I have been here several times and the experience is typically very good. My last experience for a mani/pedi is mixed. The pedi was very good. Tech recommended the most beautiful shade and was very happy with the result! The mani was another story. My nails are natural, and length is uneven. Which I am okay with. I don't do mani's very often but had a wedding. The tech asked if I wanted to keep length on my pinkies (longest length) and I said she cut trim some. Well, she cut down ALL my nails even below the length of the nail bed. Never in my life have my nails been trimmed so short. Like stubs. While a few of the nails were shorter, many of them had length. I didn't realize she had done this until she had finished the first hand, so at that point the damage was done. I didn't want to say anything to offend her at that point, but was upset about the situation. When she finished I told her that my nails were shorter than I wanted and that no other tech had ever cut my nails so short. And was there a reason she that? Her response was that she made her best judgment to cut them that way so they would grow out more evenly. That was not her choice to make. While she spent a lot of time shaping and cleaning my nails, I was very unhappy with the mani service, and don't want anyone else to experience what happened to me. read more

I came out to Spa Bleu in West Dundee to get a Lash Lift and Tint. The West Dundee location has been around for 20 years and their second location in South Barrington for 15 years. I have never been to here before nor have I had this service done before. Upon arrival, there was a check in counter and merchandise displays. The reception staff seemed a bit disorganized with first thinking I was going to the general area but then changing to go to the spa area. They did offer water, coffee, or tea. The service room was rather bare with a treatment bed, equipment, sound machine, and millwork for supplies and sink access. Overall, the space did not wow me and could benefit from color and artwork. I had the pleasure of working with Taylor for my service. She was extremely kind, professional, and efficient with time. The entire service took 45 minutes. I did have a bit of stinging from the chemicals used but understood that to be only when trying to apply close to the lash line. I really liked the end results but noticed a couple lashes going in the wrong direction and not much of a tint on my bottom lashes. The service was $109 in total which did feel like a bit steep after seeing the end outcome. I recommend considering the service only if you truly have long, full lashes naturally. read more

This was an amazing experience! This Aveda brand salon offers stress relieving aromatherapy and a gentle massage to start. Julia was phenomenal. She listened to my issues and desires about my hair. She was very honest in the beginning, letting me know that my desires for hair color may not be possible with my hair. I would rather know the truth, instead of being told that it is possible and the results are disappointing. Julia got me where I wanted as far as color and cut. One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Let's start by saying I had an appointment and sat there for 20 min. When finally approached they had me pick a color, they maybe had 20 colors to pick from, she couldn't find a simple white. I'm trying all the colors on my acrylic nails and also when I called they told me they didn't do acrylic so they had to take my nails off and they were going to do a different procedure which would've cost me $30 it was like a 10 minute conversation. When I mention my manicure she says you're not scheduled for a manicure and I don't have time to do a no chip pedicure either, which is what I asked for she basically had 15 minutes to do my toes and that was it I go what do you mean I scheduled this week on the phone for about 15 minutes talking about my nails she said there's no recollection and there's no appointments available. With that said the only reason I want this but I have a gift card, now I can't even use that because I had to leave. They were very unprofessional to not go in here I don't know where all these good reviews are coming in from must be maybe the hairstylist because they are very unorganized and I've been getting my nails done for 40 years I had to walk out with my acrylic nails with a bunch of different colors on them they didn't even offer to take that paid off. The nail technicians were nice & personable- they were also easy to understand which was wonderful so they knew what we wanted. Easy check out process - can tip on your card or in cash. I was a regular here for 16 years - NEVER again. Showed up for my December appointment that I booked at my prior appointment, in person, 16 weeks ago, and was rudely told by some high school girl that I wasn't on the schedule. Turns out spa bleu staff messed up and double booked my appointment, but they "could get me in some other time." I asked if I could speak to my stylist, Amanda E, that I'd been seeing for years, and she refused to come out to speak to me about the issue. Amanda also blew me off when I messaged her over a week before the appointment asking about the style for my upcoming cut, a standard thing we've been communicating during my 16 years as her client. However, Amanda couldn't even let me know I wasn't on her schedule. The lack of communication by the spa bleu staff is disappointing and unacceptable. The rude receptionist, the inability to correctly manage a schedule, along with Amanda not even coming out to apologize when she overheard and was very aware what was happening, lost Spa Bleu a customer. When I got there they told me they can do a quick express manicure and that's all. My appointment was for a no chip manicure that basically takes the same amount of time. I'm a guy with thinning hair and what I have is difficult; colic's and other fun follicle inspired challenges for anyone trying to cut it. For the past two years I have been using a clipper, one length all over, its boring. So I decided to try Spa Bleu. The service was great, from the time I entered to the time I left, the entire staff made me feel welcome. The facility (West Dundee) was clean and fresh; not that chemical smell you get at many hair salons. Christy was the lucky person to tackle my mess of hair. Never once has a person been able to tame the colic, cut the hair I have and have me accept it the first time out...for that matter never even the second, but Christy did. On top of an amazing hair cut I got a scalp massage that was really a massage and a hand massage (a first when getting my hair cut). The experience was great, Christy actually paid attention to my hair, while still making the conversation comfortable not creepy like you can get at other salons! I think after five years of living in the West Dundee area, I have finally found a place to get a hair cut that fits my lifestyle and schedule. read more

I was looking to have a facial massage so I tried Spa Bleu. The atmosphere of the place is good very modern deco and chill. They gave me a robe and slippers, the music was relaxing and the length of the facial massage/ cleansing was ok, the only thing is I felt it was overpriced and the girl who did my massage wasn't welcoming or warm. Went back for a two-chicks pedicure. Dawn, my tech was fantastic. Very congenial and not pushy. She must've thought we needed a night out -- gave both of us a hand treatment and me Aveda lip gloss. This salon has impeccable customer service. The stylists are incredibly talented and the process of getting my hair cut is so relaxing. The front staff is friendly and always have smiles on their faces. Jameson is an amazing stylist. These stylists are up on all the latest trends and styles and are always in a good mood. Can't say enough great things about them. The only complaint I have is that some of the stylists (not all) do the hard-sell on the products (not their fault, they obviously get big commissions on it or have to meet quotas) and that gets annoying. If they wanted to do it in style, they would have little note cards that they write their recommendations on at the end, hand it to you and then the cashiers can ask if you would like to purchase any of the recommended items and be done with it. Wow! I was beyond impressed with this salon. Tucked away off of Second Street in downtown Dundee, this place is a gem. From the very moment you set foot in the door you are pampered with offers of hot, scented towels, herbal tea or water in a nurturing zen-like atmosphere. I was having a shampoo, blowout and style with Riley who started me off with a lovely hand, neck and shoulder massage using Aveda's scented oils. Honestly, I nearly fell asleep I was so relaxed. This was followed by a shampoo in this incredibly comfortable chair which gently vibrated. Just when I thought it could not get better I received a beautiful hand massage! We then went on to Riley's station where she worked her magic on my less than awesome hair. I was so thrilled with the blowout and styling. She absolutely listened to what I wanted and delivered! It was a rainy, humid day and I was going to a wedding that night. My hair looked spectacular. My husband told me I looked "hot" and I got several compliments that night. I was able to get an appointment on short notice (points to them for the online appointments!) and scheduled myself for a hot stone massage with Danielle. Overpriced for underwhelming hair cuts. I felt extremely uncomfortable because the entire time I was there I kept getting sales pitches to buy Aveda products on my way out. came here for a Brazilian wax the other day and it was the worst waxing of my life! technician was overbearing and did not do a good job. when getting a full Brazilian wax, you would assume that everything (hair) is going to go unless otherwise stated, right? wrong in this case. she kept reapplying wax to the same areas after incorrectly applying the first time so that more hair was left behind than would expected which she then tried to tweeze (ouch). The tweezing was inefficient as well, she tried multiple times to get the same hair before moving on the next which left my skin extremely irritated. when it was time to get the hairs inside (vagina, buttocks) she did a horrible job. she didn't pull the wax strip properly so it only broke off the hairs instead of pulling them out at the root. after she was done, i pointed out the areas i was unsatisfied with, she thanked me for bringing it to her attention and proceeded to wax again but still pulled up no hair and acted like she had. i was extremely disappointed with the service, especially after being charged $65. i paid the girl and even gave a tip but i promise, i will NEVER be back. read more

Went in for an eyebrow wax and explained how sensitive my skin is. The girl assured me that she understood. I asked her to cool the wax slightly before applying to my skin, and she agreed. BUT, when I got home a while later, I noticed that SHE BURNED ME! I had a mark in the middle of my head in the exact shape of the wax application tool. Not worth the $24 to walk around with a burn on my face for a week. :( read more
