This is my second time eating here. The first was on a Sunday for the breakfast buffet and it was simply amazing, and for 10.95 I'll be back for it again and again. The bloody Mary's are delicious as well! I just had the walleye sandwich and it was amazing the pretzel roll was soft and delicious and goes perfectly with the fish! I had the fried calamari appetizer and it was the best I've ever had! All I can say is I now want to try everything on the menu at this place! Everything I've tried was absolutely fantastic and I have to say that this is my new favorite restaurant! You must try this place if I could give it more than five stars I would! Ate here last night to celebrate 25th wedding anniversary, and was quite pleased and will be a great memory. This place has great potential, I have hopes that they tweak some things. Pros: Chef knows how to select and cook meat-at least the beef we tried. I had Filet Mignon, my dh had ribeye, was one of the best steaks I have ever had. Cooked to perfection. Dh thought sauce a little salty, not for me. The cheesecake dessert was generous in portion, presented nicely, tasted as I would expect. Nice suprise of the raisin bread in the bread basket, don't know if it was an afterthought or clean out the inventory, but was a decent piece of bread and actually went well with the food-not something I would have ventured on my own. Bartender: I love a good dirty martini, and again, one of the best I have had in years. Glasses need to be chilled though. Cons: Menu too ambitious. Sides were kinda lame in taste, potatoes scooped with that same institution like shape. Salad presented nicely, but my dressing needed salt badly. I appreciated it being served on the side without having to ask. Plates were a little too Fiesta Ware look, and kinda smudgy, needed to be wiped off better. And serve with a steak knife-even though the meat cut like butter, it just seems wrong to not have a steak knife. Overall, I would definitely frequent this establishment and would hope for it to develop into a more 'adult' establishment-hopefully with new access to 65 move toward a little more flexibilty on fresh local chef inspired dishes, and pare down the size of the regular menu. read more

My husband and I decided to try this place out. The restaurant is nice and clean, and our server was friendly and attentive, but we were not happy with the soups and salads. We both had the lemon rice soup and it was bland. I had the ahi tuna salad and it did not taste good in my opinion. The quality of tuna was poor. It was watery and too fishy. Ahi should never be fishy tasting, watery, or smelly. I only had a couple of bites. The salad consisted of cole slaw with some edamame thrown in and drenched in a poorly done emulsion of mayo, soy sauce, some ginger and I think there was a hint of seiyo wasabi, (the kind from the tube, not the powdered sawa, which is the better quality). As for the mayo, I am certain the chef used Hellman's and not the Japanese mayo which has a sweeter taste and would have been idea for this salad. I understand the chef's attempt of making an "Asian" inspired salad, but he or she did not execute this very well and I think they should leave the Asian dishes to the chefs and home cooks who really know and understand the concept of building flavors in Asian food such as Asparagus restaurant or the Asian immigrant moms and grandmas. Or they cold take the criticism with a grain of salt, and go back to the drawing board. Yes, I know it's only a salad, but if a person is not going to be happy with a salad, he or she may not want to even try an entree, (which was the case with me and my husband). The owner was accomodating and did take off the one salad off the bill. I did not expect or want him to do so, but I appreciate his attempts of making us happy and accepting constructive criticism. That is a sign of hard working, driven chef with thick skin. Overall, my husband and I did enjoy sitting outside and being together, we had a nice time regardless if we were dissatisfied with our food. Maybe we will give this place another chance in the future. Every place deserves another chance. And maybe this place will get 3 or 4 stars next time. read more

Eat here with friends on a Friday night got ayce perch it was ok but could not buy a beer. When I go out to a nice place I expect the beer to keep flowing and everything was very slow. They wait staff was running around like crazy and could not get anything out fast enough. Total lack of an management to be seen. Then they came around and ask us to like the fb page to get 13 off. no thanks I would raver be served well next time it will be the light house where they truly know customer service and better food. Went back again order the walleye sandwich got a full walleye dinner no worries I eat it , put the sour cream on the side , potato comes out smothered oh well I don't complain., with my 20 dollar walleye dinner a little tartar would be nice , better ask or you won't get it. My fiance and I went here twice. First time we actually made reservations because it was a Saturday night and we were going to be there around 730-8. So I made reservations for 8pm. We walked in at 755 and were told it would be a 35-40 minute wait. What's the point of making reservations then? We ended up walking out and heading down the street to Asparagus. Second time we went there, we got there about 7. Had the last table there. It took the waitress probably 10 minutes to come out to the table to introduce herself. She felt is was necessary as she was explaining the specials that we needed to hear about her personal life also. I'm sorry, I'm here to eat, not be your therapist. We each ordered drinks. I had a mango daiquiri and my fiance had a beer. 10 minutes later she brought out my daiquiri, but not his beer. It took another 5 minutes to get his beer. Once the rest of our party arrived, we ordered the appetizer. We ordered the sampler plate, which was actually pretty decent. Then it took another 15 minutes after we were finished to get another drink and have her clear the plate off our table. For dinner, my fiance had the all you can eat lake perch and I had some sort of chicken pasta (obviously not that memorable). My pasta was barely warm and tasted not so hot. My fiance had multiple bones in his fish, but considering he was paying for all you can eat, he decided to get a second helping just to get his money's worth (if he payed for it, he'll eat it, regardless of how bad it is). He told the waitress he wanted another serving. 20 minutes later, we got the bill but he still had not gotten his lake perch. And naturally she had added on a 20% gratuity to the bill prior to giving it to us even though there were only 3 people and we had 2 separate checks. I am all about giving a fantastic tip, if the service you do deserves it, however if you suck at your job, i'm probably only giving you 10%. Needless to say, we won't be going back. I have visited this place a few times now, and the food is always great. The pork chop is one of my favorites, juicy with a nice garlic butter combo melting on top. They have a stuffed chicken entree, with spinach and cheese over a bed of fettuccine alfredo. It is delicious. Not that hungry, try their french dip sandwich. The beef is tender and lean on a nicely toasted roll. Their soups are hit or miss, cream of potato was your basic cream base with cubed potatoes-nothing special. The small dinner salad is decent, often overflowing the bowl. Like the soup, their cocktails are a bit of hit or miss as well. Sometimes great, other times weak and inconsistent. Decor is great for a date night or just for a night out. High tables near the bar for a more casual setting. Overall the food is great, and well worth the trip to Crown Point! Finally came to take our order she took one couples order and never asked the rest of the table if we were ready to order. She brought the salads out. Took another 15 minutes to get the soup orders. My husband and I visited last night for the first time. We sat at the bar area since we knew we had to stay quick since we wanted to see a movie afterward. The bartenders we had were very friendly and looked like they knew what they were doing. My husband enjoyed his drink and complimented her ability to make a black and Sam. My amaretto stone sour tasted really good, but there was very little alcohol in it. We both ordered meals with soup and got cream of asparagus with bacon. It had good flavor and, in my opinion, an unnecessary kick. I ordered the tequila lime chicken. I thought it was tasty with a kick, but it wasn't worth the $19 I paid for it. I would probably have paid $13, so it was good, just not worth the price. My husband ordered a portobello mushroom burger. He said it was disappointing, saying it was overlooked and tasted like a burnt grill. For the price he paid, he should have gotten a side in addition to the soup, but it came with nothing other than being topped with wilted lettuce. The only reason why I gave them two stars was because of the bartenders' service and friendliness. We will not being going back. read more

The past several visits have been from bad to worse. Three weeks ago I took some customers there for dinner. We waited over an hour on a non-crowded night for mediocre food. Most recently I went there with my wife and it was horrible. We waited over an hour for our food in a practically desertd Sunday evening. When the food arrived my chops which I had requested medium came out well done - so dry that they were difficult to cut. I sent the food back. Instead of comping us for the wait and inedible food they reduced the tab. The prices have continued to rise and the quality has headed down hill. It's a shame because it has always been a mainstay in the area. Other patrons remarked about the wait and the couple next to us walked out. The bar staff is still excellent. Doesn't look like much when walking by looking in and yes, entering it was confirmed that the menu prices are way to high for the lack of any ambiance. Prime rib meal was plentiful cooked well though did not wow me for the prices. The crab soup was more like opening a can of potato soup that some one put in a few pieces of imitation crab meat (very disappointing; a chef would of never served something like this; again, seems to come from a can from the dollar store). Waitresses were friendly and they kept up with filling drinks and keeping the floor areas clean (they were the bright spot of the visit) though the floor rug was old, the wall outlet near us was caved in.... In other words, the interior seemed old, wore out, and not in line with the menu prices. Clientele were dressed as they were grabbing a quick burger from a road side stand and not what I thought would be a pleasing dinner experience. Tried this place looking for a new gem to come back to though what I got was a dirty lump of coal. Given how nice the serving staff was I'd recommend to the owners to upgrade the place and just maybe a better dressed clientele will show up and warrant the high menu prices. read more

Just enjoyed the breakfast buffet. At $10 it's pricey, but there are a lot of options to choose from. For an additional $3 you can have an omelet made for you. Personally, I feel that a buffet should be one price and include anything that is out there. I've been at many breakfast buffets and never have I seen an omelet station as an extra charge. Now that I'm over that, I will say that the staff did an exceptional job refilling the food. I would go back but probably wouldn't get the omelet again as there are other egg options on the buffet. read more

Came here with the wife and in-laws on a Sunday evening. The place is split up between the bar and dining area. There were only a handful of people when we arrived. The decor was underwhelming. Lots of pictures of flames, hence the name. There are some cheesy LED candles on the walls. We ordered the sampler platter which was average. The salad was fairly small and tasted fine. I ordered the walleye but they were all out so I picked out the almond crusted tilapia and wild rice. It was very hot and good, but a little buttery. The pork chops looked good. No one was dissatisfied with their food as far as I knew. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. I would probably come here again if we happened to be in the area. read more

Not recommended at all and we did not even eat here. If the staff can not manage a reservation I can't imagine they could do food very well. When you make a reservation you assume you will be seated somewhat close to that. No they seat walk ins and the people with reservations are told it will be an hour to be seated. In the 45 minutes we did wait giving them the benefit of the doubt. No one let that place. People who had been seated before we arrived were still waiting to have their order taken. This was my first time trying this restaraunt and when I say it was everything plus some. I took my husband here for father's Day and he really enjoyed it. Intially we encountered a problem where when we were seated for about ten minutes no one came over to our table but were taking care of two different tables that had been seated after we were. I asked for the manager and Ashley came over and addressed our problem she apologized and offered a free appertizer while we wait. She made my experience turn so much better with how she handled it. The other manager Amber ended up coming over to be our waitress and she was excellent. I wish Amber and Ashley can show other managers around town how to be great managers. The food was 10 stars, we had the seafood soup, ribs, pork chop and lime chicken. This was by far the best food I've had all year hands down. Ok. Waitress was super friendly and relatively quick to refill waters and drinks. However, the food was sub par and took a very very long time to come. We sat at the table for over an hour waiting for our meal, but we obviously weren't the only ones. Maybe that makes it better? Once the food finally made an appearance it was adequate. The calamari appetizer was over-fried rubber, the pork chops and perch were good according to those that ordered them. The shrimp scampi that I had was pretty awful. Shrimp was overcooked and rubbery, the pasta was ok but the butter sauce was so harsh with whatever cheap alcohol they used in it that I could barely eat it. Worth a try for some of the land based food but be wary of the seafood and the wait. read more

Me and my husband are from Chicago and saw an AD on Facebook for this place. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Sarah was our waitress. She was very accommodating and friendly. The food came out fast and was cooked to perfection. We had calamari as an appetizer, steak and pasta for entrees, And the best part is that the entrees came with a soup or salad! We had Jager bombs for drinks and were in the right price range. The tables were clean and the atmosphere was comfortable. Sarah was easy to talk with and made us feel very welcome! Ordered lunch. Only 1 other couple and a waiter for each table to expected a good service experience. Appetizer was spinach and aritichoke dip with chips that had totally too much salt and garlic in the dip. Waiter forgot about drink order. Chicken noodle soup was decent, was also very, very salty. Entree was burger's and the order was incorrect for both the sides and for the toppings on the burger. Bun was very greasy, fries were not very good. When bill arrived it was incorrect also. Poor service, below average food quality. This place seems to be hit or miss as several friends have said it is excellent and several have said it is terrible and they would never go back. read more
