So glad I took my daughter up on the invite for lunch here. Place was packed but the wait was not bad at all. Our server was great, very attentive and told us all about the specials. My daughter got one of the specials the Banana Pudding Pancakes. She said they were delicious. Her roommate got eggs biscuit and hashbrowns and said they were also great. I had the Shrimp and Grits. They were some of the best shrimp and grits I have ever had. I really wanted to try to chicken and waffles but it looked like such a large serving that I will have to save that for another time. NOT dog friendly even on their fly infested parking lot patio. I drove extra miles for outdoor seating as it was 100° out and I couldn't leave my dog in the car. (traveling across country can't leave him at home). Thank you metro... If it wasn't for your lack of accommodation I would not have discovered RISE café 1 exit away! Metro diner is an experience. There are several locations and this one is just tucked away in a strip mall in Huntersville. So not quite as exciting as the one downtown, but you're still gonna get good service and good diner food. It's nothing over-the-top, but it does hit the spot. This location is a bit tight inside, but there is plenty of seating. They also have a very nice outside patio. So will you be blown away? No, but you'll come away with a full belly and satisfied. read more

Metro is truly a good place where there's something for everyone; anytime of the day. You can breakfast all day along with dinner. The food and service is outstanding. This is one of my favorites if not THE favorite place to eat. You can literally eat every meal here if you had to, which I have because of having to stay at the hospital across the street for an extended time with family. Breakfast, lunch and dinner and everything in-between. Their real cooked grits are excellent just by themselves. Grab a waffle too while you're there, you won't be sorry. I wish they would open one in Mooresville, Troutman and/or Statesville. We need a location north of Huntersville badly!!! read more

First timers here. My wife and I decided to try this place. For dinner. My wife has seen the sign that said "Eggs Benedict" and she loves those. She chose the eggs Benedict with ham and hash browns and I got the turkey dinner plate - came with very good green beans, stuffing l, mashed potato's with gravy and cranberry sauce. They don't scrimp on the portions. We saw some other tables getting the chicken and waffles... Crazy huge. We are definitely going back ... great home cooked food. Can't wait! In fact the manager stopped by the table and checked in with us and I asked if they could accommodate 9 people... response... no problem. Saw a strong weekend brunch crowd as I entered Metro Diner just before 10 on a Saturday. During our 15 minute wait for a table I could review the specials on the chalkboard and see others eating at tables, booths, and a few seats at the counter. Service was quick and friendly and my coffee cup never went below half full. The s'mores waffle was the highlight of the meal - a sweet, decadent, and crunchy treat. On 4/24/26 I ordered 1/2 rack of ribs and my family ordered their meals. The order was picked up. My ribs were horrible, they were so dry with hardly any meat on them. I ate one and the rest I threw in the garbage . So very disappointed. Vickie read more

Came here for an early dinner and left really happy to finally try this place. The waffle was crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The strawberry butter is a home run! The chicken was juicy and flavorful. Everything came out piping hot which is a plus. The only thing I will say is that the server brought our check after about two bites. We stopped here on our way home from Charlotte. We had seen the positive reviews. We were looking for something conveniently located to the highway and decided to stop in. Located in a shopping complex anchored by a Publix, it is easy to find and parking is sufficient. When we walked in there were quite a few tables seated and even a few people picking up to go orders but no one else was standing waiting to be seated. We were acknowledged by a couple of employees and told they would be with us as soon as possible. As we waited a few minutes it appeared they were not short staffed and everyone appeared to be running around, however it felt like they should have been able to help us and the other people who walked in after us quicker. It felt somewhat disorganized. We were taken to a table and provided menus but it took another several minutes until our server stopped in and took our drink orders. Our server was friendly and we placed our orders. My wife used the restroom and reported it was clean and well stocked. Our food arrived in a timely manner and looked good. My wife ordered the meat lovers omelet with no cheese, homefries and a biscuit. I ordered the breakfast burger with homefries. Our only real complaint was the homefries appeared to be frozen and not freshly grilled like we were hoping for. My wife commented her omelet was stuffed full of meat and tasted fresh. The food was good but the overall service wasn't up to par in our opinion. We may try another location in the future but won't rush to try again. read more

There are so many positives about this restaurant. They were SLAMMED on Sunday morning - standing room only. They told me my wait would be 15 minutes and it was 8. They got me served and outta there within 45 minutes of my arrival! Jessica was a kind and attentive server. This is clearly a super popular regional spot. For me, my dish was really bland. I've been wanting a taste of home lately, so I took my grandson to Metro Diner in Huntersville as a treat. (I'm from Jax FL where the original one is.) They did not disappoint! To quote my precocious grandson, "This is pretty fancy for a diner!" But it was familiar inside and very clean. We were greeted almost instantly and sat immediately. The whole time we were there, it stayed busy but not chaotic. Grandson loved that the waiter treated him like an adult. He ordered the Meats Lovers Omelette with biscuit and cheesy grits. That omelette was filled with meat and very delicious. He loved every bite. He thought the grits were average and I ended up bringing the biscuit home. With so many breakfast choices, it was hard for me to pick one. I ended up choosing the Fried Chicken Benedict. It was cooked just like I remembered their other Benedicts, absolutely perfect. The egg was poached expertly, with solid white and runny yolk. The fried chicken was tender and savory, and the hollandaise sauce was smooth and creamy. The hash brown potatoes were average. The food was very good...and it came out quickly. Noone was disappointed with their meal. If there is something that you are interested in but don't see it on the menu be sure to ask the server because they can typically make what you are interested in. This is a cute neighborhood place, the staff was super friendly and accommodating and our server easily rolled with our humor which is always a plus. The selection for options was great. We ordered the cheese fries as an app for the table. They were very good, the seasoning was good and the ranch was pretty good too. Three of us ordered breakfast and one ordered a sandwich. The French toast pancakes (I am told) were delicious and my husband loved his sandwich. I ordered biscuits and gravy breakfast and while the biscuits and gravy was good, it wasn't hot. I chose the western omelet for my brunch meal. A solid portion, well stuffed and topped with mild salsa, with hash browns and whole wheat toast. There's a lot of food here for sure. Tip: Head to the Metro Diner website and join their program. They sent a 50% off coupon for my entree and it's always great to save $7 or so on breakfast.
