Look and feel your best; this is how I feel every time I leave Face Value Beauty Bar for my waxing and skin care needs. I've been seeing Julie for a few years now and she's always given the best-in-class service leaving me looking and feeling great. Aside from the high-quality job her prices are super competitive compared to big brand names and commercial enterprises who offer the same within the area and charge twice as much and take twice as long. That being said, it's a no-brainer to go with Julie as her skill is in a top-tier class all on its own. Aside from this, Julie is very personable, and it feels like interacting with a friend for a more humanized experience vs something transactional as just another customer/client. This adds a layer of personal touch thus she makes you feel understood with a more consultative approach to understanding human relations as much as she knows the technicalities of her services and skin care itself. Which is a great foundation of Face Value Beauty Bar being so successful. All in all, if you're reading this then without a doubt, I highly recommend Julie for your waxing and skin care needs. You'll love the outcome of the services you get, how you look, and how you feel! I 100% guarantee it! Julie is amazing! I always get a full chest and back wax. I have never had trouble scheduling. She is very kind and professional.

I Went in for a Brazilian wax. Julie took good care of me. She was friendly and calming through out the whole process. This was my first time getting waxed and I will be going back to her! read more

Hands down, Julie & Todd are the absolute best Brazilian wax specialists In the Chicagoland area. I've literally been everywhere in their surrounding area from expensive corporate day spas to the less expensive waxing "chop shop" boutiques and they're first-rate in every way. They're cleanliness, professionalism, customer service and attention to detail truly sets them apart from all others. I especially love how I can see either Julie or Todd and still receive that supreme level of comfort and service either way. They crush the competition! read more

Face Value is owned and operated by a husband-wife team. Their space is part of a multi-unit salon building. I bought a Living Social deal for three bikini waxes and a Groupon for a facial, and I must say, I was so pleased with all of my services! Julie and Todd are really down-to-earth, and they do such a great job of making their clients feel so comfortable. I'm completely sold! They are now my number one choice for waxes and skin services. During the second trimester of my pregnancy, my back was breaking out, which has never happened to me before. I went to Julie for a back treatment, and my skin has been clear ever since then! Their salon space is very clean, and I could definitely tell that they take precautions to make sure everything is sterile. Even if you are nervous about your first wax, I think you would find Julie and Todd very comforting and friendly. They act like it's no big deal, which is a great attitude to have, and it will put you right at ease. And ladies, don't be creeped out by the thought of a man doing your waxing. Todd is trained, certified and very professional. At no point have I ever felt awkward or uncomfortable. In fact, he did my waxing when I was nearly 37 weeks pregnant, and he made sure to ask how I was doing and if I was comfortable throughout the process. Great guy. I've been to a number of different salons for waxing over the years, and Face Value takes the cake. read more

Superior service and care! I was always nervous about getting waxing and facial services as I had never had a professional wax and my skin was basically a "hot mess" However, thanks to Julie I never have to say that again! In fact after being a client there for some time now, my skin has improved leaps and bounds thanks to her care and recommendation of home skin care line and how to use it properly. I now get tons of people thinking I'm still in my mid twenties when I'm actually early thirties! And I don't ever where makeup! Its all just from their good skin care! Before coming to Face Value I had never had any professional waxing done. I was super nervous and Julie has never made feel uncomfortable... in fact just the opposite! Her skill level and passion for her job is amazing! I have also had the pleasure of receiving services from Todd as well! They are an amazing team! Whatever skin services you need look no further they have got the best and the greatest skill and service! read more

I bought a some coupon for a facial last summer and thought I'd try out not only a facial but this new place. I was a bit surprised when I first showed up not knowing the "set-up" of her salon. It's in a larger building with little, independent shops throughout. So, this establishment is seperate from the others. I guess it's a very European type concept which was pretty cool. The actual room/office was quite nice...very clean and comfortable. The facial was great - she did a great job explaining things to me but allowed me to enjoy the experience. Since then I've gone back for some waxing. I had a bikini wax done before my wedding and did a great job. I would go back for sure, and recommend her to anyone. Her rates are great too! read more

I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for such a long time, they were always uneven, some spots were thicker and thinner in different areas. Finally I saw a place close to me that does eyebrows wax's. So I called and made an appointment with Todd, Wow, so professional, nice clean area, me spend an easy 45 minutes on my eyebrows and got me looking right! I now will be a loyal costumer for life. All you fellas out there, you need to see Todd, I'm Sure he will make you look right! Thanks Todd so much, I can't wait to come back to you for life. Adam. read more

As a business owner with a 100% five-star rating myself, I know what it takes to maintain an excellent business and I recognize that ability in Julie in spades. She is, hands down, the best waxing technician and aesthetician I have ever gone to. I will definitely keep coming back. read more

Soooooo.....I finally decide to muster the courage for the dreaded "Brazilian Wax." Prior to taking that step, I had sent out a mass email to all my girls to see if anyone had done it before and if they had any recommendations and or insight on how to better prepare myself. Out of the 20 some girls, 2 had it previously done, everyone came back and said...I've always wanted to try it, but hey.....let me know how it goes.....I'm curious, they say. So, after searching online, I came across Face Value Skin Spa's website and really liked the type of services offered and their pricing. I reviewed the big chain spas and their pricing was out of the question....especially if you want to try something new like hair removal. I made my appointment and was pretty much nervous with anticipation.....I mean, so many women and men have this done, it can't possibly be THAT bad, right? I see this big building and realize that it's a buffet of independent business owners that specialize in beauty....great concept, one stop shop! I meet the very friendly, Julie, Business Owner, the Wonder Woman of Estheticians! Julie very quickly puts me at ease and answered all my questions. I felt I had known her for years...and this was within the first 2 minutes. Her salon is clean and she takes all the proper precautions to ensure cleanliness and safety. The waxing experience itself....wasn't that bad. Yes, there is some pain, but it goes very quickly that by the time you realize it, POOF....Smooth, Silky, Sexy Skin!! After a couple months of having the waxing services, I decide to treat myself to my spa days and incorporate facials. Julie has magic hands! Her facials are more relaxing to me than a back massage. My skin truly looks amazing. After I leave her salon, my skin feels tighter, my skin looks brighter, old acne scarring from my teen years are barely visible. In fact, I don't even have to wear as much makeup as before. The blemishes/scarring/dark spots are literally disappearing. My friends recently commented on how much younger I was looking and what was I doing differently. I have not changed my beauty products at all. Julie works with you and doesn't push her products on you which is fantastic. After I received the compliments, I did purchase the under eye cream and night crème. You only have to use a little bit and it goes a long way. I've had these creams for about 6 months and still have not had to replenish them. The products are very reasonably priced. Julie is by far the best kept secret in Algonquin! Ladies and Gents, don't waste another minute! Make your appointment, Get Waxed, Get a Facial, Get them both! You will not regret it! You'll thank me for it, I promise! read more

I had such a great experience here! I had a full Brazilians and underarm wax. My appointment was with Julie and she was so professional and efficient. She was so friendly and made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire wax. The salon was very clean and she took extra precautions to ensure it was clean and sanitary, including not double dipping. The prices are VERY reasonable and competitive with near by places. I would recommend this spa to any of my friends and family and I can't wait to come back! read more

As you can see by all the 5 star reviews here, this place is the best. I get regular facials and brazilian waxes and have been everywhere. One place left me in tears and cleaning wax off myself. What can you expect? At the end of the hall is this little hide away. Enter to a warm and friendly greeting. Undress as required or necessary and feel instantly comfortable knowing that there is no one else around. Enter Julie or Todd to go over your service, give you a professional and comfortable experience and make you feel at ease. If you are having a wax, it is done with the utmost efficiency. Their techniques are top notch. You are left clean and hairless (in your desired area) and i have never even had a breakout from them. If you are having a facial, the privacy and quiet of the room, their knowledge and technique and the relaxing atmosphere have you in heaven for your hour. I get chemical peels and have loved each one. My skin feels so clean and refreshed. I wish I could do it monthly! Whether you see Julie or Todd, you are in the most skilled hands in the industry. You won't be disappointed. And one other thing I love. Because this is a suite type business, you only deal with your service provider - Julie or Todd. No receptionist, assistant or other salon guests to interrupt or disrupt your peaceful and private experience. It's awesome! Now, call them right away!!!!! read more

Julie was kind, friendly, and professional. Facility was clean and well maintained. Service was well done. I will be going back.

This is the best and in my opinion, "the only" place for male waxing out here in the suburbs without question. The place is absolutely spotless, ultra clean and professional. Super friendly and totally accommodating and welcoming. Appointments were a breeze and my schedule was 100% on time. I can't stress enough how calming the procedure was made for me. Brazillians are not the most common male wax job, (and I have had a couple already) but hands down, this was the best experience I've had so date! I've rated the price ($$) value in a honest comparison to all the other waxing salons, but actually the real value is in the human factor and care demonstrated. No judgements, snide looks or attitude that I had encountered at other salons. - priceless - I live closer to the city but do the short drive out for my personal services! It's well worth the few minutes of extra driving. Try them out and you will be a believer too. read more

Clearly this one woman spa should not be offering Goupons that she can not fulfill. The Groupon expired March 22. I was told there were no appointments until the week of March 27. Then she finds out that I am using a Groupon and now she is filled up through the end of March. She tells me I can ask Groupon for a refund or use if towards future services. Really?? Why would I ever want to go somewhere that is not even professional enough to say..Yes I am over booked with these Groupons and the soonest I can get you in is such and such date. Instead I got a ..but I would be willing to honor it if you booked it for MAY! Wow! Umm what happened to April? What a joke! Anyone that would like the see the documented emails of this conversation, I wil gladly send them your way. read more

My wife and I both go here when we visit family, which is often. This is the best place in all of Chicagoland. Don't hesitate.

I've been seeing Julie for Brazilians for over a year now. She is truly the best esthetician I have ever had. She is incredibly kind, thorough, and highly skilled. Face Value has high standards for the services they provide and it shows every time you enter the spa. The facility is immaculate and very welcoming! I recently moved to Chicago and despite the overwhelming amount of estheticians in my new neighborhood, I find myself making the 50 mile drive to receive services from Julie. In addition to Brazilian's I have also received facials from Julie and yet again was thrilled with the service and the result. Look no further for an esthetician! Julie is the one! read more

I absolutely LOVED my first Brazilian wax ever! Julie was so nice and made me feel so comfortable. I was definitely nervous to make my appt and get it done, and I had a lot of questions when I called. Julie called me and informed me of everything I needed to do to prep and what I was to expect. She took the time to make me feel as comfortable as possible and she was so great to talk to! I will definitely be returning because the results were amazing!! And I would recommend her to everyone! Thanks again Julie!!! read more

Never treated myself to anything. Busy with raising children and career. After noticing my aging, dry skin decided to make an appointment at Face Value Skin Spa. Not only did I feel pampered but my skin felt more pliable and had a soft glow to it. Julie was very informative and suggested a regimen for my skin care which I agreed to. Aging gracefully has always been my motto but what we ladies don't realize is that a little help goes a long way! read more

Julie is awesome and professional, especially with the more sensitive services like waxing. The studio is warm, welcoming clean and neat and not "clinical and cold" as some of the other waxing services in the area. I have been to another expensive waxing service provider where the client sits on a cold doctors exam table, no paper, just the cold table that is cleaned with Cavi wipes and you lie there with your bare legs to get waxed. Not so at face value, here you lie on a comfy reclining spa chair with a head rest and clean paper rolled out for each client and get a towel for your modesty. Julie is a great conversationalist and makes the time fly. Her prices are reasonable and its fairly easy to get an appointment. I highly recommend this place. read more
