O dear god dont go here. I had highlights and i wanted to go back to my natural color which was very visible because my roots were grown in like 5 inches. my natural color is a light cool golden brown. well, I had a gift card for 150.00 so I thought I would get it professionally dyed. What a waste!! It took 3 hours to do an overall color, thats all i had done. 3 hours?!?! and what did my hair look like after it was done-JET BLACK. i asked for light golden brown and got jet black hair. this girl didnt know anything obviously...please dont waste your money. I even went back and told her it was way too dark and she told me that was my natural color-o okay, you, a stranger, know my natural hair color better than me? sure... So i fixed my ugly raven hair myself. Go to Salon Lorenne in Palatine-they know what there doing. This place is a rip off and none of the people know what there doing. read more

I grew up going to Aveda salons and this one is wonderful! The atmosphere is relaxing, the attention to detail is impressive and Aveda products always smell great. I have had both salon and spa services. I personally enjoy the spa more than the salon just because it's a calmer atmosphere- massages and facials are done in a separate area that's dimly lit and typically include a steam shower after your services. The salon is a typical salon, however, you can get a hand massage while getting your hair washed and a head massage before getting your hair washed. read more

HORRIBLE service! I went in for my first visit. I didn't request anyone in particular, just who ever had availability. I needed a hair cut and my roots done. The stylist started by putting some peppermint oil under my nose and asked me if it was relaxing. Mint smells make me nauseated, and I immediately pushed her hand away. I wish she would have asked before she came up from behind and put the bottle under my nose. After she applied the hair dye on my roots, she sat me in a chair at the back of the shop. I noticed the same stylist with another customer in her chair just a few mins later. After 45 mins, I looked up and saw my stylist was no where close to finishing up. I buried myself in another magazine, and realized another 20 mins had gone by. I got up and approached my stylist and said I had been waiting for over an hour. She said she would be right with me. After 10 more minutes, I went up to the front desk to complain to manager. Manager checked in with stylist, and said it would be another 10 mins. I asked to use the bathroom, and rinsed the colour out myself, then walked out of the salon with wet hair and no haircut. read more

I went today for a Women's Cut. I chose to go with a New Talent. I had Emilie do my haircut today. I received excellent service from not only Emilie but all of the staff there. They start with a relaxing scalp and shoulder massage. During my shampoo and condition, she let the conditioner sit while she gave me a hand massage. The cut was amazing as well. I left feeling refreshed and beautiful! I highly recommend Spa Bleu and I highly recommend going to Emilie!! read more

I have been going to Spa Blue for almost 2 1/2 years which is when I first moved to Illinois. The recent remodel (while the old version was by no means bad) is completely gorgeous and serene. This is a top notch salon that caters to every client from the moment you walk in. Every time you enter by the attentive front staff and are checked in they offer hot tea coffee or water and a warm moist hand towel often infused with one of their calming scents while you wait. Then they go one to inquire if you want a relaxing head and neck massage prior to your hair services, a hand and arm massage during your hair service and then a finishing touch of makeup afterward, ALL complimentary. I've never been to a salon back east that provides that much pampering!. The services I receive are hair and more recently their facials. My stylist Katrina is so good that she is one of Spa Bleu's stylist that actually does the hair for the model's during New York City and LA's fashion week- and if that doesn't speak volumes as to how good she is I don't know what does. The compliments I receive when she does my highlights and cuts just proves she knows her stuff and keeps up with the latest advances in hair and of course Aveda products. She and the products are worth every penny. I started at the end of last year getting facials by Megan. Their new spa area is peaceful and even includes a shower if you have things to do after getting a massage/facial. Everyone is given a locker with a robe and slippers and their changing rooms and bathrooms are stocked with numerous products for hair face and body. I have gotten facials done at other locations and thats about all you receive- treatments to your face and usually a hand massage and maybe shoulder massage. Well at Spa Bleu you get so much more. Upon changing and entering the room, they have a foot soak waiting for you, and while your feet get a refreshing bath you go over your needs and concerns and plan your actual facial. Once the facial begins I wasn't expecting anything else besides the hand massage but they actually (with gloves on of course) proceed to give you a foot and calf massage. I was completely blown away, its like you get a full service facial and mini massage as well. Megan is fantastic and attentive and provides an all around great service with a price you can't beat for what is provided. 5 star service every time! read more

My husband and I recently moved to the area about 2 months ago, and I have been looking for a good reputable salon. So one day my husband surprised me with a gift card to the Spa Bleu for whatever service I wanted to get. He saw great reviews for this place, so he decided I should try it out. I called on a Saturday, and despite the holidays approaching, they were able to get me in that same day. As I got there, they offered me a beverage, and a hot towel for my hands. After I was called back, Katie, my hair stylists sat me down to go over what I wanted to do with my hair. Afterwards, she gave me a wonderful head/scalp massage. It felt great. Then as I was getting my hair shampooed, I received an awesome hand/arm massage. It felt so good! Katie was great! We had fun conversation, and I felt well taken care of. After my appt ended, I went to check out. The girl at the checkout desk advised me of hair products Katie recommended for my hair. It was nice because I didn't feel "forced" to buy them, like some places do. I ended up joining the Aveda club with a waived membership fee, and I bought 2 bottles of shampoo/conditioner, because I loved the way it made my hair feel and smell. Katie also gave me a $20 off coupon to use for any spa treatment, or hair/nail treatment. It's nice because I can use this card once on any service I book. I had an overall wonderful experience at this spa. Everyone was so nice, and I really felt relaxed! I have an appt for a facial on Monday, and I'm definitely looking forward to going back! read more

Ok, thought I reviewed the glorious Spa Bleu before but apparently not. I had driven by this place a ton but never looked into it. Then I got a SpaFinder Gift Card and it was the perfect excuse to do so. No Regrets. ;-) This is an Aveda salon and the spa is heaven. It's not like going to Mario Tricoci where, when you get a massage (all of which for me have been AWFUL) you are in a room also used for waxing and facials and the vibe is just....clinical. The spa is a separate area with private dressing rooms that have a private bathroom and private steam room too. They also have all the Aveda products out for you to use-- from shampoo to facial cleanser to hair spray- you name it. Smart move. ;-) I use Laura for my massage and she's amazing. They have a ton of services I haven't even begun to explore yet but overall I am very very pleased. The massage experience is wonderful, relaxing- they don't talk to you the whole time or try to push product on you unless YOU express interest in it. Have you ever been to a spa where the massage therapist TALKS THE WHOLE TIME?? how do you relax? That's the worst. Check out Spa Bleu because it is amazing. Seriously. Spa bleu is nirvana. No hard selling of product following services but they do offer suggestions which is good. The Aveda products are so pure and gentile for your hair and body. I love the candles although a bit on the pricey side they last quite long and don't burn down the center and the soy candle wax is great for your hands. I've had manicures and pedis at Spa Bleu and you can trust that the girls do a great job and most of all it's very clean and tranquil. I love the remodeling job that was done. Beautiful colors and such a peaceful but classy atmosphere. The attitude of the staff is always professional and soft spoken. It's my treat to me when I can visit Spa Bleu and I think all women should take the time to visit Spa Bleu and experience it for yourself. Facials are divine and its hard not to fall asleep. Do not see Sabrina if you like your hair. My friend went to see her a few weeks ago as a first time client. She HAD beautiful long, one length , hi lighted hair. The cut was ok , but Sabrina ( who is supposed to be a hair professional & told her she was also a colorist ) sprayed ALCOHOL BASED & OTHER PRODUCTS (volumizer & other items ) all over her hair & damaged it ! Then when she was leaving , Sabrina's only concern was to try to hard sell her on those hair damaging products. My friend is heartbroken. She is spending all kinds of money using extreme conditioners to try & salvage what has happened , but it's caused a great deal of dryness & breakage. You would think a hair "professional" would know better than this. read more

Spa Bleu's wedding prep duo of Kariann on hair and Trisha on make-up is as good as it gets! Made an appointment for the day of my wedding with no prior hair or make-up trial. I brought in a few hair pictures for inspiration, and Kariann's creation (complete with flowers) far exceeded them all! I wanted make-up that looked really natural but would still show up in pictures, and that's exactly what I got from Trisha. I had a facial with Megan yesterday and it was my third with her and it was terrific as usual. I has some breakouts on my face (yes at my mature age) so she did something different and she did a special mask with some steam and today they seem to be minimal....yeah! I like that we discuss what is working for me and what isn't. What is going on in my life. The changing of the season's etc. I bought the mask at her suggestion so I can take care of these breakouts in between facials. Which was almost free because I has so many points saved up from the year of coming in. I have been going to Spa Bleu for 2 1/2 years now. The front desk ladies are extremely friendly right when you walk in the door. You're greeted with a hot towel and an offer of coffee, tea or water. I have my hair done by Sabrina who is the BEST at her craft and really listens to me. I am a bit older and even though she is very young, she makes me look great, shows me styling tips and suggests products so I can do this same look at home. And I always enjoy the hand/arm massage while my hair is processing. Speaking of processing, even if I just think of it when I get there, I can usually schedule a chair massage, waxing or mini-mani or pedi while my hair is processing. Talk about getting the most value from your time spent there! And if you want a mani or pedi that is FLAWLESS, see Tamika for that. She doesn't even flinch when I come in with my nails ripped to shreds and the color peeled off, she very nicely says she'll make them look much better. She pays very close attention to detail and my nails are always beautiful & I receive lots of compliments on them. I have tried colors I never thought I would like but Tamika takes the time to show me how 4-5 colors look on my own nails (or hers!) so I can see the true color instead of just how the color looks in the bottle. I love spending an hour with her just chatting about life - she is a fabulous asset to the company - and so is Sabrina for that matter! Both young women are amazing at their work. Now for massages . . . I always get the 90 minute massage because I totally love the experience & want it to last as long as possible! I have had Jacqueline, Laura and Heidi - depending on who is available when I want to get it scheduled. All three are just amazing - they all have that special "touch" a massage therapist has to have. I just have to mention Megan, too, who is so fantastic for waxing and facials - plus she's a joy to spend time with. The massage begins with a foot bath and consultation to discuss aches & pains and if there is an especially troublesome area you need the kinks worked out of. Then comes the aromatherapy selection and that scent is used several times during the course of your treatment. The massage ends with a gentle application of the Aveda eye cream and although I'm happy to get that, I hate that the massage is now over! I would do a 2 hour massage if it were offered! The products used on the services are left on the front counter should you want to purchase them - you don't have to do any searching for them in the beautiful product display area - and I have never felt pressured to buy anything! I did join the Aveda points club that is offered and I have received $375 back in coupons to be redeemed at Spa Bleu for services. I finally found a rewards program that I can figure out how to actually get something for! The new renovation work is outstanding. No expense seems to be spared to make sure that you are comfortable, relaxed and enjoying your service. Due to all the services I go there for, I sometimes am there three times a week and I love every minute of it. I also like that after every visit I am emailed a chance to review the service I just had. Once I mentioned that I was disappointed that the new steam shower door was not yet installed (it is now!) and I received a percentage off my next massage! Not only are the employees great but the fact that the owner really cares about your opinions and wants you to find Spa Bleu the best, means a great deal about the whole organization. The fact that I spend so much time there and I have not yet heard one employee grumble about their job, means they're doing something right with their employees!
