1st of all, we came on Tuesday & it was super slow. We parked our car, walked up to the door & valet told us we had to pay for valet. Even though are car was already self-parked & it was maybe 5 cars outside. He said it was because we have to pay to park on their lot. What a drive!! Just a FYI, I came from the city. Nice, unique spot. Very creative. The spring rolls were bussin! 9/10 but the crab bites.......I'm cool on those....6.5/10. Can you say overhyped? This restaurant/bar/IG moment spot is located in Duluth. I can truly appreciate Duluth and it's charm but c'mon it's not the metropolitan city but they don't know that. I went for my bday back in November and had a terrible experience. It's just a club that has okay food. Had I not seen it on Instagram and thought the ambiance was cool (which it was okay at best), I wouldn't have come. The service was mid at best because the girls stand around on TikTok and when they finally notice you, they come by. I'm only leaving 2 stars because the drinks I did have were good. So let's start by saying the place is decorated extremely cute! It's the perfect Instagramable place decorated with neon colors, led lighted signs and painted mural walls. The place is located in Duluth and offers valet parking, which cost $10 in a huge parking lot. That was a slick turn off because usually if your not directly in the City of Atlanta we don't have to pay additional parking. Nonetheless, the valet Guy was very nice and allowed us to sit in my car as we waited for a table to open up. We didn't have to go inside to get on a list, the valet driver communicated it to the hostess and security then called us when our table was ready. We were offered two seats at the bar, which We accepted. However, there were open tables that they could have offered us since they didn't say they were reserved or anything. When we sat down, we were greeted. I began to order a drink and an appetizer. There were crabs ball bites, jerk wings and seafood egg rolls on the menu. Of course I wanted crab bites and egg rolls. We were advised that there was no crab bites, egg rolls, salmon or lamb chops. We proceeded to order our meals. The drinks tasted great, they were all started at $18. They also offered a 5 flight drink set for $100 (add $50 for top shelf) and a full bar. Honestly the liquor was over priced! As far as the food, It took over an hour to get our food. I believe the waitress must have forgot it because several people who came in after us got their food before us! When it came I was expecting more. I had coconut curry shrimp. They were supposed to be grilled jumbo prawns, they were NOT! Please see my picture! They tasted like precooked shrimp but were seasoned very well. My rice was so mushy, it was like couscous. The plantain were dried out and hard. My friend had jerk chicken pasta. She was not a fan of the Alfredo sauce and mentioned only having 2 bell peppers in her entire plate. While we enjoyed the ambiance and picture opportunity, it will not be a place I return to or recommend. Unfortunately they still have kinks that need to be worked out. The food could use help! At first, I was over this place! It was a bit frustrating trying to make reservations, but they did walk-ins....great! Get there, and they tried to valet park the car in the front of the restaurant when they really could charge a parking fee if thats legal (You have to see for yourself) for that section of the parking lot. Fast forward......the security guy said we had seats at the bar but gave our seats away when we decided to move the car to avoid paying for parking and when we got back he said he gave the seats away because he didn't know where we went, so now there are two groups ahead of us. I visited this place for the first time a few weeks ago after hearing about it on tik tok and Instagram. First thing I will say is that this place is a vibe. It's super instagrammable and is definitely the place to go with your friends or on a date when you're trying to be cute. Second, the food was good. My friend had the oxtail Rasta pasta which I think was amazing. I ordered the seafood Mac. It was a bit too cheesy for me but I should've known better because I'm not a big cheese fan but I'm sure macaroni lovers would love it. Third, service was great. The waitress was very attentive and smiled a lot. A few things to note, 1.)it's a small space so you must have a reservation to get in. If you are lucky enough to find a seat at the bar, they only allow you to order appetizers at the bar 2.) drinks are mad expensive. Like $18 a drink so be prepared for that ( we ordered a bottle of wine which was only $30 so we were happy with that) 3.) tip is included so don't make the mistake of tipping twice like we did. I highly recommend this restaurant. It was far from the city but it was well worth the drive. I went on a Saturday night reservations were at 6 (which is when they open) The food was amazing the chef put so much flavor in everything. We had the jerk chicken tacos as appetizers. We had Rasta pasta with chicken, Rasta pasta with shrimp, and Salmon with potatoes and asparagus. The drinks not so much we each had two drinks. They were sweet but no liquor no buzz not worth the $20 price point. The hookah was good the music was good and the ambiance was pretty. Let me be clear in stating that I am only reviewing my experience, not the food or alcoholic drinks. I would rate the service 5 stars, because our server was very nice and attentive, and the overall attitude of the waitstaff was cheerful and welcoming. The inside decor of the restaurant was beautiful, and it definitely had a club/lounge feel, if that's what you're looking for. I was a little taken aback by the food prices though, because they seemed a little inflated. For example, I was looking to order this dish called Rasta Pasta, and it was $22 before adding any protein. That raised an eyebrow, but wasn't exactly a deal breaker. However, I was definitely surprised to see that it was an additional $14 to add shrimp to the dish. So I'm supposed to pay more than half of the cost of the meal just to add protein? Disappointing, but I just attributed it to the fact that I was ultimately paying for the ambience and experience as a whole. Ultimately I ended up not ordering food though, because we arrived when the kitchen was close to closing, and I don't usually like to order at restaurants doing those times. My friends ordered some drinks we ordered a hookah for the table. The hookah was good and drinks looked nice but since I wasn't drinking that night I just asked for water. I was served water in the smallest cup I've ever been served water in at a restaurant, comparable to a juice glass. I didn't understand this, because my friends that were drinking alcoholic beverages were drinking out of regular sized cups. Nonetheless, I was there to catch a vibe so I just chilled out and took it all in. That menu and water experience is why I took off a star. The other star I took off is because I was charged $10 for self parking (not valet) upon arrival. I live in the city, and the last thing I expected coming to a restaurant way in Duluth, was to be charged for parking, especially a restaurant that is in a shopping plaza with several other businesses. This restaurant shares a parking lot with Taco Mac (who isn't charging for parking), to give you some perspective. This is a beautiful space with a lot of potential to be great, but I hate feeling like I'm being "nickel and dimed" when I'm trying to patronize a business. There is ample parking spaces in the strip mall lot this place is located in but management has taken it upon themselves to block them all off with cones forcing you to Valet in DULUTH. Valet tells us it will be a 10-15 minute wait since we don't have a reservation it's about 11pm at this point. We say fine, pay the valet he takes the car and drives it 100ft. We get to the door and the bouncer tells us it's at 45 minute wait. (Yes, even though we were just told it was 15 minutes by his coworker ). We ask to wait at the bar he says no, we ask to wait in the lobby entrance area (what type of of sit down establishment doesn't have this) he says no and tells us we have to wait in the car. The valet walks up and I ask why he told us it was a 15 minute wait he said "I mean 15-45 it be different wait times". I started to ask this boy if he was a product of APS but it was Ramadan...he don't really understand how Ramadan saved him that day. So we walk back to the car and wait (my date said we shoulda made him drive the car to use since we valeted but I wasn't trying to be petty during Ramadan.) after about 20 minutes he comes and tells us we can come in. Remind you after he parked my car I had my keys the whole time. What kind of valet doesn't keep your keys? Fast forward we're inside. We sit. We wanted a dinner table but they sat us at a hookah/coffee table even though we wanted to eat not smoke hookah. Please make sure you know what you like to drink and don't try your luck on their nasty cocktails that taste like robitussin. They won't allow you to send it back or take it off your bill. We ordered wings as a appetizer. They say 8 American Deli sized wings down in front of us y'all for $18. They were nasty! Also note we got the appetizer AFTER our entree and dessert. The GM brought them to us and when I told her we ordered them she just looked at us with those lashes and said "I mean do y'all y'all still want them or not.". No apologies for them being late or offer to take them off the bill or comp them. Now what if we said no what would have they done? We ordering shots. A shot of crown is $13. THIS IS DULUTH NOT SOUTH BEACH. So sick of these establishments with this velvet furniture yall got at Ross, grass walls, and neon lights thinking that justifies overcharging people. The only reason we didn't hit a Korean spot was because they closed at midnight but we literally could've gotten way more for our money and still spent less than we did here. Now let's get to the food. We both ordered the Rasta Pasta. It's very much a typical black Atlanta restaurant menu . I got it with oxtail he got his with chicken. Now the oxtail was good but y'all when I tell you they had the audacity to charge $22 for just Rasta Pasta with no protein just sauce a bell peppers. The bell pepper chunks were so big y'all. It was definitely giving my 10y/o child cooking me mothers days Rasta pasta in the kitchen. They really down bad. Then it was my dates birthday. I'm thinking you get a birthday dessert comped or something. We spent like $250 in here just us 2. Why they charge us for that. Now maybe I shouldn't have assumed but damn even Ruth Chris gives you a free dessert and this place is for damn sure not Ruth Chris. The service was terrible. I shouldn't have to beg to spend my money with you. It took like 30 minutes for my date to get his first drink and they didn't even know how to make it. Now why the birthday boy waiting on drinks? We tryna order shots back to back and can't even do that. They also had the nerve to try and shame me for wanting regular water. They wanted to charge me $5 for Fiji water I said no the water from the dispenser with lemon is fine. Y'all we had two servers and they both sucked. Then when it was time to leave the valet was gone.
