This is my absolute go-to spot! I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon Family Spa--especially living so close by. I make it a point to come at least once a month, or anytime tension builds up and I get a knot in my neck. The rooms are always clean, calming, and well-kept, which makes the experience even better. They offer great deep tissue massages! Definitely ask for Kelly! She has an incredible ability to detect muscle tightness and really targets the problem areas with the perfect amount of pressure. Jason is incredible! I made an appointment last minute and I was lucky enough to get a chair massage for my neck and shoulders with Jason. I told him where I was having trouble and he listened and was super attentive the whole time. He kept checking in to make sure the pressure was OK, and boy is he strong! This was My first time getting a full body massage and Amy was amazing. She asked how I was doing a couple of times, reassuring everything was okay. And it definitely was. I continue to go to this place weekly and will rarely see anyone else but Amy. I tried Aaron and he's really good for getting knots out - but just like nearly everyone else here besides Amy - everyone massages as if they're exfoliating your skin or are in a hurry. I don't understand the super fast movements. I want to relax, not feel like I'm being scrubbed. Will I continue to come here? Absolutely. I come nearly every week. But I will only book Amy because her technique is honestly so relaxing. read more

English! Do you speak it? We made an appointment for a couples massage for 6 pm. They offered 1 male and 1 female masseuse, which was fine. We show up at 6:00 only to be told schedule-a-full. What? We have an appointment! So we agreed to come back at 6:30 and they told us there would only be two female masseuses available. Fine! We agreed. Now we go back at 6:30 only to be told the couples room is full and we would have to have our massages in separate rooms. Total lack of communication due to language barrier. We won't be back. If quality is anything like booking experience, it can't be good. read more

Fun little unexpected spot in Pleasant Hill to relax or have a nice little date. They have open air or covered hot tubs and a sauna. You can pick the temperature of the hot tubs if you prefer hot or a little more lukewarm. Had a massage years ago and mine was wonderful while my partners was a little bizarre with lots and lots of talking throughout. read more

She always goes above and beyond--adding hot stones, stretching, and even some light exercises for me to do at home to help with my shoulder and neck pain from working at desk all day and lifting weights. I almost don't want to tell you how great this place is because I want to always get in whenever I want! They are great at accommodating same day last minute appointments. The front desk person is so kind and gentle and the massages are always wonderful. I see Aaron and he does an amazing job. I don't know how he always knows what on me needs the extra work but he sure does. I have a lot of arthritis and pain issues and getting a massage makes a big difference - especially when I am in a flare up. I prefer deep tissue but make sure you tell him what you prefer. He is sensitive to what you require. The neighborhood is not the best (though it's gotten much better) but Family Spa is a hidden gem! read more

The Good: *Family Spa was very accommodating. I came at 9:20 after a long work week and they set me up with no problem. The establishment is very very very clean! Room smelt fresh and linens looked almost new and crisp. My experience was an hour, on the dot, right from the moment my massage therapist first started. The Ok: *There was no form or conversation about what it'd like. My masseuse didn't take the time to ask if pressure was ok or where I'd like to focus. Instead I took the time during the massage to let them know they could apply more pressure and also where I'd like to focus. *I believe that maybe because of the time I visited, my therapist had a lack of energy. There were constant yawns and a misbalance of pressure from one side of my body compared to the other. *They did try and hit all the spots of your typical full body massage at similar spas. This was my first time and well worth the price you pay compared to other spas in the area. I'll need to come by again when it isn't so late. read more

Fantastic experience. I was able to walk in!! I called ahead, but they let me know they had anytime available. Flexibility 10/10 The staff is friendly and professional. English is not their first language, so some patience is needed while communicating. I got the 90 minute combination foot (30 min) and full body (60 min) massage. Amy did a great job, very strong and thorough. My room was very nice, clean and well decorated with digital fire place and room for a reclining chair for the foot massage. Angelina is the very nice manager. She recommended that we call one day ahead for an appointment to ensure no wait time. If you walk in there is no guarantee for immediate massage.
