Dude, the sign said it's open and I got extremely excited especially by the potent smell of the place that I ran over to order a few dozen but to my disappointment, it was closed. WtF! Sad times .

Some friends brought donuts over a while back. And one of the donuts was blue. My kid has been asking for a blue donut ever since. So on Saturday morning i schlepped to this spot with my kid only to walk in and discover (gasp) no blue donuts. The kind woman there didn't bat an eye and said she'd make me some. She did and because the icing was still wet for the transport home she gave my kid another donut (white with sprinkles). i can't rave enough for the service. Three cheers for famous donuts.

Standard donut spot, so so donuts, good selection and nice staff. The donuts were fluffy and not overly fried but they didn't go big on taste or flavors. The apple fritter had all the I ingredients for yummy but they didn't come together quite right. The chocolate sprinkled was tasty but again just a fluffy donut, not rich with chocolate flavor? If you live close or are driving by it is worth a stop but nothing to go out of your way for.

I just finished enjoying a burrito at Alejandro's and saw that this shop was still open, now it was time for some dessert. I went in and saw a good looking cinnamon roll and bought that to eat in the morning with my coffee. That didn't last long as I started picking at it and finished it before getting home, yes it was that yummy. read more

Nice little spot i have driven by many times and finally made the choice to come through. Picked up a crumb bear claw. It was good size and delicious. The prices were good and people were nice. I will probably go back to try more items when jm in the area. read more

limited options and donuts and if you are going to pay Apple Pay be expected to pay more than what is told to you! I got charged an additional $2. was told my total was $10.76, but got charged $12.76. no receipt was offered or given to me, she just kept saying thank you! read more

election is very very limited... says 24 hours but nothing after 10:00 pm. Why are they even open if they aren't going to have good selections? Also, I went and the door was closed I figured the window next to the street but a fellow patron had to tell me, the man inside saw me but completely ignored me and let me stand outside while I was looking inside. Kind of rude that a customer had to explain the window on the side to order instead of the worker inside, doing whatever he could to avoid me looking inside. read more

My boyfriend and I stumbled across Famous Donuts while we were in the area. Location isn't great and the store seemed really empty :( We decided to peek in and a nice little lady helped us choose some donuts. Not going to lie, the interior of the store doesn't look that clean but the lady helping us was really sweet. Taste-wise, it was okay... Granted, it was probably 6 or 7pm but if you open a donut shop, you should always have fresh donuts. Might come back if I'm in the area. read more

I haven't tried anything else but their croissants. My favorite chocolate croissants in all of OC... can't say in the world since you could find an amazing croissant anywhere in Paris! =P Like everyone said - it's a mom and pop shop and cash only. So don't expect hipster customer service. You would think at this point people would stop getting offended or shocked when an old asian dude doesn't greet you. More than likely weren't born here and just trying to make a living. For what they provide I think they do a great job and I'll continue to come here when I want a good croissant! read more

Service here is always friendly and welcoming, it shows in their donuts. Come early because the donut holes here which are so delicious runs out quickly. I'm a big fan of their ham and cheese over some pier side donut shop nearby. Their bacon croissants are pretty good too. This is my go to shop when I have a few minutes to spare and get my coworkers a lil something before work always a good way to start out the day and earning a donut after a workout! read more

Great little donut shop! Always fast service when you need to get in and out. The owners is So sweet and always greets you with a smile. The donuts are delicious and the croissants are the Best! (You Must try the Ham and Jalepeno) It's definitely your neighborhood family owned donut shop. Lots of "regulars" come and sometimes a line out the door! I always come here for there hard boil eggs, coffee, and donuts. I live right next door. But yesterday night was the last time I'll ever set foot in this crappy place. There are good people who work here during the day and morning But. The Old guy who makes all the doe in the night I came over to grab some donuts and a hard boiled eggs. I was very polite to the old guy but he was a complete A-Hole to me! As I told him what I wanted he just walked away and continued to do what he was doing like he didn't even care. I asked again for help with what I wanted and he had turned around again and told me to F-Off! Like wtf what kind of place is this I can't believe they would turn me down a regular customer who lives next door who comes everyday. Can't believe it. The donuts are good here. Sometimes they're out of the donut holes which sucks cause that's what I really like him sometimes or donuts or a little dry but other than that it's really close to my house and great price they also do like a half dozen only five bucks so that's not bad. read more

Donuts are exceptionally crisp without being oily. I've tried the chocolate old fashion fresh with soft ganache spilling off of it. If you can get it then it's worth all the calories for sure! My normal order is a maple bar or glaze twist with a large coffee (comes out for less than $6 and it's cheaper if you pay in cash). It's basically cheaper or as cheap than Starbucks but you get to support a local business, the ladies who run the store are very kind and sweet, and the quality absolutely dunks on any other donut shop or Starbucks that I've tried.

Easily one of the best breakfast burritos I've had in Orange County. I also appreciated that it didn't feel overly greasy or heavy the way breakfast burritos sometimes do. The space definitely gets crowded, especially on weekends, and finding a seat can take some patience. But honestly, grabbing a coffee and one of these burritos and hanging out for a bit is completely worth it. This is officially one of my go to breakfast spots in Costa Mesa.
