I can't believe I've never reviewed one of my favorite places to eat in the Twin Cities. I've been coming to this location for about 20 years. This particular evening my family and I were greeted by the most respectful and courteous young ladies. They were attentive and patient. They never rushed as our big family placed their order. The food was excellent as always. My leg quarter seemed a tad bit undercooked but the rest of the meal was scrumptious. As long as they're open we'll always visit this location as we love everything about it. The nostalgic feel of yesteryear is great ambiance. Keep up the good work!!!

Stopped in to pick up some delish pie for Christmas! They carry the old Baker's Square pies and we had to grab a French silk. Staff was super helpful and attentive right when I walked in. I did not stay to eat but as always, Famous Dave's was clean and comfortable. The pie was delish! Def recommend!

Another good experience at Famous Dave's - 4 stars. This is clearly one of the OG Famous Dave's full-service restaurant locations, complete with all of the awesome vintage decor. And they're right next door to Mickey's Diner, a true Twin Cities icon. Despite their old school status....and despite the fact that I've driven by this place 100s of times over the decades...this was my first time ever visit. Again, it was a good. I've never had a bad experience at any Famous Dave's location. And the 7th Street location didn't disappoint. The food was good, the service was good, and the décor is impressive. They have 100s of antiques and vintage things hanging all over the place. Very cool! LOW CARB: It's easy to eat low carbohydrate carnivore style at Famous Dave's. You can buy various meats by the pound. They don't force you to purchase plant based sides. Nice! I got a full pound of beef brisket. Thumbs up! -Maxx

Solid location. Famous Dave's is a chain, and this one is an "order at the counter and they bring the food to you" kind of spot. Looks like you can reserve tables here because we went when a group was having a party, but even then, service was pretty good. I love Famous Dave's bbq sauces and pulled pork. Wilbur's beans is also pretty good- nice and smoky. Although i liked the mac and cheese, there is corn in it, which was def a surprise. I've been spoiled by Kansas City BBQ, so it's hard to find a good match in the Twin Cities but it's a good spot if you are craving bbq.

    All the sauces!

I know, I know. How could Famous Dave's get a five-star review from ME of all people? Well, they've returned to making good barbecue. We got the two-meat tray with St. Louis Ribs and Rib Tips. Sorry, we're rib-loving people, so we'll take them in pretty much any form we can get them. We ended up just eating the tips, because it's a rather generous portion. I'll be eating my ribs for dinner. We both also got broccoli. We do love their broccoli because they don't over cook it. A little black pepper on it, and it's perfect. I got the beans, to give them a try. I don't actually like baked beans, so it was a risk. I was reminded why I don't like them. Well, they appear to be pinto beans, which I hate all by themselves. The beans weren't terrible, tbh. I just don't like this dish, so we can't blame FD for that. The rib tips are great. They're meaty and a good size. I like to try the different sauce combinations when eating them. My favorite is the Sweet & Zesty mixed with the Devil's Pit. You can also never go wrong with the Rich & Sassy, of course. The service was quick and friendly, and I'm happy that Dave's has returned the focus on good food. Oh, the Sweet Tea is SUPER SWEET, so mix it with the unsweetened tea. If you're in this area, give this Minnesota staple a try. If you go on Thursday, they have all-you-can-eat rib tips!

Decent counter service style restaurant that was virtually empty at lunchtime on a Sunday. Snagged a couple lunch combos, mine was brisket & tenders, hubby had pork & tenders. Both were very enjoyable. The young lady responsible for running the front counter was frequently MIA & there was no way of getting her attention. I realize good help is hard to find nowadays, and employees are often doing double duty, but as the only front of house staff member, she should've been standing up front and completing tasks, not hiding in the back frequently.

Years ago We used to go to linden hills famous Dave's and it was always awesome. Progress closed them down. Sad. Bloomington sucked and closed. Tried this location three times in recent months and they've been good. The st Louis style ribs been great so are the fries and the lunch $9 hickory chicken sandwich +1 side was surprisingly really good. Give em a whirl!

This spot never disappoints. The Slad was meaty, great smoke and delicious!!! Cornbread muffins- always always always so yummy! You want to keep eating all of the !

Burnt dried out and hard smoked jalapeno cheddar sausage

I have had problems with this restaurant before before, but today I picked up my order, got to work open my container and my smoked sausage was burnt, dried out, and hard from being over cook. Should have wait until I tasted all of my food the rib tips taste old and bad the chicken wing were burnt as well it seems the cook can't cook without burning the food

    STEVE B.

Energetic front order crew - bring your patience tho as ain't nobody in a hurry here. :) Love the old school decor with collectibles and nostalgic photos. Giant burger was awesome and we loved the smoked turkey sandwiches. Great home brewed (I think) iced-tea.

How have I not yet written a review of any Famous Dave's location? Once in a while I will cheer myself up by cramming down some quality meat, usually at this location, and it routinely does the job. This time I got a two-meat lunch, which comes with one side and with more modest portions than the dinner version. It was over ten bucks, and I couldn't help but think about how other barbecue places give you a lot more food for ten bucks. But this food is GOOD. The meat is always really nicely cooked, and every side dish I've tried has been great. This time it was the mac & cheese, which is made very interesting with the addition of corn & peppers. And then there are all those sauces. No other barbecue place in the Twin Cities has such excellent sauces. I always make sure to try them all, eventually settling on the one that wins me over on that particular visit to squirt all over whatever is left. You know what I don't like? The paper they serve the food on. They give you an old metal tray, which is separated from your food by a thin sheet of wax paper. So when you cut your meat with a knife and fork, it cuts up the paper and those little bits of paper threaten to get into your bite. There MUST be a better way. But I still sometimes like to come to Famous Dave's for that yummy meat and sauce and other stuff.

It is in the Mac-Groveland neighborhood so there is ample street parking nearby if you turn on any of the side streets. The restaurant does get busy at dinner, so I recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They have many unique options for cocktails and mocktails. I opted for the Slaychel which is a non-alcoholic beverage that I think of as an elevated mimosa. It is fruity, slightly tart, and delicious! The service was great! Our water was frequently refilled and never got empty, and our server asked about any allergies and dietary restrictions before we ordered. They were able to modify menu items to fit the different dietary restrictions! Two people in our party (including myself) are vegetarians and one member is gluten-free and also doesn't consume much dairy or eggs. They were able to serve the patatas bravas with the egg on the side and the grilled asparagus with the egg and cheese on the side so we were able to all share the starters. The patatas bravas were wonderful! The potatoes are perfectly crispy but still fluffy. The tomato sauce was slightly smokey and had a very slight kick (think Minnesota spice) and it balanced out well with the creamy tomato. If you're only going to try one appetizer, this is the one to try! The asparagus was also nice. The salsa verde had a slight kick (a bit more than the tomato sauce from the patatas bravas, but not super spicy. Still Minnesota level of spice). The shallots also added a nice crispy texture to the dish! The egg really stood out in this dish, with its runny yolk and batter coating. There were a lot of nice elements and textures. As for pastas, I split the Spaghetti and Radiatore with a friend. The Radiatore was nutty and tangy, and the serving size was generous. I enjoyed it, but I would order the Spaghetti over it any day! I don't even know how to describe the Spaghetti and do it justice. It was creamy, cheesy, delicious. Our server said it was a staff favorite, and I understand why. If you're looking for a vegetarian option, go with this one!! Even if you aren't a vegetarian, give it a try. It's so classic, and it's done so well. For dessert: they give free churros when you're dining in! They are served warm with a chocolate drizzle. We also ordered the Honey Cake which we enjoyed a lot! The cake itself was light, like a mousse. There was some crunch from the hazelnut praline and honeycomb toffee pieces. It was nutty and sweet but not overly sweet. It was a perfect way to finish off the meal! Estelle was delicious and the service was great! I can't wait to come back!

Walking inside the first thing I noticed was the lack of decor and warmth in this place. The pictures are hanging up spaced unevenly. The boards above the booths are not screwed into the wall. It honestly looks and feels tacky. There is a lack of decor and the lighting is too harsh. It feels like someone is moving out. Our server and the other employees, are the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars. They were absolutely lovely and helped one another out. Our water glasses were filled multiple times and our server was very sweet. The food: we started with a beer and mojito. The beer was good. The Mojito was too strong and too sweet. It was really strange... Then we had the lobster bisque. It was very peppery and lacked flavor. There was only one piece of lobster and it had a strange after taste to it. The jerk chicken nachos were awesome is flavor but sooo greasy. See the pictures. I got the hot chicken and waffles. The texture of the chicken was great!! And the waffles were tasty! But these chicken tenders are very spicy and I could only get through half the meal. I would love if you could pick a non spicy version!! My boyfriend got a lobster roll and said it was good not great and the fries were pretty standard. We will not be back to this location. If you want to try this place, I would recommend the Bloomington location!

First off, going through the hidden Coke machine entrance is actually really fun and makes the whole place feel like a little adventure. The decor and speakeasy atmosphere are definitely the standout. Very cool space. VERY loud though. Like "lean across the table and say WHAT?" loud at times. The waitress was super nice and recommended a mocktail for me that called Ass in the Sand. It ended up being really good. It tasted like an elevated lemonade and was probably one of my favorite parts of the meal. Started with the rolls and whipped honey butter which were delicious. Very soft, warm, and honestly dangerous because I could've just kept eating bread all night. For the main meal, I did the Wagyu Burger with Parmesan fries. The burger itself was okay but surprisingly didn't have a ton of flavor outside of the grilled/charred taste. The Parmesan fries were actually the standout for me -- hand cut fries and parmesan fries are just hard to mess up. My partner tried the Mushroom Soup en Croute and wasn't a fan because the mushrooms were blended and he said it lacked flavor. He also had a Steak Taco special using their medallion steak and said even with lime it still needed more flavor. Finished with Crème Brûlée which is always a classic favorite for me and this one was good. Overall: fun experience, cool hidden entrance, great decor, good mocktail and bread, but the actual food menu is pretty limited and the flavors didn't totally wow me for the price. Glad I went and finally crossed it off my list, but probably a one-and-done visit for me.
