So I have had three lemon cars in the passed three years, and losing hope on ever getting a decent and reliable car. I had three different friends and family recommended Fallbrook Motors to me. I saw the car online a couple weeks ago, called about it and confirmed this morning, went in at 11am- and finished signing everything before 1pm. In and out without any hassle or stress. Got the best APR rating through them considering my age being a "young driver" and my credit situation. As a young adult in college that moved to the area about two years ago, I had a hard time finding a place I felt confident in that would be trustworthy and provide excellent services. So as usual I check reviews before I go to a place where I might be placing a big purchase. The reviews say it all, these guys are great and just cool people. Easily can become your friend if you live in the area. We bought a 2011 Jeep Wrangler with monster tires and were happy about our purchase. They were pretty honest about the selling price - KBB priced it as a trade in around $19k-20k and they were selling for almost $21k so they weren't making a score on their vehicles, just being honest and keeping the business a float, unlike major dealerships that are making $5k off you and say they have no room to budge. Our trade in was priced about the max value considering it has some outside damage and wear and tear. Also they found us a great APR and extended warranty! Overall this is a mom and pop shop type of place, which makes it that much better because you feel more at home when dealing with them. Tim and Rosie both are just good people who want to help and are not in it to make a ton of money off you, just trying to make a living. We saw a car on Autotrader that was (or seemed to be) just what we were looking for. So we made the 1.5 hour journey to Fallbrook to see it. That is, after we talked to Rosie about its condition and were assured that it was what it seemed to be...in good shape. That facade shattered quickly upon our arrival. Rosie was pleasant and pretty much knew nothing about the vehicle. Tim swooped in a few minutes later. Once we started asking basic questions about some indications that the car had been in at least one accident (despite their assurances that it hadn't) Tim became very defensive. Rather than just being straight forward and giving us the scoop about what kind of repairs he had made, he started telling us that he had to make a profit, and basically we could just leave if we wanted to put him through the ringer. Um....really? Who's giving money to who here? And who's safety depends on the condition of the vehicle? We weren't asking for any favors, just some good ole fashioned candor. No dice. I'd take a long hard look at some of the 5 star reviews on here. They are not representative of what we experienced at ALL. If you know anything about cars, or bring someone who knows about them, you may be treated with hostility and shown the door like I was. You, my friend, are not their target audience. I'm sure they have some cars that are great, and maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones who rolls the dice and wins. But Fallbrook is the avocado capital of the world, not Vegas. And Fallbrook deals in rotten fruit. I'm not in the position to play Russian roulette with my safety or wallet by purchasing a vehicle from Fallbrook Motors. Next please! There are lots of shady used car dealers, but few who are as transparently sleazy as these guys. read more

I bought my 2003 Toyota Tacoma 4dr from Tim and Rosie about 3 months ago. I waited before writing this review to see how my truck held up. I've taken my truck up to Fresno from Temecula twice now and on multiple San Diego trips for work. The truck has held up wonderfully. No issues whatsoever. Initially, I was hesitant to purchase a used truck from a used car dealership but had read good reviews about Fallbrook Motors. I had been searching for a certain used Tacoma and they happened to have what I was looking for. My wife and I drove down and were immediately impressed with the attention and knowledge we received from Rosie. She was friendly, courteous, professional and answered any/all questions we had. After looking/test driving trucks for over an hour we felt as if we had known Rosie our whole lives. We didn't purchase that day and felt no pressure to buy, which was a plus. We left for 2 other locations to test drive some Tacomas. For the price or because of the condition of the truck, nothing could compare to what FM had in their stable of trucks. Two days later I called Rosie and asked if the truck was still available. Luckily, it was and we drove down to purchase. We met Tim at this meeting and again we totally hit it off with him as well. I traded for a Toyota Yaris and all seemed good until I went to sell that Yaris and found out that it had been in an accident. I bought a car there, only to have to pay nearly $1,000 three months later for things that should have been done before I bought it: transmission job, water pump, tuneup, serpentine belt, impact sensor, etc. Yesterday the seat belt FELL OFF. What's next? When I called them to ask if there's anything they can do, the guy was smug. He told me I didn't know what I was talking about because I didn't "sound mechanically inclined", then suggested that the lack of parking in my area would have something to do with all the car's issues. Tim and Rosie were great for me. I live in Utah and I bought a Toyota pickup from them that I had found through the internet. Cars from Southern California have had easier lives than the ones from Utah. The temperatures don't get as hot or as cold and they don't salt the roads because it never snows. The pickup is great and I realized that what I was paying for was for Tim to use his knowledge and expertise to choose good cars that he has looked over and decided that they are in good shape and will be a good deal for whoever buys it. I know when I am ready to buy my next car I will call Tim and ask him to pick whatever vehicle it is I'm looking for. He's the man who knows what he's looking at when he chooses a car for his lot. I have never written anything but praises on yelp. Sadly, that will need to change given my challenges with Fallbrook Motors. Bought a Toyota 4 Runner Limited and within a couple weeks had to take it to Rosy's husbands auto shop due to an oxygen sensor light, but that was no big deal. Literally did not drive the car much due to it being in my last trimester in pregnancy and my work is 5 minutes from my home. Fast forward to my putting just under 5,000 miles on the car and I take it into my auto shop (18 years of proven great service) for normal maintenance and they inform me I need new breaks and rotors. They personally showed me the need to have them replaced. The following weekend I take my 4 Runner to Big Bear over Presidents Day weekend; this was the first time I had driven my car any distance. While in Big Bear my dashboard lit up with not only with the check engine light but other surrounding lights. I was afraid to drive my car home.! Once home, I take my car back to my auto repair shop and I was informed it was a catalytic converter. I called Tim and I set up an appointment to have him look at the car. He informed me I'm probably not putting enough long distance miles on my car and told me to drive the car more. As you may imagine, this was not the case, the lights came back on. I once again called Tim and we had a discussion regarding the ongoing issues I had with the car in which I put less than 5,000 miles on the car since purchase. He was not even willing to repair my car at a discounted rate. It was an unpleasant conversation in which he basically told me I bought a used car and he was not going to do anything for me despite my request to repair the car with consideration of reducing the repair. My last Toyota 4 Runner was purchased from Provident dealership. Great experience with Provident! Don't plan on Fallbrook Motors standing behind their claims that Tim's auto shop really checks out their cars and ensures they are in good condition. How is it I needed new brakes and rotors with less than 5,000 put on the car since its purchase? My mom is looking to buy a 4 Runner this coming week, sadly she won't be considering buying from Fallbrook Motors. read more

This was my first time car buying experience. I was referred to this place by a family friend, and drove out there all the way from San Diego because I heard so many great things. I could have easily be taken advantage of, being that I really have no idea what I am doing when buying a car. But when the Carmax guy trying to sell me the same car I was looking at at Fallbrook Motors, even said that he couldn't get me a deal as low as Fallbrook, I left immediately. I bought a car from them with very little investigating under the hood, and THIS COULD HAVE BEEN REALLY BAD. It turned out, that this car is PERFECT or at least nearly perfect.
