Had the lunch meat combos. Brisket is always excellent anf the chopped pork and burnt ends are tasty as well. And the corn muffins always delight! Oh and for dessert lovers the bread pudding is AMAZING. Service a bit slow and the floor was sticky but the food was terrific. read more

I don't know why I keep coming back here, every time I do it's a total miss. My family used to buy the feast platters back in the day for mothers and Father's Day, but we haven't done it in so long. We decided to try it today for Mother's Day and it was the worst decision ever. I placed my order on the app on Saturday afternoon, for pick up on Sunday at 4:15 PM. I got to the restaurant at exactly pick up time and there was almost a dozen people standing in the waiting area. I finally got up to the counter and gave the girl my name, and she turned around and looked at the table and then said we're working on that. I was very aware that it's a holiday and it was going to be very busy, so I walked in with patience because I knew that I would probably have to wait a little bit. The same couple of people stayed in the waiting area, but there were several that were coming in and out and picking up food as well. It was very confusing. One gal finally walked up and asked for an update on her order, and the girl behind the counter said that they had to fulfill all of their dine in orders first, and they were just now getting started on all of the go orders. I cut in and said, how is that fair to everybody who placed pick up orders for an exact time? Some of us have been waiting here for almost an hour. The girl looked at me and said that they were doing the best that they could, and it's like this every year. If it's like this every year, why aren't you changing and adapting to better suit the needs of the customers who are coming to provide business to you? If it's the same every year, clearly something is not working and there needs to be changed. The girl did not apologize, there was no manager out there to help her at the counter, or reassure the customers that their food was coming. There was zero communication. I finally got my food after about an hour of being there waiting. I was very close to canceling, but it ended up coming out. Mind you, I had a homemade cake in my trunk that was melting. When I finally got to my destination where my family was, we didn't have barbecue sauce, and all of the food was room temperature at best. What a terrible experience and a waste of $100. read more

We ordered takeout and opted for their baby back ribs with a 2-meat combo. We got to the restaurant minutes after placing our order and were pretty impressed that we didn't have to wait long for the food. I knew better. The ratings was low however I felt its a chain, how bad could it be? The layout is slightly different than other Famous Daves, very open Ann not a lot of booths. We decided to sit in the bar in a booth since there were two very large groups having dinner in the restaurant. The bar was cool, the waitress was very polite. Everything went smooth with the order until it came out. THE FOOD... How could a barbecue place mess up ribs? Easy, bake them. The ribs were not smoked or cooked on the grill. They were tough and overcooked. The rib tips were cooked properly which was the saving grace of the dinner. The sides were nice, they know how to do Cole Slaw. It was savory and sweet. The Wilbur beans were full of meat. Portions are smaller than I would like however they are within reason. I haven't given up on Famous Daves, it will be my last barbecue choice now. read more

The barbecued chicken was dry and impossible to eat even dipped in sauce. The corn was mushy and tasteless. The ribs were on the dry side as well. Sadly the salmon on the plank told the same story. Plenty of parking and lots of seating. The space was clean, roomy, and surprisingly quiet for a Friday night. I kicked things off with the Wild BBQ Berry Margarita--flavorful and refreshing. We shared the 3-meat plate with pulled pork, brisket, and chicken. Sides were two loaded baked potatoes and an extra cornbread muffin. While everything tasted good overall, the portions felt a bit smaller than I remembered (though it's been a while since my last visit). Compared to other BBQ spots, the pulled pork was a little dry and definitely needed sauce. Brisket leaned fatty but was juicy and tender. The chicken (¼ cut) was flavorful and perfectly cooked. There was a hiccup with our order--only one baked potato arrived. When we asked, the server admitted she had no idea why it was missing, but quickly followed up. Turns out the kitchen was out, and it would've been a wait. She offered to sub in mashed potatoes and even threw in a banana pudding to go for the inconvenience--huge props for the thoughtful recovery. Felt like being Independence Day besides hot dogs and hamburgers nothing is more American than barbecue food. So I decided to check out Famous Dave's as they are known around the valley is one of the good barbecue establishments. This was kind of a mixed bag for me. I got a barbecue roasted chicken and it was really good except it had 20 g of sugar in it and I have no clue except for the seasoning maybe they put on the chicken skin but that really blew my mind. The Spareribs were pretty good except that they were a little bit fatty. I got the beans which were probably the best part of the meals they had a lot of heat and really a nice sweet flavor to them without a whole lot of sugar and steam broccoli which kind of came out lukewarm. The service was fine and the food came out fast enough. Got to be careful what you order here and make sure you check the carbs in the sugar content on the meats and the sides. It was okay for the bariatric side as there wasn't a whole lot of stuff that really screwed me up but But the carbs and the sugar did kind of surprise me. It's not what it used to be. I thought these ribs were going to be juicy until I bit into them. Luckily, I don't have dentures. They were so hard and so stale that when the waiter amends over, I beat on them with a knife and it sounded like wood. They did take it off of our bill, however, I ended up having to go and get food somewhere else after we left there but I couldn't even eat it, I felt sick to my stomach all night from the few bites that I had. The waitress did not greet us and was a little harsh when serving drinks and plates but was not mean. She was not on a rush because there were only a couple of tables to take care of. The food took a little longer than it would in a similar chain restaurant, I wouldn't mind the extra wait if the food was fresh but the Mac & Cheese seemed old like it was preheated, same thing with the mashed potatoes. I got the burnt ends and I was not impressed. The were diced chunks of meat. The flavor was okay but I just don't like the dice cut, a strip would have been better, and less if the sauce. We gave up on the chain when we lived back in IL, but have found redemption here in AZ. Food: Unless someone tells me otherwise, this is the BEST place in the valley for baby back ribs! For some odd reason, every BBQ place here seems to only serve spare ribs. Salads and other proteins are ok for the rest of the fam, but I come here for the full slab. The portion is not that big, but I still manage to have a few bones left over to eat them cold for breakfast the next day. Long-time Famous Dave's fan here. Sorry to say it but the food quality here has slipped significantly. Most noticable is the beef brisket has gone from looking like it was just freshly sliced after smoking with the character pink outer ring, to the look of something that has been sitting for a long time in a steamer or warmer, with a congealed and slimy brown appearance. Another reviewer recently accurately decribed it as having a precooked/processed look to it. Another thing that I have noticed my last 2 trips is that the whole restaurant used to have the wonderful smoky aroma of various meats being freshly smoked. That no longer is the case! So how are they doing bbq there these days? The ribs were somewhat better, but again didn't taste freshly smoked, and had a congealed texture to the meat. Corn bread muffins were their usual terrific great flavor. Wilbur beans were good with smoked meat in them. My wife had a baked potato that was slightly undercooked, and my son had pulled chicken that looked pretty bad, but he said tasted okay. Corn on the cob was not served with butter. Had to ask the server for it after she disappeared from our table for over 15 minutes after the food had been served and was cold. This Peoria, AZ location used to be packed with customers on the weekends especially, but now notice a huge dropoff in business. Plastic utensils and thin paper napkins now being provided to dine in customers, which I thought was a bit cheesy for having a total dinner bill of over $85.00+tip and tax for 3 adults and a child. In the past, we have only order to go from here for family gatherings. My husband wanted BBQ for his birthday and it was just the two of us, so we dined in. The food was much better than I remember it being. The Tuesday deal for the feast for 2 is a steal. The ribs were tender and the brisket was amazing. Love the French fries. It wasn't busy at all and our server who was also the bartender was great. The only negative thing I will say is that it smelled like dirty mop water throughout the restaurant and that was not appealing. I see why there was not a line here to for dinner! First we were at the Cheesecake Factory and it was 45 min wait. We were like next door looks good let go. The table seems dirty when we were sited. The server came by after awhile wait. We ordered both our drink and food order. We got our table wiped and then our drinks. Food came shortly, it looked good but tasteless. Just was not a fan of this place. We sat immediately, and then it took approximately 6 minutes for our server to greet us. They sat us near the Togo area, and for whatever reason, there is this extremely loud buffeting wind sound. Maybe it is the smoker? I am not sure, but you don't hear it in other parts of the restaurant. We order a 3 meat and a 2 meat plate and some sides. I had the burnt ends, brisket and pulled pork, my wife had the catfish strips and pulled pork. She ordered a side of chili and peach cobbler, I had chili and Mac and cheese. The food overall just wasn't great. My wife enjoyed her catfish but felt 1 piece was good and the next would be dry and tasteless. Her meal came without the peach cobbler and had fries, this was quickly corrected. She thought the pork was OK, but wasn't great compared to other BBQ places. My brisket was just not good, it tasted like it was sitting in some cheap brown gravy sauce all day and was rubbery. You can see the burnt ends in the pic, but it looks like you get maybe 2oz of meat and they are 1inch cubes. You have to pay extra for them and not only do you get a very small amount, but they don't look good and taste worse. It blows my mind that I can get way better pre-made from Costco and I just have to microwave them. My pork was good and I enjoyed their house sauces. The Mac and cheese was OK, just not my style. The chili and the peach cobbler was amazing. I would order both in bulk for a party and claim ad my own. Overall, I probably won't be back, outside maybe Togo chili or cobbler as frankly they are a 20+ minute drive for me and there are just too many other options that I feel are worth the money. read more

Decided to go here for lunch today since we were in the area and wanted to try something we haven't had in a long while. Walked in and was greeted and seated immediately. Greeter was very friendly. Ambiance was good and it wasn't too noisy inside. Once seated our waitress was quick to check in on us and offer to take our drink orders, however we weren't ready yet. A few mins later another gal comes over and asks for our drink orders. I let her know someone else already came over. We were told that the other gal made a mistake and we weren't her table. We put in our orders and food came out in a timely matter. Food quality was fine, no real issues besides one of our sides wasn't correct but they were quick to fix it. Where they failed was when it came time to check out. Our waitress comes over and says our total and said I can take your card when you are ready. She didn't leave us a bill, just told us a number and walked off. She comes back moments later and asked if we were ready to pay. Sure, do we have a check? She says it's all digital on her handheld. I said well I'd like to see our check before over my card. She quickly scrolls over the items and I immediately noticed she had charged us for drinks that were included with the meals. So we had multiple drinks we were being billed for that we weren't supposed to be billed for. I mention it and she says "oh that's a glitch we have with our system, I'll see if I can get the manager to take it off or not" what do you mean see if he will... the charge shouldn't be there since drinks are included with the kids meal per your table menu! She comes back and says she was able to get it removed and made it sound like she was pulling some strings to do us a favor. So I again ask for a check and she says it doesn't print until she takes our card. So I let her charge the card and she says ok thanks have a great day and attempts to leave. I again had to remind her I wanted a print out of our bill. She finally brings it over only for me to see she overcharged us for food too. We ordered the lunch specials that were $10 yet she charged me $16. I walked over to the front desk and asked for a manager. The manager came out quick and said he would fix it. It took him longer than expected but eventually came back and said he got it resolved. I felt the practices here with the bill are a bit shady. Who hands over their card without seeing a bill. And how many times have o heard stories of servers adding stuff on above what should have been charged only to go back and charge the bill so that those extras end up being an addition tip. This all rubbed me really wrong. Food wasn't bad but the billing practice is something that needs improved upon. read more

Catfish fingers had no seasoning. Famous fries were famously under seasoned. Jalapeno Mac and cheese wasn't even close to spicy and was bland. The have remodeled the place which looks very good inside and staff pretty friendly as well with questions that customers might have . But as far as the food not so good first we waited a while to get our food and it came out cold and for BBQ THATS A NO NO ... second the portions are very small now I ordered a 3 meat combo . South side rib tips , beef brisket, and chicken tenders. Two tenders , four pieces of rib tips , and chopped brisket that my wife's baked potato had more . Totally not worth the price .
