After watching the exhilarating Knicks and Philly game on Tuesday. My friend was telling me about how good their food was. This was my first time here! The place had plenty of seating with people eating and smoking hookah. They had the latest music playing over the speakers and televisions playing the Pacers and Bucks games. The table we sat at had a few sticky marks but I will give it a 4/5. The staff were cool and laid back. We ordered the taco special. Beef, shrimp and steak. Went to pick up my online order and I just...wow. The food is the only thing that saves this location. Staff is so rude it's hilarious. We stood there for ten minutes and three employees walked by me before my presence was even acknowledged. And the only reason why I was acknowledged was because I said something to a person who I believe was a manger, who actually ended up helping thank goodness. I also spoke to the other three people who walked by and was literally ignored lol Crazy times we're in. We tried wings and catfish along with their fries and $5 tequila sunrises. Everything was DELICIOUS! The hype surrounding this place is REAL! It really is so good! We arrived at 9:00 pm, and a police officer checked our bags plus pats down the males. No weapons allowed here. The place was vibing, and the bar area was pretty packed with the tvs to the various football games, so lots of yelling and fist bumping ! Plus, music was jammin, so kinda hard to talk more like a bar on the weekends, I'm told. But they have $5 lunch specials Monday thru Friday that are fabulous! Our server was distracted and didn't check on us after bringing the food. But kept going outside on her cell phone. Finally got her for the bill, which took 15 mins at least, so when she came with the check, I gave her my cc, and she wanted my license for verification. Well, when she brought it all back, there wasn't a detailed bill, just the subtotal cc bill, and it was $42.25, so I tipped 20%. I visited Harold's for the first time and the food was amazing. But the service and the portion unbelievable. I spent over a hundred dollars to get two pieces of liver in my meal. And I paid thirteen fifty for that meal. And not too mention the cold ass gizzards. And in the future you serve beard with children and fish not with gizzards and livers. Very very disappointed so sad and I love to support my black owned business but we have to do better. We seat at the bar we wasn't greeted until after 20 minutes. The bartenders were smoking Hookahs and fraternizing with customers. One bartender walked around the bar to hug and exchange numbers with. After ordering appetizers and drinks, the appetizers came out ice cold. We sent them back and never received a new order but was still added to the check. We eventually order our respective entrees. We asked for additional condiments. One in particular tartar sauce. We was given condiments after waiting an additional 15 minutes. Coleslaw was given rather than tarter sauce . The bartender never return to even offer us a beverage to indulge while we ate our meals. I asked to speak to a manager and she was smoking hookah as well. She arrived and was not impressed or apologetic. She stated she was in the kitchen when it was cooked and served. Wow really. I absolutely love this chain and have since I discovered it's Edgewood location in 2015. I make sure to eat from them every time I'm near! This birthday I decided to visit town so I could eat from every location, every day, once a day while here as a gift to myself (that's how much I love it!). The server and bartender were good energy, but food took an hour and tasted the worst I've had from them ever. I ate one piece of chicken out of four which was so distasteful in comparison to the 3 other days I had the other locations prior that the rest of the chicken, waffles, and fries were untouched. Since I know I'm eating there again tomorrow and hate to waste, I reached out to the manager (as instructed) about a replacement meal: not only would this 12/9 evening's manager refuse to speak via phone but they wouldn't make any concession for the $30 of inedible food which I still have as proof of my dislike. I was courteous, transparent, yet still met with disdain. The ambiance inside was nice and I even saw a celebrity while ordering takeout, but I'll never eat here again in this economy. Once I got home I see that the 6 piece combo goes for 16.99. My reciept is $21.92 you would think for that price a drink would be included. I guess the waitress got gratuity from my card. My coworker is from Chicago and talked about it like it's the best thing smoking. The food is delicious and good. I will give them that. I went here last weekend for their brunch to continue a birthday celebration for my best friend and while the music was a bit too loud (which I expressed to the manager) everything else was amazing. I ordered the "lil bit of everything" and to be honest, for them to just have opened, all of the food was very well seasoned and really good. There was absolutely no food left on any of our plates, in fact, I told the manager that I had never had Waffles that stayed Hot the entire time I was eating them. It had to be the best waffles I have ever had, if you want good waffles you have to hit their brunch up. The customer service was amazing, the food came out quickly and hot, and management came out to speak to the customers and ask questions about how to make things better. I also just found out they do Karaoke on Wednesdays so I am definitely going to check it out. To top it off, they are open till 1am, which is great because as we all know, everything in Atlanta is closed by 10pm lol. We decided to go the Duluth location over the Edgewood location because parking can be challenging near that location. I'm thinking that I should have, but then again I don't know because this was my first time visiting Harold's because of my Chicago peeps telling me how good the chicken is. For starters, the wait staff was very unprofessionally dressed. Looked like they had just came in from the gym and started working, the cook, or some guy that kept coming in and out of the kitchen looked like he had just came in off the street and started cooking as well. It was a turn off, and I started to get up and walk out, but I said that I would overlook it and order anyway. I ordered the perch and wing combo. 3 wings and a couple of small pieces of fish and the wife had the catfish and wing combo with one decent size piece of fish and 3 wings. The fish was flavorful, but didn't taste very fresh, and the chicken had a weird flavor. If not for the sauce that Harold's is famous for, I couldn't have eaten it. It also seemed a little like it had been sitting out for a while. And the price for those two meals with the $7 gratuity charge was a little over $45. And we only had water to drink. The Harold's in Hyde Park in Chicago is drastically cheaper, and with the catfish and wing combo, you get two pieces of fish. I'm thinking I'll just wait and try it in Chicago next time. read more
