Haven't been here in a while. I ordered takeout sha-nay-nay for my lunch and was very happy. I'm going to return more often.

BEST MEDITERRANEAN EXPERIENCE EVER!!! When I came to Falafel Hut for the first time, I was amazed by the delicious food and great customer service shown by everyone there. I looked at the menu and noticed the great selection of Mediterranean cuisine that was offered. I was then happily welcomed by staff and had my order taken. I sat down and took in the calm environment and warm lighting. Soon, my food was ready. Yum! The signature Hut's Wrap was packed nicely with falafel, veggies, and some French fries too!! I was blown away by the amazing taste and creaminess of the hummus that I had with a piece of pita bread. Coming from an Arab, it was the best Arabic food I had ever tasted, and for this whole experience, I think Falafel Hut deserves the five stars I am giving it. Cute little informal place serving popular Middle East cuisine including hummus, babaganoush, various mezes, falafel, chicken shawarma, shish kabob, gyro, salads, etc. What I like: the food. It's really good. What I don't like: the set up. It's unclear whether you order from the counter, or if there's waitress service. You have to get your own water, napkins and utensils from a side table. If you just sit down at a table, eventually someone will come over with a menu and take your order, but my sense is they'd rather you come to the counter, order, find a table, get your napkins and utensils, pick up your order, bring it to your table and so on. I wish it were more defined...not sure if this is a fast food setup or a real restaurant, hence 3 stars rather than 4. Sidewalk table is nice. read more

Tasty with good portions is what I'm all about and that's what I got here, I had the Sha-nay-nay which got me some points with the guy at the counter for getting the reference and it was good too. Lots of fresh cucumber and tomato bits with chicken slices with a nice grilled flavor and of course rice. The actual falafels are good too having tasted the falafel veggie platter, which is also loaded. The location has ok seating with ok parking so it's not too much of an issue of you decide to dine in but if it's crowded take out may be better.. Also the stock photography on the walk was kinda odd but other than that good food all around, would go back to try other retro pop cultured named dishes. I don't see too many falafel places so it's nice to know there is one here. read more

I can somewhat understand your desire to keep Middle Eastern food the way it is & not screwing with the classics -- which basically means that you are not down with the pickles or the cabbage. Yeah, whatever, this type of cuisine is so abundant in this day and age, I give props to Falafel Hut for rolling the dice. It's not like they are reinventing the wheel, they just are doing something different from the rest. Ingredients are fresh - staff is helpful and nice - small, but can accommodate you and two friends, max - parking isn't terrible - and the price point is solid. Only items that can be a little meh is the hummus and baba ganoush, they are hit or miss, more often than not both need seasoning. It is what it is - I'm not going there to strictly munch on side dishes. Beef shwarma is delicious, lamb kebabs are always tender and moist and so, so tasty. Hut's wrap is the way to go if you're a noob, one of the best items on the menu...oh, yes, there are french fries on it. Deal with it. read more

I think this place should have a "Self Service" sign in the front lol -We sat ourselves -We were handed a wine opener to open our wine bottle -We had to grab our own wine glasses -We had to gab our own paper cups AND serve each other water (which by the way ran out & no one ever refilled it) -We had to get up and ask who do we place our order with because no one ever came by our table So you get the point! The last time I was here I came a very picky 6-year-old who wanted nothing except a hotdog for lunch. The guy who served us a menu and came to take our good orders patiently sat down at the table next to us and not only made this grumpy 6-year-old smile & laugh, but got her to try a grilled cheese sandwich- which the thoroughly enjoyed! ShaPoopie 5 guys nearby is closed. I often come here for a quick bite when I'm in the area. The falafel sandwich is my go to choice. They make it really fast and I'm out the door within 5 mins. It's nice to be able to get good middle eastern at a clean place and in a nice area. Unlike South Paterson, I don't have to worry about where I park my car and if I need my proMax vest. We had a hankerin' for falafel and hummus, so we rolled out the Yelp application to seek out some new local haunts. The Falafel Hut was the first one we decided on. Not bad at all. We hoped to start off with the eggplant salad, but we were told that they were not serving it that day. Bummer, so we went with the babaghanouj instead. Served with two medium sized quartered pita bread, it was a nice balance of lemon juice, tahini, and the puree of roasted eggplant. It was topped with a drizzling of olive oil and a dark powdered spice. I'm not sure what it was, but it didn't have much flavor and seemed like more of a garnish. Then out came a hummus sandwich on pita. It was pretty average, but the addition of marinated red cabbage was nice. What was NOT nice was the two slices of dill pickle on it. No, nuh-uh, sorry, nope. Also on the pita was tomato slices and romaine lettuce. The hummus was pretty standard. Also on deck was a falafel sandwich on the same pita bread as the other selection. They were mild, not over fried and pretty soft. Nice and delicate. However...here are the pickles once again!!! Ouch! A surprise that I would happily send back. Both sandwiches had more than a little moisture running out of the bottom of the pita due to the cabbage, I would assume. Maybe the greens were still wet after being washed, perhaps? Whatever the case, there was a small purpleish-pinkish puddle on each of the paper that our sandwiches were served in. S'ok, though. They were alright. The place was clean, decorated a little haphazardly, and the service was fine. The prices were relatively inexpensive for what we received. I'm not sure if we'll be going back anytime soon, but I think you'd have nothing to lose (sans a ten-spot) if you gave it a try. read more

I ordered the For Pete's Sake for delivery through Postmates. There was a 5.99 delivery fee which is pretty steep. The meal was great but could have arrived sooner and warmer. The fries got a bit soggy (still good). The one thing I was thrown off by was that they just included a bag of Toufayan pita bread for our order. My sister recommended this place, and I finally got the chance to check it out. I ordered the chicken shawarma with two pieces of falafel. They didn't have a sandwich with this combination of chicken AND falafel on the menu but it didn't seem to be a problem. However, there was an extra fee to add the falafel. From my experience, most other places would not have done so. The sandwich was delicious! I don't typically like pickles but they really accented the sandwich well. Also instead of the more usual white onion, they used red onions which I thought was pretty tasty and complimented the sandwich. It was nice to see a departure from the typical white onion, lettuce and tomato! However, there wasn't enough sauce for my liking (as well as my husband). Usually, I'm a complete mess after eating a sandwich like this, but not this time. (Which might be a good thing for others!) The restaurant is pretty tight but they make good use of their space. It also helps that they bring the food to you so the register area doesn't get congested. They also have a dispenser with free water, but it quickly emptied and wasn't refilled during my trip there. Parking in the area is pretty decent too. Overall, this is a good food option if you're in the area but nothing to go out of your way for if you already have access to a good chicken and falafel sandwich. read more

I've been to this place numerous times and I have never been disappointed. So far, I've only got the Jerusalem platter. It's hummus, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh, and falafel. All of it is delicious. This is a great place for authentic, delicious Middle Eastern food. The shwarma is definitely great but my go-to is to make a meal out of a couple apps... usually the grape leaves and baba ghanoush. Then I'll finish it off with some baklava. I've never been disappointed by anything I've tried here. You can get a lot of food for cheap and the employees are always friendly. One thing I do wish is that the interior was more appealing for dining in... something about the metal chairs, the lighting, and the mats on the floor make it not super aesthetically pleasing. No doubt about it this place is five stars all the way! From platters to pitas, Falafel Hut does not upset. All the pitas I ever tried here are packed to the top with savory meats and veggies, and with just the right amount of tahini. I love that when I grabbed one to take home and opened the package the pita wasn't completely saturated and soaked through with juices making it inedible. *cough cough Jackies* The lamb kabob as well as the kufta were tender and incredibly flavorful. Same can be said about the falafel which is way greener and much tastier than other competitors in the area. I would also say that dollar for dollar, Falafel hut entrees, sandwiches, and pitas are often larger and cheaper than other mediterranean/middle eastern spots. Great food, great place. read more
