Just had my 1st massage at this place with Emily, she was amazing! Pro: Did a great job at reading my body and understanding what needed to be done to relieve some really bad tension in my upper body! Love her she was super sweet! Con: I did originally go in with hopes on the massage being more foot massage focused but was recommended the full body and accepted which I am not upset about at all but my feet were def left out and that's really what I wanted. Next time I'll ask for more feet, but my shoulders feel great! I'm also not too big of a fan of being asked to leave more of a tip than the 20% I was already leaving. Been going to plus one spa for a few years now and over the years it's been consistent and my go to spot for a good massage. The remodel with the space is great! Appreciate the clean, well decorated private rooms. Plus one spa is easy to book online and the prices are very reasonable. Discounted price if you pay cash. Plenty of parking and in a safe neighborhood. Coco does amazing massages! Always on time, courteous, friendly and applies the perfect amount of pressure during her sessions. I do an excessive amount of exercise each week and am very picky when it comes to massage therapists but Coco is just perfect! Just to give you some insight as what to expect. It's not going to be a Burke Williams experience. But the massage is solid, probably too much for a lot of people. This place is clean, has several private rooms for body massages, and few chairs for foot massages in the main area. The ladies are all mid-age welcoming Chinese ladies, legit massage place and nothing inappropriate that I can tell. The price can not be beat. $60/60 mins, $90/90mins etc. The massage: you start off in a private room with a heated massage table. They start massaging you with sheets on first, then they massage you by exposing body parts. They're true masseuse - using arms, body weight and lots of strong hands to work out the knots. You need to tell them if it's uncomfortable so they can lighten up. But their normal level of massage is probably more than most people want. They offered hot stones, which I declined as I was severely burned once before at another establishment (not sure if it's extra charge). Lotion used was a thick unscented cream, which I like as I'm allergic to some scented stuff. The place was nice and quiet, easy parking, not busy with lots of clients. It's a no frills place that gets the job done. Would come back and ask for the lighter massage next time. read more

Most of the masseuse here are good. What I don't like is that I cant use my own oil. I prefer to use my oil, as it has it has therapeutic benefits. I brought a lavender scented massage oil and I was told I can't use it? Really? I don't particularly like the lotion/oil they use. read more

Horrible experience. The lady must have went in and out of the room about a dozen times which made for a less than relaxing time. One of the times, she left for over ten minutes! When she finally came back, she said "Oh you opted for the 90 minutes?" Obviously this was not communicated from the beginning. I guess I could have overlooked that aspect. But the technique of the massage itself was horrific. I've probably gotten hundreds of massages in my life and this was one of the worst. The lady asked if she could massage my head and I agreed. I didn't think she also would be pulling my hair while doing so. She also put an excessive amount of pressure on my neck area despite my claiming discomfort multiple times. I do love getting a face massage - you know the type where the emphasis is on the bony prominences around your temple, eyebrows and cheekbones? Yeah that didn't happen here. She massaged my cheeks and rubbed her hands across my face uncomfortably. It was baffling and made me uneasy to say the least. The cherry on top was that this place not only demands a tip, but will ask for MORE if they think it's not enough. I'm not against tipping for services rendered, but the audacity to demand more for such a subpar experience was truly bold of them. For what it's worth - the lady I had was maybe new? I've been here a couples times before with no issues but I've never had her. The taller/skinny Chinese woman who worked on me soured this experience enough to never want to return. From professionalism to massage techniques to demanding of additional tip; there's just too many other massage places to go to settle for this place. As others mentioned, it may be "good value" but we'd be happy to pay extra at another place with better professionalism & technique. Never again. read more

Nina gave me THE BEST MASSAGE I EVER HAD!!! I've had about 30 massages in my life... And Plus One really knows how it's done. I've been here about 4 times before and I keep making the commute from Oakland because they are THAT good. They are also reasonably priced too... You can't beat it. Nina asked throughout the massage if the pressure was OK (if you like a DEEP massage, she will go above and beyond for you!!), didn't take any breaks during the massage and was constantly working on my back, gave me the option to not turn over as she noticed my back and neck were really tight, and REALLY focused on getting a ton of knots out. The other massage places tend to just rub the skin and not get any knots out. Not only is Nina super kind and a fantastic worker, but the owner Cindy is amazing as well!! She said it was the BEST massage she's EVER had and believe me, she's a big critic. Maybe I should've said something beforehand when I came in...but I prefer that the hosts at least read the online request in advance when I make an appointment for something. Plus One Spa was a solid choice for my first massage in 18 months. I'll admit that the place did not make a good first impression: I arrived about 10 minutes early for my appointment this Sunday expecting to have to complete some kind of in-take process. It's what I'm used to from getting massages monthly for nearly a decade. But another customer was already waiting at the counter, and no one was available to greet us. They were short staffed. I think it was about 15 minutes after my scheduled time before I was all settled in. Perhaps an earlier client arrived late and messed up the flow of things. Once I got settled in, the experience improved immensely. The vibe of the place is not fancy but it's definitely clean, peaceful, and calming. The massage was a little more intense than I'm used to. At the same time, it's been a while since I had a deep tissue massage done. Overall, it's just what I needed to treat myself to a reset after all the desk time I've endured with the rise of remote work. I believe my massage therapist's name was Lily, and I'd definitely book with her again in the future. One feature I liked that I haven't experienced at other massage places is getting wiped down with a hot towel before turning over for the second half of the massage. I think it helped with my circulation and also just felt refreshing. The spa also has a clean and spacious bathroom, and the water served at the end helped me keep my post-massage bliss through my 10-minute drive home and beyond. I love this place! It's become my go-to spa if I want to get a full-body massage and schedule it for the same day. I honestly don't understand how people can book a massage weeks or a month in advance... if I need one I need one now! But anyway, I've gone to this place several times at this point and my husband has gone with me a few times as well. Both of us have had great experiences. My husband and I have always gone to either Mary or Lily whenever we go. Both give great massages. My most recent was from Lily and I didn't even need to tell her that I needed work around my neck and shoulders. She just started feeling around my back initially and picked up that was the tense area pretty quick, so she focused on that throughout the session. The pressure of the massage can be a bit strong from time to time, but it's a good kind of strong that's relaxing and not remotely painful. I've definitely paid for more expensive massages before that left me in pain afterwards... this is definitely not the case here. Also, another nice bonus that I love about this place: You can get Hot Stones added to your massage for free! Which I love because that's never an extra that I pay for with a massage, so it's nice that I can get it here free of any extra charge. read more

I believe this is my 4th time and I've always had a great massage experience, but the newest masseuse, Emily, just knocked it out of the park!!! I have to admit that she didn't hold back when I said I prefer hard vs soft, I was overdue and wanted to let her do what was needed, but if you want to be pampered instead of rejuvenated, I would ask for medium or soft. I found out after that Emily has 17 years experience (wasn't at all surprised). She asked if I was okay with her standing on my back (using her feet to massage). Since it's not my first time at the rodeo, I agreed without hesitation. I literally slept like a baby last night and plan to see Emily every 2 weeks (or sooner if needed). Finally, since moving from Long Beach to the Bay Area a year and half ago, I've found someone as good (or better) than my masseuse of many years. Thanks Emily!!! read more

Plus One was the most pleasant of surprises. My mom and I came here with a groupon (which btw was a great price) and loved our experience. At first we were skeptical, as the premises were small and it didn't look like your traditional luxurious spa. However... One of the best massages I've had in a long time. I was impressed by the quality of massage at plus one. I usually just get a foot massage at any of the reflexology places because that's their strong suit and the body massage is usually a disappointment. Based on Yelp reviews I opted to try the body massage at Plus One and I recommend it. It's not quite the quality of massages that are twice or three times the price but I think you get a lot more than you pay for. I got the 60 min table and 30 min foot combo at $60. Was surprised that I wasn't transferred to a reflexology chair for the foot massage portion and stayed on the table but that didn't detract from the experience. read more

Everytime I'm in need of a massage, I'm reminded that this place is just across the street, always able to get me in that day, and easy on the pocket. It's so affordable that I go for the 90 minute massage, with Nina or Cindy. I haven't tried the new lady but my friend did and she loved her. Sometimes, they have to run out of the room to answer the phone, but it doesn't bother me because they always take such good care of me. In particular, most fancy spas charge extra for a stone massage, but they always ask me if I would like them to use the stones on my back. I also don't like wasting time on my head so I just tell them ahead of time and they have no problem just focusing on the areas I want. For a non-spa massage, this place is very clean, well priced, and has plentiful parking. read more
