Review #187 - 2019 Getting older really sucks, big time!! Having a child at an older age makes it even harder on a woman's body. I don't think I've had a real good night's sleep since I had my daughter about 3.5 years ago. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE her dearly, but it takes a toll on my body. Lately, I've been feeling a lot of aches & pains all over, especially my neck & shoulders. I have to admit that using my iPhone a lot doesn't help with that either. When I saw an offer on Groupon for Claire's Massage, I decided to Yelp her to read all the reviews to get an idea of whether it would be worth my money & time. I couldn't get a weekend appointment so I opted for an appointment on Tuesday, July 23rd, at 11:30 AM. I showed up about 20 minutes early & went to knock on her door. She asked me to go back out & sit in the waiting area until my appointment time. At first, I was kind of put off, but after she called me back in, we warmed up & got started on my massage. She asked if there were any specific areas that I needed extra attention & I mentioned that my left shoulder & arm could use some extra work, since I'm left-handed. She spent the whole hour working on every knot & tightness on my body, some I didn't even know existed. I swear, it hurt so badly when she was massaging my shoulders, but in a good way. I could tell that she was trying really hard to get rid of all the tension from my neck. I felt super sore afterwards, but all that built up tension from years of stress & carelessness on my body was eased & relieved in a matter of an hour. Wow! She has a calm and gentle nature about her that immediately put me to ease. I called three times to schedule an appointment using my groupon, and left a message each time in a generic voicemail box with no professional greeting or any business identification info- just a robot telling me that the person was not available. I get that masseuses often are unable to answer calls, but at least a "hello, this is so and so please leave a message..." Would have been encouraging. Two of my calls were never returned at all. Maybe this business doesn't care about losing a potential customer... But I imagine they will lose more with this sort of poor service . read more

I can pay Claire and her expert services no better compliment than to say when I left her studio, I felt beautiful. I felt blissful and light and free. It was an exquisite experience, and some of the best time and money I've ever spent! I've been going through a rough patch in the ol' personal life and I thought I would treat myself to a massage to help unwind and reconnect with the zen part of myself. I'd only had one professional massage before and while it was good, it wasn't the experience I wanted. I wanted the kind of massage you see in movies, with darkness and candles and flowers and music and all that stuff. So I kept my eyes peeled on the discount websites for a deal that I couldn't pass up, and soon on Amazon Local Claire's coupon appeared, a deep discount for a 60 minute massage. I Yelped her and saw those 5 glorious stars, and purchased without hestiation! I was able to book my appointment with her over email for a post-work massage about 2 weeks out, and she honored my request for swedish massage as opposed to deep tissue no problem, and also allowed me an aromatherapy upgrade. Her kindness and flexibility was so wonderful! I spent weeks looking forward to my appointment! Upon arrival, locating her studio is a little challenging (some signs could be a little clearer) but it's pretty logical where she is. Her space is small but welcoming, and you are enveloped in the calming and sensual darkness of the experience the moment you walk in the door. Claire was very sweet and soft spoken, and answered my questions no problem and allowed me to personalize my experience as needed (several options for aromatherapy were offered, I chose teatree; she also asked about likes and dislikes, and where I wanted her attention focused). For an hour, I just relaxed and blissed out under her incredible touch. I have a theory about Certified Massage Therapists - they have to be able to turn their hands into tentacles to pass, because I don't know how it's possible that human hands can do those things. And CMTs are always these sweet petite women with POWER! Such remarkable sensations all over my stiff neck and back, and the bliss of the massage of my thumb muscle! Oh, heaven. For an hour I just relaxed and enjoyed the soft ambient music, the gorgeous smells, and the bliss of my body's pampering. I would occasionally drift into fever dreams of flowers and waterfalls and beaches and sunsets, all the beautiful things of this world colliding in my head as I felt my stress and cares melt away. I left an hour later feeling like I was walking on a cloud, or floating just above my body. A girl could get used to this. I realized on my drive home that I was absentmindedly humming to myself in my euphoric state, and then noticed what I was humming - CHRISTMAS SONGS! In August. THAT is how happy I was. :) While the standard fee of $80 will be a litlte steep to be a regular habit, I am SO grateful to have been introduced to Claire and her spectacular massages. Whenever I feel the stresses and tensions of the nonsense of life start to creep in and make me weary again, she will be the one I call. Let me tell you guys I was in heaven for those 75 minutes, I almost fell a sleep. During the massage she sprayed my back with something called "BIOFREEZE" That was really great I am still feeling it 3 hours after it was applyed. I'm am going to get me some more of that!!!! I've been getting massages for 30 years, and it is rare that a masseuse will actually work on the things I ask her to work on. Claire did just that. The pressure was spot on, breaking up lots of accumulated tension from the stress and activity related to a move.
