LIFE CHANGING Before seeing Lisa, due to incessant, constant chronic pain, if death were to have come my way - I, honestly, might have seen it as a relief. The day I walked into Lisa's business about a year ago, I was a completely different person. I was 53 years-old, yet I walked like an elderly person. I had a large dowager's hump and could not stand straight. I was 50 lbs. heavier. And though I had so many things for which I was grateful, quietly, my pain made me miserable. The worst part was I had completely lost hope that I would EVER feel better. (Why would this small woman help me, when years and years of physical therapy, specialists, surgeons, neck, spinal and sacrum injections, and countless medications hadn't?) I had a constant chronic headache since 1986 (every second of every day). I'd get debilitating migraines on top of the constant headache pain. In 2008, I was in a really bad car accident (a truck came through my side of the car and, essentially, through me - completely twisting my pelvis and sacrum.) Afterwards, I ended up dragging my left leg for nearly three years. The physical trauma of the accident activated dormant fibromyalgia. So, not only was I dealing with the constant head and back issues, but every single joint in my body hurt. My body felt like a giant bruise. Then, in 2020, I got Covid, which led to Long Covid, and it greatly intensified the fibromyalgia inflammation. Through the years, I still tried to remain active, and would push myself to do physical activities (like renovating our home). But often, I'd find myself holding back tears. And if I did physical work during the day, I'd pay for it by being in excruciating pain all night. Despite my high tolerance for pain (living with chronic pain will do that for you), my first visit with Lisa was probably one of the most physically painful experiences of my life. (She told me later she thought I would never return.) Well, thankfully I did. With every visit, she has expertly and diligently been working away at the countless years of built-up inflammation and dangerous, blood-restricting knots. Every person (doctors, specialists, etc.) who had previously touched me said I had the worst knots they'd ever touched (especially about my neck and head). Once, a chiropractor even began to cry, and said, "Oh my god, how can you live like this?" Before, no matter how great something was in my life, my pain was always forefront in my brain. It was like trying to enjoy a beautiful painting through smudged, scratched, broken glasses ... in the dark ... in the fog. Now, I can actually enjoy my life. I can be more present for my husband, his kids, our dog, and my friends. I can actually enjoy vacations. I am now able to do physical work all day long, and instead of my back being in constant pain, I am actually kind of surprised if something hurts. I still have a slight headache, but I remind myself that Lisa is working through 38 years worth of garbage in my body. I never thought I'd find ANY relief, whatsoever, for my headache. I now can stand completely straight. I no longer have an unsightly, painful dowager's hump. And I've lost 50 lbs. (I believe this is not only due to my ability to increase physical activity, but due to Lisa working so much inflammation out of my body. She actually works up a sweat while working on me.) If you suffer from pain, and are lucky enough to get an appointment with her, DO IT. And while you're lying there on the table, experiencing the searing pain caused by her freakishly strong hands, ask yourself, "Okay, would I rather go through this ONE HOUR of pain - or be in pain for the REST of my LIFE?" I'll take an hour of pain any day. In addition to her years of experience and expert deep tissue massages, Lisa is, hands-down, one of the best humans I've ever met. She's incredibly honest, caring, often hilarious, and hard working. She gives everyone her all. There is absolutely no doubt she feels that her true calling on this earth is to help others. She is a true healer - in every sense of the word. I can't even think of a proper way to express my gratitude. I now actually have hope that one day (soon even) I'll be completely pain free. It has been 4 years since I first started going to Morning Star Spa, and I highly recommend this place - this is why: I injured my lower back over 15 years ago during a moving accident, and every few months I would suffer from antalgic gait if I over-exert myself by just the slightest bit, or sit down for too long... napping on the sofa isn't even an option. I have seen several doctors / therapists for PT; the exercises didn't do much, and when the pain actually flares up, icing and heating does very little to help. When the pain gets bad, I would become immobile and the only option were painkillers or muscle relaxants unless I want to wait at least several weeks, if not months, just for the pain to subside. Every day was filled with stress as I had to constantly evaluate whether I would aggravate my condition doing just about anything. During a particular bad case, my sister recommended Morning Star Spa to me as she had been going there herself. I was skeptical at first, but I really didn't have much of a choice at that point - I had already been bedridden for almost a week, and could only barely move around after 2 more weeks of full rest. Lisa was very direct and told me that in the condition I was in, it would take several visits. She also noted that she isn't going to be able to magically fix everything, but will do her best, and that it would be fairly intense since a lot of force would be required... she wasn't kidding. In additional to being extremely skilled, Lisa is also surprisingly strong; saying that she hammered out the unevenness in my back would not be an understatement. I could definitely tell from the pressure applied, it wasn't meant to be a relaxing massage, but one that focused on treating problems. By the end of the first session, there was some mild relief, although I was also extremely sore. I wasn't sure if it was just because my muscles were stiff for so long due to being unable to move. But by the second session, a significant amount of the pain was gone and I could more or less walk and stand up straight if I moved slowly. This was amazing since recovering close to this point naturally took much, much longer. By the end of the third session and the next week, I felt I was almost back to normal, with just a tiny bit of dull ache lingering where sharp pains used to be. The fact that I was mobile again in such a short amount of time was absolutely incredible. Furthermore, rather than just simply treating the symptoms, Lisa was also somehow able to address the root of my problem ; since after the initial treatments, I have been able to stay active longer, and also seem to have a better "warning sense" on when I am starting to over-exert myself (instead of sudden pain as the only indicator). This greatly reduced my daily stress knowing that I am more free to do what I want, rather than guess at what I can do. It is hard to express my gratitude in words for Lisa's care, but she is a wonderful healer and I know I will continue to go to Morning Star Spa. read more

They set me up with an appointment for the same day and even texted me a reminder. My neck and hamstrings had taken a nice beating from jiujitsu and kettlebell swings. I just got a massage from Lisa at morning star spa. I've been reading the reviews and they almost seem too good to be true well it's the truth. The space is very clean and neutral, you can tell The level of standards of any institution by going to the bathroom and seeing just how clean it is; there's a Persian rug in there! In a nutshell Lisa found my sore spot on my back, acknowledged my scoliosis and immediately identified and started working on it. This morning I was on my back in pain unable to really bend over or stand up I'm not saying that you're going to get a miracle solution but it's the closest thing you're going to get for a one hour actionable service on external body. The neuropathy in my fingers and toes has subsided and there's lots of feeling it started during the massage and I am a believer and a customer what a great resource to have locally. My husband is an avid practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. About eight months ago he sustained a neck injury. He was seeing a chiropractor and another masseuse. It's a business office area on Treat Blvd next to the fire station. The rooms are nice and quiet. This is a very nice, clean and professional place. Lisa does a really strong deep tissue massage. She will ask you how you are doing throughout the massage and she makes sure the pressure is right. She knows just where to find those knots. I called first to make an appt. and the lady told me $75 an hour come now. I immediately dropped what I was doing and rushed over there. I'd just gotten home from work and was dressed nice, hair nice, and she starts telling me how expensive they are and other places in the area where cheaper. When I asked about any place he would recommend, he gladly provided another resource with their address , phone number and directions.
