After viewing a car on their website which already had a large number of photos of the interior and exterior along with the engine, I gave them a call and was immediately greeted on the phone by Kirk. I scheduled a test drive and he told me I could show up anytime during the day. On arrival, I was very surprised by the fact I was able to take the car on a test drive for a long period of time and that it was in spectacular condition as shown in the photos. Kirk was very helpful and offered us an extremely reasonable price on the vehicle, with the option to ship it to my house in the adjacent county since my stick shift driving skills needed work. Everything went smoothly from the sale to the delivery (the car arrived a few hours earlier than expected too). I bought a 2018 Chevy Traverse from this dealership and had issues within days--the check engine light came on and I was told it was just the gas cap, which wasn't true. The car continued having problems, including shaking and transmission issues, despite multiple visits and temporary fixes. After months of going back and forth, they offered solutions that would cost me thousands more. In the end, I was forced to take a loss of about $3,000 and was charged for things we never agreed to. Communication was poor, and I never got a clear explanation for the extra charges. There was many other issues like a whole bunch of leaking oil, bad shocks, and a whole list of things that I'd rather not even go into. I would not recommend buying a car from here read more

If you look at my profile, I don't often write a negative Yelp review, but I thought people should read this and make their own decision as to the ethics of this establishment. I found a really nice Toyota Sequoia that CK had and talked to Kirk about it. We agreed to a deal and I told him I couldn't be there for several days. I was going to offer him a nominal nonrefundable deposit as I was sure I was going to buy the car as long as it was as advertised, but he never asked and rather acted like he was going to courtesy hold the car for me. I explained to him that I was 450 miles away in San Francisco and coordinated a trip to deliver plants to a job in LA from my SF Palm nursery (see photo of my truck loaded and on its way) and fast tracked my customer so I could go and buy this Sequoia. Then just two days after agreeing to a deal with Kirk, and one day away from seeing the car as I woke up in a hotel room in Buelton on my way to deliver the plants to LA, Kirk sent me a text that they sold the car the night before without even a call to me for first right of refusal to buy it sight unseen which I probably would've done. Anyway, if you really want a car from these guys, you better put a nonrefundable deposit on it even if they don't ask if you're not standing right in front of the car in order to avert this kind of situation. I will include below what I wrote to Kirk. His response to my last message was "I'm sorry, I don't enjoy disappointing anyone." What I wrote this morning to Kirk: "I think in a situation like this, the best business practices thing to do when you agree to a sale pending a viewing, especially when someone is traveling far to see it, is to tell that person if someone gets there sooner than them that the car will be sold. And if the person wants to avert that risk, then you would offer to them a nominal amount of nonrefundable deposit to put on the car to buy and guarantee the right of first opportunity.  Or at a minimum, call the first person up for first right of refusal to buy the car sight unseen or put greater nonrefundable deposit on it.  Like $500. Then if the first person comes in and walks away from the deal, you keep the nonrefundable deposit and call the second person up to offer the sale to them.  When we last spoke, you didn't mention that there would be any risk that the car wouldn't be there when I finally arrived just several days later." "I actually had another Sequoia I was looking at up north and I would've changed everything around to go buy that one If I had thought there was a chance this car would get sold out from underneath me. Besides investing time playing phone tag with you about this vehicle, I fast tracked my customer and engineered the timing of this delivery trip from my SF nursery I am on right now all around getting down to see your car as soon as possible and most likely buy it just like I said.  Your partner even told me he'd rather have people look at the car in person before doing any deals." "I sell palm trees and many are unique and when a customer comes in and says they want a certain tree but need to go home and take measurements, etc., I tell them that nothing is sold until money is exchanged. I tell them if they're not ready to put money on it, then I will give them first right of refusal if anyone comes in that wants to buy the same plant, but they then would have to cough money up at that point or at least some nonrefundable deposit just like I mentioned above." "So of course, I have a bit of a sour taste in my mouth after how this went down. I worked pretty hard to get this delivery done in LA today from SF and hightail it over there this afternoon to find that you just sold the car last night without even calling me for first right of refusal.  In Buelton right now on schedule, but with no car to buy at the end of the day." read more

After buying my car in November of 2023 I had a great experience with purchasing my car, Kirk, the employee who assisted me was very kind and helpful through the process of purchasing my car and other minor things that needed to be fixed like the headliner. Most recently my car was leaking a bunch of oil so I called them and they recommended me to a reliable mechanic near their shop. After a diagnostic, I was told that the transmission was internally damaged and that it would cost $2700 to replace it. The car that I had bought only had 92,550 miles and I have only driven it to 93,949 miles. I then called CK Motors and told them about the situation. They called the mechanic and asked them for a discount of $200, So I had to pay $2500 out of pocket. I understand that issues come up with using used cars but a transmission that fails is a problem that was known before the purchase of the car. After making my payment and calling, I was told there was nothing they could do. "It's a used car, we are not able to see the foreseeable future." I recommend going to another car dealership. The car may or may not be faulty and once you buy, the expenses are on you. read more

I really dislike buying cars, and I can say with conviction that CK Motors was the BEST experience I've ever had buying one. We chose CK because they had some good-looking cars in the right price range for my daughter's first car. When we arrived, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. There was no pressure whatsoever. Although the price wasn't negotiable (it had already been discounted that week), they were willing to work with us on some of the extra costs, like the credit card fee and the registration. They seemed honest, and that's a tough trait to find when you're buying a car! Also, I appreciated that they didn't demand a credit check and to get my SSN like so many other car lots do, citing some "law" that I'm sure isn't real. When I first found the BMW wagon I wanted to purchase here, the existing reviews gave me the confidence to go in person and check it out, and the reviews were not wrong. Kirk was very welcoming, and I could tell he was not the typical car salesman trying to pressure you into buying a car. He gave me the keys and let me inspect and drive the car on my own. The trust was there off the bat, and I felt very comfortable overall. After my inspection, there were a number of issues I found with the car. The rear window wouldn't open, tires were worn out, some trim pieces were falling off to name a few. Kirk was very reasonable with negotiating the price taking the issues into account, and we both agreed on a price that we were happy with. I bought the car and took it home. After driving the car for a bit, there were two oil leaks (it's a BMW after all!) that showed up to my disappointment. I reached out to Kirk, and he was very kind and generous enough to take care of the oil leaks free of charge. It would have cost me an arm and leg otherwise. Kirk and team exceeded my expectations when it came to this and sent me continuous updates and pictures about the repair. The car is in perfect shape now. Prior to finding the Jetta we had been to several other dealerships to look at vehicles and had horrible experiences with them false advertising prices just to bait us to come in and then try to add an extra $2000 mandatory "dealership package". Spent Father's Day looking for a first car for my granddaughter. Saw a couple of potential cars on the CK website and first spoke to Kirk via phone, to ask for details not clear in the on-line vehicle description. I could tell by the phone conversation that this was not the typical "used car dealer", so decided to meet with Kirk at CK. (We also met George, the other owner). The original car was not for us, so we asked about another listing, which was slightly more money. At no time did Kirk try to influence our decision, or try to "up sell" us. In fact, he was very laid back and accommodating in letting us test drive the car, without a chaperone. After the test drive we discussed the price and what it would take to drive the car off that day. Kirk was very forthcoming with the price and the options we had to pay for it. Before closing the deal, we had another car (same model and year), to look at nearby. In phoning the next dealer for directions, we found he was about to close, so we discussed the car on the phone. His asking price was a bit higher than CK, so I asked if he would come down in price if we saw the car and liked it. He said it was possible, but when he found out we were dealing with CK, his demeaner changed and I didn't get the same feeling as I did with Kirk, at CK. That convinced me we were heading back to CK, which we did. Kirk was very accommodating in working with us to reach a mutually agreeable price. The entire paperwork process went quickly and each step was explained in detail. They provided an extensive Carfax report for the car, and CK gave their own 30 day powertrain warranty with the purchase. They do offer a more extensive warranty through a third party company, if you desire. They do not try to jam the additional warranty down your throat like a typical dealer. Prior to leaving, I asked if we could get the windshield cleaned due to some dust and wiper streaks. George had the entire car washed prior to releasing it to us. This was without a doubt the best experience I have ever had in purchasing a car. It was a stress free encounter and I highly recommend visiting CK for your next car.
