This is long overdue . IMy daughter and I have been coming here for years. We usually come when we feel pains or aches due to sports working, or travel and occasional migraines on my part. . Francis has always been amazing. He knows and feels the pain points and almost always provides immediate relief. Today I came with tightness and pain on my right hip . I've done exercises, stretching, yoga, and the tightness was still there.. After my usual hour long combo massage Francis worked on my right hip and lo and behold the tightness was gone after suffering for a few weeks. First time here, I was taken to a large shared room with 10+ beds, just be aware this isn't a private setting. The lighting and music were nice, but a ticking clock next to me made it hard to relax. During the service, multiple staff rotated in and out, I had three different people massaging me. The massage felt too rough and overall chaotic rather than calming. I was asked to pay before the service, and when I tipped 15% at the end, the therapist seemed disappointed. I would never normally disparage a business like this but I feel like a warning is necessary. I had a full body massage yesterday and the masseuse was SO rough with me that I repeatedly asked him to please be softer with the pressure. An inordinate amount of the massage was him DIGGING his elbows into my back. It was so painful I couldn't breathe. I used to come here frequently. It was a great relaxing experience at a good price. I didn't mind the shared space as everyone was respectful and quiet. That's until today.. Came with my daughter and husband. Hoping to get a relaxing massage as I've had a stressful couple months with ongoing health issues. I called to make an appointment, we were set at 4. 30ins later, I was asked to come at 430 but I said that's too late. She agreed to 415. We arrived at 410, only to wait 10 mins as there were no available masseuse. Sat for another 10 mins in the shared room and our massages started at 445. My masseuse had great strength, no complaints there. The other 2 working on my husband and daughter just couldn't stop talking. I find that rude, inconsiderate and unprofessional. I'm paying cash for a service that should be delivered. I'm not one to sleep during a massage so yes ... You will be feeling the dirty stares from me as you ruin the hour that I paid for. I'm no Karen.... I just expect a decent service that was prepaid. And they shouldn't assume customers are sleeping. There's a difference between sleeping and relaxed. New Year's Eve I booked a one hour full body massage at 5:30pm. I had called in an appointment around 2pm. When I arrived I gave her my credit card to pay. She rang up "$80.00". For a one hour massage that has been $65.00 cash or $70.00 credit card. I said "what's this? You made a mistake." She said " it's New Yeas Eve and we need to pay the rent". What? So that makes it ok to make up your price after people show up for a scheduled appointment? She said nothing on the phone about a surcharge. She waited until I arrived and then just charged my credit card more! And to add insult to injury, the masseuse only did my backside. Although I keep saying I need to turn over she kept pushing me down on the table. When I finally turned over she said "your time's up" and pointed to the clock. Also, I've noticed the masseuse(s) have been getting rougher and this time I had to tell this one (LuLu) five times to lighten up, not so rough, not so hard, etc... she kept applying pressure to my lower back and hip "bones", not the muscles. As if she was trying to hurt me. Really hard. And I now have a big bruise on my right inside elbow/arm where she pushed too hard. I'm in my late 60's. Someone can really hurt you if they push too hard. Even break or fracture a bone. Be careful of these masseuses. The hell with this business. I've been coming there for years and this is how they NOW treat me - a regular good customers. This business has bad business practices, unethical behavior, bad customer service, and is not giving customers what they paid for "a full body massage", not just a backside massage. There are a lot of massage parlors out there! If customers are going to pay full body massage rates, then we will go to a real spa facility and get a "real" trained and certify masseuse! And I pride myself a connoisseur of reflexology (foot massage). I have been getting reflexology once a week for about 15 years now. It is so beneficial for your health. Back to the review... There are 3 things I request when I book a foot massage. 1. Do not wear gloves. 2. A non-smoking masseuse. 3. Deep pressure Lin was my masseuese. He met all 3 of my requirements. He was great from beginning to end. I felt very cared for. He was laser focused on my massage. He knew every pressure point to work on. He also did great stretches afterwards. I will definitely be back when I am in the Walnut Creek area and I will request Lin. He is the best i've ever had! And please tip well. I gave him $20.00 for a 60 min massage. I prepaid $200.00 before the massage started. 30 minutes into the massage a loud argument broke out between the receptionist and one of the massage employees. I was told by a couple different friends to try this place. I walked in last Wed. to make an apt. to come in with my husband on Sat. I told the lady at reception we need to ensure 1 female masseuse for my husband and I will take either gender. The day of my appointment the reception called me about 30 min. prior to my appointment to ask me to to come 15 min. later since they are running behind. I was already in the area so just waited around and then showed up when she asked. I still had to wait a few minutes and she acted like we were bothering her that we showed up for our appointment. She then asked me to pay which I did on my credit card and told her I will tip after the service in cash. She charged us for the combo service for both my husband and I and after a few more minutes we were led back to the room. They sent in 2 male masseuses and my husband had to tell them he booked for a female masseuse. The lady from the front came back in asking what the problem is and we reminded her of our request upon booking the appointment. They did send in a female masseuse for me husband. Both of us felt the massages were just okay on the legs and feet and that the back massage was not a massage at all - more just pressing down in various areas. My masseuse minimally touched my head and my husbands masseuse didn't touch his head at all during the treatment. When we were leaving I told the receptionist again that I wanted to tip with cash and had the cash in hand which she pointed to the man I had and said to give directly to him. I told her and the man this is the tip for both of us and we went on our way. Today I noticed that the receptionist charged my credit card an additional $20. My receipt shows the total, yet my credit card statement online shows it as being charged $20 more than what my receipt shows. I was willing to give this place another try after the so so service yesterday, even with the negative vibe from the staff and their loud talking back and forth to one another despite having signs to patrons that read "quiet please", but after this credit card situation I will NEVER return here again - Shady and rude not to mention stealing from us is a combo I will not accept and everyone should beware. I am writing after my third visit. My previous visits werent pleasant but I thought I'd give them another shot and was once again disappointed. The person massaging me came in smelling like an ashtray just after her smoke break and nails weren't trimmed and I kept feeling her scratching while rubbing my back. After about ten minutes I had to cut it short and told them I have to leave. The manager came in the room and they then had an arguement while I was laying there. Employees scream at each other and not in English, they are not trained to give massages but worse of all, it's not sanitary, the sheet were not changed and when I asked they just put another sheet on top that covered 1/2 the area I was going to lay in. This place is great for a quick pick me up. It's not a white robe cup of tea spa, but it's conveniently located downtown Walnut Creek and offer two locations a couple doors down from each other. THey are a clean and affordable spa. I actually have even tried them out when I was pregnant. I personally think I like their reflexology massages better than their full body massages. I was able to get an appt the same day for one hour reflexology massage. It was 40 mins feet and legs and 20 mins head neck and back! I felt so great by the time it was over. Off the bat I was shocked at how expensive it was for a reflexology foot spa massage. I got #1 which is $47 and includes only feet and shoulders for 60min. There was a sign saying to tip $20. If you dislike rubber glove burns on your neck, then you better cough up another $10 for lotion. -Back in SJ it was $20 for full body/60min, this included aromatherapy massage lotion, lavender heat pad for shoulders, heated blankets for you back, and a cup of tea when done. None of that is offered at Head 2 Toe. The massage was AWFUL, sharp elbow poking randomly into my body. I left in so much pain I haven't been able to move. My neck is so stiff I can't move it. Twelve hours later and I'm still in a ton of pain, my neck, shoulders, and back are in excruciating pain. Why do people overpay for awful service/product in Walnut Creek? We used to go here before the pandemic and they were amazing. Ever since COVID they have gone down hill! Higher pricing, masseuses act annoyed to be there, and they charge you for an hour but only do the massage for about 45 min. They also ask you for a tip before you even start! This place is amazing! I love going here for several reasons! The massages are always amazing and I always leave feeling so relaxed and refreshed! I am always greeted by someone at the front desk who is friendly! You fill out a short survey and can indicate areas you don't want massaged or areas you want the masseuse to focus on. The prices of the massages are also really reasonable. You pay a little less if you pay cash instead of using a credit card. I have not found another place that is this reasonable price wise that gives such great massages! It's also next to a lot of other nice shops/restaurants so you can make a date day or a girls day out of it if you would like. If I could give this a zero ranking I would. I hate to say that but I am extremely frustrated with the masseuse that I had. I had her before and and didn't realize they sent her in to until too late. Basically she spent 15 minutes using a cushion towel to massage me with her elbows that have extreme cartilage displacement so it sounded like bucket of rocks rolling over my back and it felt disgusting. After letting this go on for 10 mins I asked her to stop and let her know I was done but she promised the oil would feel better. But that was not the case she bathed me in oil and just rubbed on my back no pressure ( which I did ask for hard ) and she kept saying her hands were hurting which I am sure is the case. I could not enjoy for that reason alone knowing she hands were killing her. I eventually had to tell her to stop and I was done. i asked for the hot towel for clean up but she failed to wipe down my neck and back was still oily. I had been going to head to toe for 10 years but after Covid the level of masseuses has gone down hill to the point I don't go there anymore. When I left there was no offer of free massage in the future considering I had over 30 mins left in my massage. They only offered to have someone give me a back massage. A terrible way to end my anniversary night. I usually come here after work with friends and historically it's been pretty decent. I'm in healthcare and to give you perspective I get massages every week. Yesterday I had the worst reflexology appointment I have ever had. I had one person about to start. He left, didn't return and left his dirty gloves on the ottoman and several minutes later another person came. My friend had already started and I was still waiting. The pressure was weak, my massage therapist kept talking as more people filled the room and laughed when a gentleman asked for a female therapist. He didn't do the same routine on either side and followed the other massage therapist that started on my friend several minutes earlier. I received a weak massage and the time was significantly shorter than my friend who was right beside me. I don't know what happened to this place but it's not as clean or professional as it used to be. I told the front desk clerk that my massage was extremely short and she didn't say anything I still tipped him well but my friend was so angry she didn't tip her guy much in protest after the front desk person didn't acknowledge my comment. I found the experience very unusual. You pay ahead of time... cash is cheaper than credit, didn't have issue with that. You're whisked away to a room with 7 beds where others are having a massage, they want you to put your belongings in a tub then when you lay down they cover your eyes with a cloth ...I found this very odd. Lights were low and felt a little creepy for me. Prices looked decent and so did the reviews, so I bookmarked it and went! Located a few blocks away from The Cheesecake Factory on Locust, and next to a lot of food spots, was Head 2 Toe. It doesn't really stand out and scream, "Look Here!", but they did have a sign posted outside with their current deals that you surely wouldn't miss if you were walking down that sidewalk. I entered a few minutes after noon, and was greeted promptly. I asked if they had any package in specific that would focus on my neck, shoulders and back.. and the receptionist (whose English was better than most, not to be rude) eagerly pointed to a board on their wall with a 60 minute massage package (30 foot reflexology, 30 neck/shoulder/back) for $35. I thought, why not?! So she asked if I was paying cash or card (slight fee if using card), and broke a $20 for me per my request. Then walked me through the doors and right into the foot reflexology lounge chair room. It was dimly lit with a red light, and had 7 chairs. She led me to the last chair, showed me where my plastic bucket was for my belongings, and then she stepped out. I got comfortable and my masseuse Will came in and got my plastic lined bucket of warmish-hot water and my feet settled, then covered my body with two towels. He began with massaging my face, temples and such, then moved to the top of my head. Knocked off a star for sure because of the cigarette scent that lightly lingered on his hands. (This is a yucky smell to me and also triggers my asthma if strong enough.) From there, it went to the back of my head, nape of my neck and then my neck and shoulders/shoulder blades. And after about 10 minutes, he moved the bucket and dried my feet. I was not impressed with the cold lotion, cooler than room temperature. Foot massage had good pressure, very routine-like massage. It wasn't the best foot reflexology, but it was good.. definitely woke from my snore once. I was not happy with the cold lotion though, and he used a good amount of lotion.. massaged up to my knees. After the foot reflexology, he left to get rid of the water bucket that he had placed to the side and got hot towels to wipe the lotion off. Then massaged up to my thighs. Lastly, he lifted the two towels off of me and had me flip over. Then he massaged from my head to my lower back, mainly focusing on my mid-back.. It was just "okay." I felt less effort as he continued on, and his pressure had lightened. Overall, I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.. but if I'm in the area with time to spare and a need for a massage, I'd check out the deals they have for that day.
