The chilled water is unfiltered tap water, for that fresh from the outdoor water hose taste…read more
The bartender was cranking up the music as if he was trying to turn the bar into a club. Mind you, it's a Tuesday night at 9pm.
Flautas de pollo were bland AF chicken. Poasted, shredded with no salt to save its life. They could drown the flautas in a green salsa but blandness of the flautas can't be covered.
Rice? Basic.
Beans? Boring.
Underseasoned flautas + basic rice + boring beans = mediocre food
Add $50-$60 all in, it's overpriced mediocre food.
Had the food been well seasoned, there would have been no food complaints.
When a restaurant sends out so so food, it's like tying its own shoe laces and tripping over itself. You had 1 job: prepare your own kitchen menu well. They did not understand the assignment.
Houston is full of mediocre tex mex; this place joins the list of one and done places.
If you look at the plate where the flautas was served on, the plate is chipped in different places. 3 years in business, they should have new plates rotating in to take out the damaged plates from reaching diners.
Now what happened next could create the scene for a future TV show: Dining Room Nightmares.
These two bar flies arrived and started narrating their reality tv life which includes fights, arguments, and dumb things they are doing. Shameless, loud AF, unapologetic, very much in their FAFO era. The male bartender egging them on as if he were that enthusiastic bestie, that enables bad life choices. In the spirit of "oh no you didn't girl." hahaha
What makes it worse is that these two women are bartender friends.
The mentality is "the customer is always right" so that if they are loud, obnoxious, crude, it is what the customer chooses to do.
Meanwhile, I was just trying to eat flautas and churros with my mom not trying to become an aspiring Netflix documentarian. Dining Room Nightmares remains a concept, without a TV show pilot.
Dining out should not require a documentary to document how LOUD, CRUDE, and how LONG they were misbehaving that evening. We should not need video receipts to capture mayhem in the middle of dinner.
Apparently, it's a taste issue to not want to hear 30 minutes of dropping f bombs, b&:&;, and all manner of expletive language. I am not expecting Disney standards, but basic common consideration to diners.
For fact checking purposes, the facts from this diner remain:
- Tap water
- Mediocre food.
- Overpriced
- Mismanagement of bad drinkers
Juan, later goes on to says the water is filtered. The comedy writes itself: "The water filters are sooooo old, you cannot tell the water is filtered." hahaha. It shows how restaurant maintenance is cutting corners and skipping basics. Come on now, all it takes is 1-3 sips to know tap water is tap water. No PhD in water needed.
