Came here with some friends to grab lunch after doing an escape room. We came at a slow time and opted to sit at the bar. Service was good, but nothing mind-blowing. We were all happy with the food but the beer honestly, was lackluster. Maybe we didn't try the right ones, but we tasted a few and none were even worth purchasing in a pint. Oh well. read more

I came here with some friends for drinks after we had dinner so this will be a review of the drinks and bar. I would say the drinks are okay, but they're nothing to write home about. I ordered an old fashion and my friends mostly ordered beers. I wish their cocktails were more flavorful. Their drink selection was decent but none of the drinks really popped out for me. I would say the atmosphere was very nice. The lighting and ambiance felt more post-modern but there were certain areas of the establishment where I felt they weren't sure what they wanted to do with that area. The bartender was friendly and professional. read more

We decided to try Faces for dinner after a recommendation from a friend. We ordered the Margherita pizza, rosemary garlic chicken wings, the ruby red Paloma and fast fuse. The pizza was fresh out of the oven, it was cheesy and the crust was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. It came in a pretty decent portion - definitely sufficient for two people. The chicken wings were also super good, the rosemary and garlic flavor was very prevalent. It was crunchy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The aioli sauce was a great addition and went well with the pizza too. The ruby red paloma cocktail was refreshing and I loved the pomegranate flavor which was prevalent but not overwhelming. The fast fuse beer was pretty decent as well! read more

The food and drinks are mediocre. You can have most of the drinks at any other bars in town. This place itself is loud as heck. The other funny part is that all the glasses we used were sticky. Our server was just fine. However, we got charged by 20% of tip. If our party is larger than 4 people, this might be reasonable. However, there were only 3 of us. I almost paid an extra 18% of tip if it didn't get pointed that out. The person who slide my card said nothing about the pre-tip and just left in silence. A so-called manager was very rude and holds aggressive attitude toward customers. There are better choices in town, so why bothered? Just here to give this place some beautiful words. read more

Walking thru the center of Malden, my group came across this bright, welcoming former bank that is serve drinks and food than stacks of cash. We stopped in for some drinks to figure out what to make off with before our return trip back to CT. Not doing the typical flights, they offer tastings in 5oz pours and charge between $3 to $6 per glass. We opted to get two sours, two IPAs and three stouts. A lot of what we got had some kind of lactose in it but we were definitely hooked on the flavors of strawberry, kiwi and tartness that we had with the two sours we ordered. With a name like Nunchuck Taylor's we were curious and glad we ordered it for the time. Meanwhile on the other side of the spectrum we had three stouts and two IPA that were pretty stable but the stouts did stand a little further apart in flavor with aroma of chocolate in the stout that made the stout a little easier for a non stout drinker like me. We did walk out with both of the sours, one IPA and a lager as sadly that wasn't on tap. The big pull for us next time would be staying here a little longer and enjoying their food. We kept seeing food come out of the kitchen and they caught our eye for sure. read more

Downtown Malden square and no asian food, holyshit amazing. So it's a brewery, I don't drink beer anymore, but i felt the need to order one, i ordered an IPA it was good, i got full, and then remembered why i don't drink beer. The food was good, pretzels, poutine, pizza i guess we were only eating foods that began with P. Service was fine, tables spaced out, very large inside and when weather is good they have an outside area as well. Parking sucks, period. Malden square is perhaps the worst place to park in any city i have ever been in, but hey keep putting up more condos, im sure that will help. read more

Since my husband and I moved to Malden, Faces has been one of our favorite spots. Even though it's a brewery, Faces has AMAZING cocktails made by the friendliest staff. And a seasonal food menu! Their bar snacks, huge salads, and sandwiches are delicious, and the decor in the old bank it's located in is so unique, pretty, and fun. Highly recommend! read more

This is a brewery that exceeds all expectations. The interior is amazing. The design down to the bathroom is quality. Service was fantastic food was extremely good and varied for all palates. The secret is the event space. Reserve the vault for a dinner for six to eight. There is also a larger space perfect for small function. My only regret was not going for brunch. read more

Good selection of beer in a std modern bar ambiance. Nice open space and the old bank vault is a neat feature. Best pork carnitas tacos I've had, and solid wings. Will definitely be returning. read more

I usually only come here for dinner and I'm glad that I finally stopped for brunch. We stopped on a Saturday afternoon and ordered the following: Chicken and Waffles, Hangover Burger, Margherita Pizza, and Gluten free breakfast pizza. The chicken and waffles offer a great blend of sweet and salty with a large portion of chicken. The burger looked delicious and the pizzas were both amazing. I also ordered the Progression beer which was a tasty NEIPA. I love that they kept the decorations of the bank with the vault and the chandeliers. Especially cool how the vault can be used as a private dining room. The server was attentive and checked up on us often. Glad I was able to try this place for brunch. Hoping the White Bronco cans make a come back! read more

Great addition to Malden right on Pleasant St. Easy street parking or garage. Large inside space and large tent in back when weather permits. Good beer and decent food as well. Prices are higher than expected and no additional discount on small pours (a few 5 oz pours were more than half their full pour cost). Tots with miso tasting sauce were delicious, bavarian brat was good, steak and eggs was just alright for the price. Look forward to trying some of the other brews and dishes. read more

Met up with a couple friends here to watch the Patriots based on their recommendation of the place and it didn't disappoint. Very spacious and efficient layout with high ceilings once you walk in - center bar dominated the area with a fair number of TVs mounted above, tables to left and high-tops and booths to the right. Festive decorations for Christmas gave the area a nice warmth and togetherness. Seated at a table, it was great that they had a TV screen dedicated to the current tap list, which they rotate. The Progression NE IPA was smooth with a fair fruit-forward punchiness (would venture Mosaic and Citra but I could be off). I followed that with the Commander Cream Ale, which was pretty solid and crushable and served as a bit of a palate cleanser as it was lighter in ABV. My friends thought Yanni's Finest Lager was refreshing, the Disco Zombie Saison a bit sour for one and refreshing for the other and the Stag English Pale Ale solid. For food, we ordered the ramen tots with soy aioli dipping sauce and hickory smoked wings with two different pairings - mesquite dry rub BBQ and sweet chili. I much preferred the sweet chili since the flavor was more well-rounded but the mesquite dry rub wasn't too far off. Will have to say that the waitresses were very attentive and nice, checking up on us every so often if we needed another drink but also noticing the level of liquid before asking/not asking. For the wings, we asked about the flavor profile of the death pepper and joked about the consequences with one of the waitresses. Even though we opted out of that condiment, she was nice enough to give some to us. And just like what the waitress mentioned, there's a hint of sweetness at the very beginning but immediately followed by burning pain, which eventually subsided. Very glad I took only a miniscule amount about the size of the head of a thumbtack. I went after it a couple more times after. I rounded out the night with two espresso martinis, made with dark roast coffee and a good amount of rum. Both were very enjoyable, though the second had less alcohol. Faces Brewing does have concerts from time to time, just check out the events schedule on their website. Will also have to return after winter to experience the patio. read more

I've been multiple times solo along with my large family (lots of kids) and we're always treated well and leave happy. I particularly like the food options / price levels, and the fresh beer. Location in beautifully restored historic building with lots of space to stretch out helps with ambiance. They attract good clientele of folks just looking to get out and enjoy a bite, a drink, or a little bit of both. Great place for conversation! read more

Great find. Food was delicious, good portion: nice atmosphere. Variety of drinks. Happy to o head back here!

I went here for brunch with a few friends and enjoyed the experience. Even though it's a brewery, they have a full bar. For brunch, they had mixed brunch shots made to taste like different cereals. For a crowd that's almost 30, being able to guzzle down multiple shots made us feel young again! The food was delicious, they had interesting creations like ramen tots and classics like chicken and waffle. Overall, great place and would come again! read more

Faces closes at 7:PM on Sunday. We - my wife and I - arrive at 6:PM to try it out. Big smiles; we're celebrating our anniversary and left the kids at home. Life is good and this place is new and beautiful. Nobody is there to greet us, which is fine. I can see four staff and they can all see us. We wait one minute. Two. What is going on? Finally, one of the staffers walks around the bar, past two of her colleagues, with an electronic device in hand and scowls at us, "The kitchen is closing soon so if you want food you'll have to put in your order, like, soon." Us, "Wait, what? So are you serving dinner?" Her, "Yeah but, like I said, the kitchen is closing soon so you need to put your order in." Us, "But- don't you close at 7?" Her, "Yes." Us, "So does that mean we are going to be ushered out at 7?" Her, "Basically, yeah, you'll have to leave." Us, "What? Really?" Her, "So do you want me to put in your order?" Keep in mind it was very, very loud in there (high ceilings and all hard surfaces). Still, we went in with smiles and were received with bitterness and probably some sort of existential crisis that was happening, though that's pure speculation on my part. Going out I expect a minimum level of courtesy and service, otherwise I can just eat at home sans scowls and eyerolls. I wish Faces the best. I want Malden businesses to succeed, but they clearly need hospitality training and probably some love from the management. read more

Great beer and great food. Ultra wave ipa is perfection in a can. Will be back soon

The outdoor patio at Faces Brewing has been one of the handful of places that I've continued to visit during the pandemic, and I'm SO happy to have it in downtown Malden. (And I can't wait to spend more time very soon in their indoor space, which I have only seen a few brief times, but is absolutely beautiful!) The most important part of a brewery (the beer, duh) is knocked out of the park at Faces, and I don't think I've tried a beer here that I don't like. Personal favorites include the Kiwi Strawberry Mahalo, Pink Guava Mahalo (can you tell I like anything with the word Mahalo in it?!), and the Progression IPA. I'm a bit picky when it comes to IPAs, but Progression is one of the best I've had. They also have cocktails and wine - which I really appreciate for a brewery, since I know beer is not everyone's thing. The food I've had has all been terrific as well - the pretzels are top notch, and the pizza is great as well. Prices (for both food and drinks) trend a bit on the higher side for Malden, but I think the quality and service make it worth it. One thing I've noticed is that there are some nights (even beautiful weather) where the beer garden is not open, so I suggest keeping a close eye on their Facebook page for beer garden hours if that is what you are planning on going for (I'm hoping they expand their hours as we get fully into summer and fall). SO beyond happy to have a place like Faces right down the road from us in Malden, and I can't wait to continue to explore their beer selection and menu! read more

Came for the outdoor patio having heard the food and beers were great and was not let down. The patio (parking lot) was nicely set up with shade and tables far apart from one another. Service was quick (I don't think we waited more than 3 minutes between ordering a beer and receiving it) even though (nearly?) all the tables were taken. Everyone enjoyed the beers that they had - even the sour was almost at the level I want (I want to make a face when I drink it). We had the pretzels and falafel. Both were great and easy to share in a covid safe way as the pretzels were sticks and not wrapped together. read more

My favorite local brewery. Awesome food, especially the pizza, and an ever revolving menu of great beers. The people who own, run, and work at Faces are all incredible. I consider myself very lucky to live a few blocks from this place. Weekend brunch is also killer. Top that off with the fact that they host bands in the backroom on a regular basis and this place has become my Cheers. 6 out of 5 stars. read more

Tl;dr: food was disappointing and over priced. Bad acoustics made it difficult to hear people at our table. Beer was reportedly very good. We've walked by Faces many times and have been wanting to try the newest addition to Malden's growing (but humble) food scene. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. This review is primarily focused on the food, but I understand that Faces is a brewery and so you may be more interested in the beer. If you're only interested in the beer, take this review with a pinch of salt. We had the wings, pretzel, and burger. The wings were dry and rubbery. The pretzel was ok. The burger was edible but looked and tasted as if it was made with a frozen patty. My friend had a beer (I think it was the blonde stout) and said it was very good, however. We weren't fans of the atmosphere either. I think most people who go to Faces are going to want to sit and talk with others at their table, but the acoustics are such that the room is too loud and it's difficult to hear people at your table. The old bank vault doors are pretty cool, but aren't visible from the main area and so don't add much to the atmosphere. read more

The good: - never crowded - decent food - sports on TV if you're into that The bad: - poor service - QR code menus - beers are ok at best (sours taste like kool-aid) - unwelcoming vibe I tried to like this place. The food is pretty good, and the beer is acceptable. The service is pretty spotty, though - seat yourself and wait around forever for someone to deal with your order. It's always empty in there so it's not like they're busy. The last time we visited Faces we sat down around 7:45pm and within 15 minutes no one had taken our order. The staff were all standing at the back of the room chatting with each other. Multiple people looked right at us but no one came over, even when we tried (politely!) to get their attention. Bizarre experience. Maybe they should just stick to beer. read more

TL;DR- this place is bomb. Go here (or like don't because that means i get to keep it all to myself. So, I admittedly procrastinated in writing this review because I wanted to keep them all to myself but in a world where COVID is closing businesses left and right (restaurants especially) I feel I have to shout from the mountaintops HOW MUCH THIS PLACE ROCKS. They have a seasonal menu that is always filled with amazing eats and treats. I know that they're a brewery but this place does not in anyway live up to the stereotype of breweries having bad food. They're menus are crafted with intention and finesse. You are of course reading this to know more about the drinks though, their brews are amazing. Beautifully crafted. I'm a porter and stout kinda girl so the commander and coffee Ferrari are my faves (which are both silky perfection) but I consistently bring friends here and they also loved their sours and IPAs. For you non beer drinkers, don't fret. They have your usual go to liquors and have recently branched into seasonal cocktails like this amazing "New fashioned" (pictured) which is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy and they now offer to go cocktails such as the pumpkin pie margarita. Additional pluses, this is the first restaurant that made me feel safe after everything reopened post (but not really) 'Rona. Most restaurants space the tables 6ft apart but they seem to have measured from the seat rather than the table at least six feet apart which I appreciated to no end. The staff also stands away from the table to take your order and are all wearing masks. They're also all super friendly and attentive. Bonus points, they also have bomb merch. Bought a water bottle, put stuff in it (may or may not have been a cocktail for a picnic) and I had ice ALL DAY in the blazing sun. Basically, just go here. You won't regret it. I didn't even get to atmosphere which is a vibe btw but this review is too long already. read more

Good good. Fast service. Bohemian vibe. Better than bar food quality. We'll definitely repeat our visit.

Amazing, cool, trendy old bank converted to a new brewery. this place has plenty of function spaces that can be made private for smaller gatherings. There are plenty of tv screens to catch a game. We had lunch here on a Saturday and ate at the outdoor space. The inside space is pretty stunning- its a former bank - First bank of Malden I think. The outdoor space has a good number of tables and a lot of shade. There were some high tops and corn hole. Service was friendly and quick. The sour beer was great, and the IPAs were enjoyed as well. There's a full bar of beer isn't your thing. The food was just ok. It was a little bit overpriced for what it was. They serve brunch and dinner. We had the falafel sandwich and French dip. The falafel sandwich was different from the first time (according to my friend). The French dip sandwich was a LOT of bread, not a lot of meat, so that was a little annoying. Fun to try, not sure we would do food again, but the drinks were great read more

Faces is a very solid brewery. Happy to have it in Malden Center and hope they continue to develop extraordinary beer. Beer [8/10] - pretty nice liquid coming out the taps. I kinda use Night Shift as my barometer. They aren't quite on that level (yet?), but I think they have potential. Everything I've had has been solid. But I'm waiting for something to knock my socks off like Lamplighter & Night Shift have done to me. Really hope they can as this is only a 5 min walk from me. Food [7/10] - Tough to rate the food w one number. Certain items are really outstanding, while others fall flat. There was a citrus salad on the menu w a lemon yogurt dressing and it was divine. Yet other items are just mediocre. Service [8.5/10] - very nice people working there. Looks like they enjoy working w each other too. Attentive. Atmosphere [8/10] - truly a unique place as it is in an old bank. You can reserve an old vault to dine in if you want! There's also a really cool back bar as well as a rear beer garden! My only qualm has been the music levels on occasion. I think they are in a tricky spot w their high ceilings and the reverberations. But, I also think it's possible to manage by paying attention to it. Wanted to take my parents here, but my mom who suffers from hearing loss would have been drowned out of the convo w the music levels as they were (they were even loud for me). We ended up going somewhere else on this occasion. read more

Great beer, great food. I think the beer here is some of the best the area has to offer, especially if your sick of IPAs and in the mood for some sours or Hefeweizens. The food is really good too. Ive had the chicken and waffles as well as the breakdance sando. You should ask for sauce if you want ketchup or hot sauce though to come with your fries or pizza.
