After becoming disenchanted with the salon I've been going to for the past 2 years, looked on my trusty Yelp and found this salon, which is quite close to my house and has great reviews. Called, let them assign me to a stylist, and went for my appointment. (About a 4 day lead time for an evening appointment - not bad at all!) Ended up with Abby - she was willing to help consult with me on my hair, and helped me pick between a few options (something I find a lot of hairdressers can't do for some reason) - so I appreciated that. Abby asked at each step of the way what my preferences are - and the end result - I'm happy with my cut. Booked to go back in a month. I may end up bumping this review up to a 5 - too early to tell just yet - but so far, so good. Oh yeah - prices are reasonable, and they have many other salong services - body wraps, manicures, massages, etc. It's a little hard to figure out where it is initially - it's in behind the BP Gas Station across from Walmart. (Who knew there was a named street back there?!?!) It looks like you can get into from the BP, or you can turn onto County Line, then turn left almost right away onto Commerce. Needed to switch salons because my other one was getting really expensive. I used to go to Spa Bleu but they charge me like $75 each time. Enough was enough so I called Salon37 today and asked for a haircut appointment. I was placed with stylist Linda and she was very open to what I wanted to do with my hair. She suggested a couple new things to do with my hair so I trusted her and went with what she said. It turned out great! Better than I expected. Price is not bad either for what you get!! Best haircut I've ever had that I completely love! I found my new hair salon that I plan to stick with as long as I can!! If it's your first time here ask for Linda she's great and down to earth and it willing to teach her clients tips and tricks to keep hair healthy. read more

Mistakes happen- things go wrong- people don't always do their best- what is important is how the problem is corrected. My first visit was not great and I left there very unhappy with my hair. When I voiced the problem to the owners they were diligent in fixing it and making it right. They set me up with Kristen and she took her time to understand what I wanted and even pulled out swatches to make sure I got exactly what I was looking for. She spent hours fixing my hair and made sure I was 100% happy with my hair. They showed me how much they really do care about anyone that walks in the door!!! I left there so happy! I honestly couldn't be more thrilled!! I have been going to the same salon for years, and love what they do. A lot. But it's a 25 min drive one way, and I needed someplace closer. This was a really hard decision, but made with help from Yelp. I went on Saturday, the place is great from the front desk on. The girl at the desk was very nice, friendly, cheerful. She was a great first impression, offered water etc. I waited about 30 seconds for Nora to come and get me. I chose Nora, again from Yelp, and what a great choice. My hair looks fabulous! The cut is adorable, the highlights are perfect. Nora is also a great personality. I saw comments regarding the salon being outdated, or for their mom's, I didn't get that vibe. There was a mix of customers from early 20's on (oh, and a screaming toddler who's parents thought this was a good place for the first hair cut). I really was quite happy with my old salon, but Nora makes it really easy to move on. Can't recommend this place enough! read more

Cut and hilites with sue. My hair didn't turn as bright as I wanted to. But I understand, I let my lites lapse. The cut came out nice. This was my first time here. Sue didn't seem very conversational. It was kind of akward. I have no issues sitting quietly. I was told she almost did a full foil, but next time she'll do a full foil. Yet it appears I was charged a full foil. Overall, it wasn't too bad. I'd possibly return. The other spa services seem overpriced according to the brochure. But I'll probably stick with my usual stylist. I was trying something new. read more

She did a wonderful job and was very honest about the coloring options and what the turnout might be. They were very nice and often offering something to drink. I wish I could give more stars! New to the area, I went here based on other Yelp reviews and couldn't be happier! Nora cut and colored my hair - both were done exactly as I requested. The salon is neat and clean and everyone was very friendly. I will definitely continue going here. Oh! Prices! I only spent $93 on both! I was expecting a $200 bill and almost fell over when the receptionist told me it was $93. Seriously..... GO. HERE. Don't tie Nora up, though. Amy did my hair and she was great. I never been here before and brought in a photo of my hair from 6 months ago. She highlighted it exactly like my photo! I am pretty picky about my highlights and I really liked it. She also cut my hair and did a nice job on it. A cut and highlight for $135 that is tough to find in the Chicago area, especially at a salon. I will go back to Amy again for sure. read more

I just realized that Salon 37 has a yelp page and I have missed out on writing a review. I found them through google, was looking for a new salon and boy I sure am glad i found them. I have fine hair, really fine hair and it's a pain to style, somehow Nora gets it, every single time. I have had the same hair style for longer than I'll care to admit, not a fan of change, Nora actually sold me on bangs one one of my visits since I was complaining about having the same hair style and switching my hair part to the opposite side and they turned out awesome...and what do you know, I have not changed from the change.. Both my girls ( they are 14 and 17 ) have Nora cut their hair, one has thick straight hair, the other has really thick curly hair and they are always pleased with the results too. Nora actually takes so much time and effort to straighten my younger one's hair after her cut and I feel bad because of how curly and thick her hair is but my daughter loves it and Nora doesn't mind doing it so I stay out of the picture :) Rebecca does my facials, and every time I walk out feeling so refreshed, and my skin has not looked better, which says a lot for someone who is 41 and very lazy about skin care. Came here about a month ago to get a haircut with Nora. First time coming here... and there were such great reviews, I thought I'd give it a shot. After leaving, I thought my hair looked great until I came home and my husband actually pointed out how uneven it was. I took my jacket off and there was honestly a whole chunk of hair hanging half way down my back, that had not been cut? Either way... it ended up looking so bad, the next day I had to go to a pricier salon to get it fixed. Definitely won't be going back. Although she seemed like a wonderful girl, I was very disappointed. I ended up spending more money getting it fixed than if I had just gone to a more pricier salon in the beginning. read more

Extremely disappointed in my experience at this salon. I scheduled the appointment two weeks out, and specifically asked if they used foil for highlights, and was told yes. I explained that I did not like the results from Saran Wrap highlights, and they assured me they used foils. I arrived today for my appointment with Kim, and since it was my first time there, explained why I left my previous salon that used Saran Wrap. Her response was "well, I use Saran Wrap". I voiced my frustration to her as I had discussed this when I set the appointment. She went to get a manager, and returned with one of the owners who came across very patronizing and told me "I think we are making too big of a deal out of this" like i was a child. When someone takes time out of their busy life to use your services, maybe you should treat them better. I understand that "mistakes happen", however these 2 could have cared less that they sufficiently wasted my time. read more

I visited Salon 37 after reading the positive reviews here on Yelp, and I'm glad I did. I've been going to an expensive, high end salon 40 minutes from my house for YEARS, but it was time to find a more affordable spot closer to home. My appointment was scheduled with Megan, and she did an excellent job. I think I gave her pretty decent instruction, and she did exactly what I asked for. Here are the pros and cons, from my perspective: PROS: Very affordable at $38 for a haircut, blow dry and style. Salon is clean, products are good quality, and Megan took me at the time my appointment was scheduled (not a minute late). She was very friendly and helpful, and offered to curl my hair (which would never have happened at my regular salon). Though I only booked a haircut, Salon 37 offers manicures, pedicures, facials, and other spa services. CONS: My initial impression is that this your mom's salon. I'm in my 30's, but this place gives off an older vibe. A woman at the station next to me even told someone on the phone that she was at "the beauty parlor". My mom would totally say that. The furniture/stations are kind of dated, and look like old entertainment center pieces. The receptionist had foils in her hair when I arrived, which didn't bother me so much, but took me by surprise. I guess ya gotta get it done when you can! Overall, I'm pleased with my cut and experience, and would recommend Salon 37. read more

Kristen is awesome...she's a stylist, but once she did my pedicure as well. Everyone is pretty friendly. Joanna did a great job on a pedicure as well for me. I was kind of annoyed when I asked how much it would be to have my hair styled and was told it depended on what they did. I have a super short bob cut, I didn't want it pulled back, just blow dryed and styled. No different than the styling that happens after a haircut. I just didn't need my hair cut. I had a wedding to go to right after work and didn't have time to go home first. I tried to explain a few different ways what I needed, and that I wasn't asking for an updo, but still they said "it all depends on what the owner decides to charge you." I can understand for an updo...but blow drying my hair...it ended up costing $20 I think...which was fine, but it might help for the front desk staff to know how to evaluate costs and/or explain costs a bit better. Other than that one instance, the salon is great! read more

I currently live in Texas, but I came here while visiting a friend in town. I got a same day appointment with one of the owners, Tiffany. She did a fantastic job of both listening to what I wanted while still using her own judgment to give me a hairstyle that would look great. The salon has been open seven years, but still looks brand new and is clean and classy. I was nervous about my appointment at first because every stylist charges the same price and I generally have had better experiences at salons who charge different prices by skill and experience. However, I have had haircuts that cost over $100, and for $35 Tiffany definitely did a better job and I didn't have anything to complain about. If I'm in town again, I will absolutely consider coming back. read more

I'm so happy that I finally found a new salon! We moved here from the DC area about 6 years ago and I hadn't found a salon I really liked and wanted to stick with until now. I was stuck in such a Mommy rut and was basically wearing a ponytail every day. My neighbor recommended Nora, so I made an appointment. I told her what I was thinking and she completely understood what I wanted. I hate when you go to a salon and they do your hair, you love it, but then you can never replicate the look again. Nora actually styled my hair so that it would be really low maintenance and super easy to style. The atmostphere of the salon is nice, clean and comfortable. So I went in with a picture of what I wanted and asked for very little length off but I wanted to add layers. I believe my stylist's name was Linda and right away she took the photo I had, took a photo of what my hair looked like and told me point blank how much hair would need to chopped off in order to resemble the photo. She didn't lead me thinking or agreed to not cutting anything off, she told me right away what needed to be done. So she washed my hair and got to cutting the exact length she told me in the beginning. She was very easy to talk to and made getting my haircut a very enjoyable experience. I walked away with the haircut I wanted and it's even better than I imagined. She was amazing and I definitely recommend her to anyone! read more

I have been seeing Abbey for years. She always does a fantastic job. Atmosphere of salon is nice, too. After straying to a downtown salon to use a gift card, I was left with very bad results. I originally came in for a mani/pedi because I had a gift card and I loved how comfortable and kind the experience was! I was in the market for a new salon, especially to upkeep my balayage and a lob hairstyle. I went to see Jenny yesterday and my results are EXACTLY what I pictured in my head. After many years of bleaching my hair blonde. I decided it was time to get back to my natural color. The upkeep and wear and tear from the blonde was taking it's toll on my hair. I met with Julie, who was sweet and friendly. Explained what I was looking for and that also "gray coverage" was part of my concern (thr reason I had stayed blonde) She spent time explaining that she would do whatever color I chose, but in her experience, once you've been blonde for so long, it is a better choice to not go as dark as your natural color, so you can ease yourself back into it....it can be a shock. I thought it would be fine, but once I saw myself, I realized she was so right. I hated it. I was embarrassed to say anything and went home. The cut was great, the salon was great ( more upscale, which I like) and very professional.) but my hair, ugghh was just too dark.( Talk about shock !) The next day I called them back. I spoke to Julie, she said come over and we will see what we can do to fix it they way you like. So, I did. There was no attitude from them. Just professionalism. In no time at all Julie had gotten my hair to a nice brown that I could live with and that actually looked good ( was flattering) on me ! It's been nearly a year now, and I have returned back to Julie for my touch ups and even a few highlights. She was right...ease back into your natural color....I now have accomplished that and love it ! read more

About a month ago I got the worst haircut in my entire life. I tried so hard to wait till it grew out, but I could not longer handle wearing hats and clipping it up. It was uneven, had bare spots and was just horrible. I called Salon 37 and asked for the best person they had to attempt to fix this mess. Michelle was able to fix this bad haircut and I ended up walking out of there once again with a smile on my face.The receptionist greeted me with a smile and was extremely welcoming. I love this place. I've been going here for over 3 years. I have straight, fine hair that many stylists just can't cut well. I found two stylist that can do layers well. I want to be selfish and not share their names but I know they would love the recognition: Michele S. and Janet. I've had both Janet and Michele do updo's on my hair. I really liked Janet's updo - it was beautiful and original. I also have three daughters and bring all of them here as well. The shop is excellent at accommodating all three at the same time, and I don't think any of them has had a bad haircut. One has bangs, the other has long layers and a few highlights, and the third is growing out her bangs and hair length. I have had my nails done here but don't continue with that...I think Mario Triccoci's does a better spa experience with pedicures and manicures. read more

I'm from Crystal Lake, but I still make the trip out to Salon 37 every time I need to get my hair done. It's inconvenient, but after trying salons in my area, I just can't trust anyone else. Patti has been doing my hair for 10 years and she is the BEST colorist. I've also had appointments with the owner Julie for my wedding day look and she did a great job. I moved to the area about 7 years ago from the DC area and I cycled through about 4 stylists looking for that right fit. I started going to Tiffany about 4 years ago. I hit gold with her! She is always prompt, very friendly and I get a GREAT cut every time. I've also had Michelle cut my hair and she did a good job, too. The front desk staff - especially Kim - are professional and friendly and accommodating with schedules. I recently started getting pedicures here and love the entire treatment. From the cushy massage chairs to the attentive and detailed nail techs, it is a pleasant experience - and the tubs are thoroughly cleaned after each use (I'm a freak about that type of thing). read more

I'm so happy I was referred to this salon from a friend. A year ago I was looking for a more distinguished salon from the quick drop in places to donate my hair. Kim Price listened to what I wanted and offered her experienced advice as I was undergoing such a drastic change. I left the salon feeling great with the style Kim gave me. She picked up on cowlicks that no other stylist in the past had and cut as well as texturized my hair accordingly. It was probably the best haircut I have ever had.
