well balanced. Food was also delicious. I had the Western Omelette with a side of potatoes which were probably my favorite. Omelet was a nice size and gad enough filling. I also had an apple cinnamon pancake. My boyfriend had the biscuits and sausage gravy. Everyone else had the Breakfast combo which they all enjoyed as well. I would definitely revisit this location again! read more

We almost left when we first arrived after finding out they weren't serving shrimp and grits, but Jeff delivered and brought out some grits to sample for the person at our table that wanted that dish. Done! Never coming back. Too expensive for way the kitchen treats the customers. My husband talked me into going after our last two bad experiences -- maybe they've changed he said. Nope, nada, no way... How is it that a kitchen can put hot food on cold plates? Interesting the potatoes, bacon and toast were cold - my husband's toast wasn't even toasted and it was refrigerator cold... yet the eggs were hot? Is there something in a prep line sequence that creates this situation? Perhaps a perfect place for food bacteria to grow? The last time we were here and I complained about the cold food and the colder plate the server took my plate and the kitchen transferred the food to a hot plate - that's it. The plate was warm but the food was still cold. When I pushed it aside the server looked astonished and walked away. Food service like this for two at $30 does not warrant a return visit. read more

I was not sure what to order since it was my first time, so I asked the server and she was very helpful and gave recommendations. At the Branchview location, had to wait and wait to be seated while watching the two girls behind the bar talking and laughing. Everytime I was asked a question about if everything was OK she would be behind my back so I had to turn around to communicate. The food was just ok, I expected the items to be fresh and not yesterdays biscuit. The juice was overflowing out if the glass and the server didn't wipe up the spill she made. I could handle all that but not when after I had paid my bill another server came running after me to across the parking lot for me to pay my bill. Don't they communicate? We came in for a late breakfast on Monday. It definitely wasn't busy like the weekends, so no wait. Everyone was SO friendly. I don't even know who our server was, we had so many people come and assist us. That's such great customer service! I ordered an egg white omelet with avocado, green peppers, and onion. It was delicious!! There was so much avocado, which is uncommon. I was only able to eat half! I ordered it with wheat bread and fruit, but it came out with potatoes and rye which was quickly replaced. Everything was so tasty! I am literally so angry I can barely think I sat there for almost an hour the server already came up to me and said she forgot my order which is fine because I've been a waiter before Between Staffing issues and covid I get it. so then I wait on additional 15 to 20 minutes and no order came out people who sat after me got there my food. Finished and left. I walk up to let my server know I'm leaving and she looks at me and said Hey did you get your food? I let her know that I'm leaving and she's like OK bye. I don't know what your issue is I don't know if it was because I was a single diner and she didn't think she was gonna get a good tip I don't know. Went to this place on Sunday morning, the wait time is horrible so make sure you list yourself on the waitlist from the google. I had an side order of breakfast potatoes which had big and small cuts. The big cuts were not thoroughly cooked but the small ones tasted awesome as they were well done. Also tried their orange juice, highly recommended as they freshly squeeze it at their location. No bottles preservatives BS so you can taste the difference. Tried their Mimosa too but, i founded it little off chemistry.Mimosa should be easy like Sunday mornings but this one was more champagne and some traces of orange juice. I gotta function all day man, cant be drunk with a mimosa. This is a good place if you make the right choices. The vibe is great to meet friend and family breakfast. Gem in NC y'all better do it! This place is worth visiting I can't wait to go back to NC just to have a mimosa which knocked my socks off best one I have had in years. The spot is large indoor outdoor but the day I went it was hot so indoors we go. The wait staff is amazing and I love the we all take of the guest idea. There is no assigned host to a table they work as a team genius. They get A plus for customer service which is highly important to me. The place is really big there can be large parties due to the space. The breakfast was delish I was so hungry I didn't even take pics so that says it all. I tried this location this morning with my wife and daughter for the first time. It was pretty good. We had to wait about 20-25 minutes but it was worth it. The restaurant is clean and inviting. It is spacious and well decorated. The waiting area was comfortable. The restrooms were clean. The service was a little odd. It seems that every employee tends to every table. Nobody has a server dedicated to their party. Our service ended up being okay, though. Someone brought us a basket of small cornbread slices when we were first seated that was pretty good. The food was good. I got the Florentine Benedict. The poached eggs were just slightly overdone. It was still good. I got a side of grits. The grits were perfectly seasoned. I didn't need to add salt or butter to them. My daughter got a latte. She also ordered a wrap with a side of mashed potatoes. They were wonderful. The mashed potatoes weren't from flakes. They were mashed redskin potatoes and had a great flavor. My wife ordered an omelette with a side of fresh fruit. After our meal we all agreed that we made a good choice of restaurant. Not a good place for black people or people of color. A white couple that came in after my family (interracial couples w/ children) & requested to sit at the bar because they couldn't wait, was seated at a table before us. Secondly, the waitresses were very unattractive to my family and other black families that hat raised their hands to get a waitresses attention, but white families, the waitresses were constantly at their tables making sure they were taken care of. after receiving our order, my daughter's drink was missing, when I inquired about the drink & asked for more coffee, there was attitude. She brought my daughter's milk, but forgot our coffee. Raising my hand again to get attention, the waitresses kept walking by as if they didn't want to serve us until I said something. I've never been to this location before, but hadn't had the best food at others spots. Clearly it was not my first choice, but it was Sunday and early, so options were limited. This was the best experience I'd had out of all my visits. I was pleased with my breakfast. It was very busy, but we got there early enough that we did not have a wait I had an egg sandwich and potatoes. Everything tasted good. The servers were nice and kept on top of things. Although I love this place and the food is always great and all the waiters and servers are very friendly. my experience yesterday on April 10th Sunday morning was just unpleasant . I Have a new born baby and a kid and since there was absolutely no one sitting in that "to go waiting area" since there is absolutely no where else to stand or wait in there.. I even asked an employee if I could sit there bc I have a new born baby and they said yes.. but the general manager "Brad" made sure to tell us that we couldn't sit there so I was forced to stand up with my baby and kid or wait out side in the cold weather. I've honestly never been to a restaurant where you are are forced to wait outside or leave? The whole 30 min I stood up standing there not one person sat there and that really really upset me. I would have told the general manager this myself but since he disappeared after saying that too us the whole time we were there..but everyone else looked like they were working very hard.. Best Service of any of the Toast / Famous Toastery Locations My wife loves the Davidson location which is still a Toast and the second one they opened. My problem here has always been the service and the extraordinary long wait times, both to get a table and then once you're seated, the wait thereafter. We walked into this location at 11:00 am after Church and they were in full swing. Parking lot was packed and people were waiting for people to leave to grab a parking spot. Walked in with trepidation. The waiting area was packed as was the rest of the restaurant and patio area. My wife asked how long a wait and was told 15- 20 minutes. Based on experience, my answer was I have to see it to believe it. Had a seat in the waiting area and had a complimentary cup of coffee and 10 minutes later our name was called. Talk about a pleasant shock. We were promptly seated, menus presented along with the complimentary corn bread, and beverage orders for our teas taken. This chain is having fun with the 2016 Presidential Elections. At least some one has a sense of humor. When we ate at the Famous Toastery at University City, I had the Trumplet which is an Omelet stuffed with meatloaf. This time at this location, I ordered the Bernie Scramble with is Scrambled Eggs with Salmon, Cream Cheese and Capers along with Sauted Vegetables as a side. Great variation on Lox and Bagles and it was very creative and more importantly, very tasty. My wife was more traditional and had the Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes which is one of her favorites. Needless to say, we both enjoyed our meal. Still can not say enough about how well this restaurant is run. Even with restaurants with reputations for excellent service, good customer flow management, this one is one of the best I have ever seen. Excellent Restaurant and we will be back.
