I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience was extremely disappointing. I attempted to use a gift card that had been purchased for me in 2023. The card did not have an expiration date printed on it, but I was told it had expired. Instead of honoring the gift card, the business charged my credit card that was on file and kept my gift card, telling me it needed to be shown to the manager. I was assured a manager would call me the following day. No one called. Over the next several days, I made multiple phone calls and was repeatedly told someone would get back to me. Again, no one did. When I went back to the business simply to retrieve my gift card, I was told they didn't have it. The conversation then escalated to the point where my husband and I were told to leave or the police would be called. I reached out to the owner directly by email and never received a response. I have since filed a complaint with the Missouri Attorney General because I was unable to resolve the matter with the business. Everyone can make a mistake, but what disappointed me most was the complete lack of communication and customer service. Had someone simply returned my calls and worked with me to resolve the issue, this review probably wouldn't exist. Edit after receiving your response calling me a liar: I messaged you again with my phone number, my husband's phone number, and my email address. We still have received no phone call, email, or any messages. There is a law in Missouri that gift cards do not expire. Your associate told me you were out of town when we called and came in, and that we were not a priority. Terrible quality I only came here because I had a gift card. Reservation for Gel pedi and medi....quality of nail care poor! Did not cut my cuticle- ran the cuticle trimmer across my nail bed but NEVER my cuticle. I felt like I was in the Coming to America movie where Eddie Murphy doesn't actually cut the customers hair. My nail tech said she had been at this salon for 10 years, huh?!? So weird. The gel polish literally peeled off once I got my home because she painted my nail and skin. Robbing people. I have been here twice so far. The first time was to get my eyebrow microblade and the second was to get my eyebrows tint. I have my eyebrow microblade four times so far. The last time I had this done prior to coming here was about 1 year ago at a different spa that was now owned by the same owner as this spa. However the person that did my eyebrows to my liking no longer works there and I do not know where she works at so I gave this place a try. The person that did my microblade and eyebrow tinting here is the same person. I wish my microblade would retain more pigment and slightly bigger in size like the previous microblade that I had since I specifically asked for the same size and shape as I had. As for the tinting, I am not sure if it is just me but it only last two days on me when I was told should last around two weeks. She was nice and on time. read more

I used to absolutely love this spa/salon. Since they opened a million locations the quality has plummeted. For my most recent (laser cleanup) appointment, I had a horrible experience... I received FIVE phone calls over the course of weeks leading up to my appt asking me to reschedule. And I'm not talking 5 calls because they couldn't reach me! Nope. I called back each and every time to acquiesce to their ever-increasing demands- up until the last call, which came a day before my (rescheduled, rescheduled, rescheduled) appt. I couldn't return that one in time. My mind was truly boggled at how --even after I expressed consternation that any business could be run this poorly and treat customers this badly -- the calls just kept coming. How hard is it to offer someone an appt time and stick to it? SUCH a disappointing experience. And I'd been coming to Face & Body for over 15 years. I called to squeeze in an appointment and the front desk team was lovely in helping decide which options and treatments might make sense for me. Unfortunately when I got to the consultation with the esthetician she immediately didn't seem interested in the services I was hoping to do nor did she suggest what she thought would be better or alternative options for the appointment which started the session off on a concerning note. As we got started she didn't check my skin to give her reading on my current skin health and what services or treatment would be best. We continued with the collagen facial (because I'd asked multiple times for it) but once she completed the dermaplaning (extra service I requested) she ran through the "facial" very fast. She didn't use enough product at any point, when I asked for extractions she told me I just have large pores and that she recommend these products but I didn't actually need extractions (which was inaccurate) and then she finished the service after the gelly mask was complete. Even the finishing serums and products she used at the end wasn't enough to cover, let alone hydrate or coat my face post "treatment." I paid $275 for a glorified dermaplane and gelly mask. I gave feedback for the front desk team and the manager called which I appreciated their taking time and consideration but unfortunately the experience was such a let down that I will not be returning and shared with my sisters/friends not to waste their time or money there anymore. read more

If you're looking for effective laser hair removal, don't go here! After over 10+ laser hair removal sessions over more than a year, I still have a ton of hair. I'm the ideal candidate with light skin and coarse, dark hair, and I followed all the instructions on how to get the best results. They use cheap, ineffective machines. I wasted over a year doing this and well over 1k. I went somewhere else for my first two sessions and saw immediate results, but it was way more expensive. So, I found this place. Every time I'd say I'm wasn't getting results, they'd say it can take up to 10 sessions and they'd adjust whatever they were doing. I used at least 4 different techs here, and they all used the same technique. The previous place I went to had a nurse providing the service and doing it with a more thorough process, like what you see in advertisements. I asked them for a summary of all my sessions with the costs. They said they couldn't figure out how to do it and grabbed a manager. I tried asking her, but she wouldn't even acknowledge me. They said the manager would look into it, and they'd call me back. They never called. Avoid their laser services at all costs. It's cheap for a reason! However, the staff - minus the female manager I tried to talk to - are great. I've only left several one star reviews and rarely include any negative content, but I'm trying to save someone their time and money. read more

I have been getting massages at The Face & The Body for years. Every massage I have had there has been perfect. I have had three different massage therapists and they were all amazing. From being able to easily make an appointment over the phone or in person to the fruit infused water (delicious) to the massage itself, I always have a great experience. I would recommend paying the extra money to go to Ken Howard, who is the best massage therapist I have ever had in my life. As a registered nurse, I have had my share of back pain and many massage therapists to go with it. Once I found Ken, I never had to look elsewhere again. He does an exceptional job every single time. I was really looking forward to my spa services here. It is a lovely building and the inside is great. However, Groupon buyers beware! I bought the two 60 minute services Groupon and scheduled my services on the same day. I showed up for my 1:00pm massage first. The masseuse grabbed me a couple minutes late and when I looked at the clock when he came in to start, it was 1:10pm. My massage ended at 2:00pm on the dot. Therefore, I was shorted ten minutes. I was shocked it was cut that short when I hadn't had a scalp massage and he probably spent one minute total on each arm. I didn't say anything though because I just wanted to continue my relaxed day. My facial didn't start until 3:00pm so I just waited in the area until my lady came out and got me. This was my first facial and I was anxious/excited. I felt so uncomfortable during my facial. My face has a natural redness to it (my mother has rosacea so I think I have a mild form). I'm very self-conscious about it. The person performing my facial made me feel so bad about it, the products I use (a custom made Curology treatment), and why my Curology Dermatologist recommended certain things. She pushed a product on me and I just bought it because I didn't want to be in there anymore. SO THEN... I get to the front to check out and the lady working asks for my Groupon. I pull it out and she's like "Okay, and then there was an upcharge for the services". I was confused. I asked what she meant because even the girl who did my facial said I just got the basic. The lady at the front then said "Oh, did they not tell you when you booked your appointment? There's an upcharge because these workers were higher-leveled workers". They absolutely did not tell me that and I said "you can't just charge people and not tell them". She just went on to apologize and blamed it on the girl who booked my appointment being new. This is when I complained about the length of my massage. I even told her how I wasn't going to complain until I was told this was a higher-level service. She did take this upcharge off but only after this complaint. I still had to pay the facial upcharge. I'm actually super bummed. I've been wanting to find a spa in STL that is affordable and that I really enjoy going to. Unfortunately, this one won't be that for me. read more

I work at WashU and I used to like this salon/spa. I purchased a Groupon for a service here and made a reservation the next day. You can CLEARLY see on the photo attached that it has the copy "Revitalize your look with professional stylists offering vibrant color including highlights and balayage." I was told the Groupon did not include these services when I called. After explaining the copy to the receptionist, they said they would honor it. Tonight, they called (the day before the appointment) and said they changed their minds and were not honoring it. It is now past the window to return the Groupon and they will collect the $ on it. I am blown away that although they clearly had this in print- they are turning it away. I wonder how many other people had the same bait and switch experience for over $70. Okay, so I got the wife a gift certificate for a 60 minute massage. She made her appt 3 weeks out and requested a female masseuse. Upon arrival they checked her in and she went back to the waiting room. 1st - a male masseuse came out and said he was assigned to her. She could have stopped right there and rescheduled again, but who knows how long that was going to be. 2nd- Said masseuse had a cold and kept coughing, sniffling and yawning. Disgusting. He should not have been at work. 3rd - He never even touched my feet . 4th - The total time as 47 minutes not 60. 5th - I called a few days later and discussed this with a "Lead" who said she would pass this onto management who would call me on 1/2/24. No call rec'd. We have been using F&B over the years, but we can no longer recommend them. As evidenced by their declining star rating, they are more concerned about making money than making clients happy. read more

This was the worst experience ever. Highly racist staff. My appointment was made via phone. I came in & the tech didn't want to allow me to go to the rest room, then after she starts to tell me because my skin as been exposed to sun they can not treat me. She explains that until I no longer have sun exposer they can not treat me. I asked what they consider as exposure she advised if you are in the sun longer than 20-30 min. I explained that I am not even in the Sun for that amount of time. I am African American so naturally Im a darker complexion. I asked why wasn't I provided this information before I came. She said oh we can't treat you without a consultation. Then she said you're welcomed to go somewhere else and see if they will do it... And she even hurried to explain how to get a refund from Groupon and quickly walked me out the door. In my 46 years I have never experienced racism to this degree..... I couldn't reply back to the "owner" but I have attached her reply. 1) I wasn't advised of a consultation 2) I'm not African I'm American 3) I was told when my skin was no longer tan I could be treated. 4) Black people get laser treatment all the time and don't burn. 5) I have received 5 laser treatments on my back for a large tattoo and NO issues. I have been a customer of Face and Body since they were located in Clayton. Thru the years and had a lot of services done there, but in the last few years I stay for the super nice, very professional woman I have been dealing with since Clayton. Today, I went in for 3 services, which when I booked I said it would take 1 1/2 hours. I was confirmed weeks ago, went over what I had booked and we both agreed it was for 1 1/2 hours. When I got in the room, I was told I was only on the schedule for the 2 services that would have taken 15 minutes each. I left the room to talk to a manager who just wanted to rebook me. She said she would pass along my complaint to the higher ups. I do not know if I will ever go back. With the new ownership a few years ago, this company has gone significantly downhill...and nobody seems to really care. So, please be cautious when booking your appointments. The front desk has such turnover that nobody ever learns their job. This has been an issue long before the turnover. Such a shame for what was once the nicest spa in town. This is in responce to Jennah's answer to me, I am apparently blocked from making any other comments or responding to her comments to me: Jennah, Your PR skills are not the best as an owner of a business. I hate the line that the customer is always right, because they are not, BUT, you don't start your response with "you could not be more wrong". I've gone to that spa since one of their associates asked me to follow her from the green door. It's about an hour and a half from my house. I have been there 5 times and three of the appointments have been messed up. Once I had to just leave and drive back home. So today, I went to have dermaplaning done. Same person as always. (Tamrah) and although she has been pleasant in the past, she was rude and like yelling at me because something got messed up on my last visit. She was actually criticizing me over the bill from months ago. I barely recall it, but apparently, she was mad because she added something to the bill that I hadn't asked for. I never noticed it but, at check out, when they asked me what I had done, I only told them the services that I booked, not whatever else she said she did. So they changed her ticket and only charged me what I originally requested. I never saw the ticket, I was never told about the extra stuff or cost that was ion the original ticket and never gave it another thought. Today i hard a facial as a gift with Kayla and she was so great i May be hooked on regular facials . The front staff is always welcoming even when they look super busy. I began going to The Face & The Body (on Brentwood) a few years ago when a friend gave me a gift certificate. I've been a loyal customer ever since. The typical service I request is the Spa Pedicure (includes a paraffin dunk and foot and leg massage). I also sometimes get the Spa Manicure (also with paraffin and massage). My two favorite people there are Nebra and Heather. They are both very professional, and good at their jobs but also wonderful people. If you want to chat, they're ready. I went to the spa for their Signature Spa Facial. When I made the appointment, it said that the facial would last an hour and 15 minutes. The cost is $125.00. I was at the spa just over an hour from the time that I checked in to the time that I left! The facial did NOT last 75 minutes! Additionally, there was no neck or décolletage massage performed as I have had in the past. There was complete silence in the room while the mask was on my face. The therapist was pleasant enough, but I feel like she just wanted to get me done because I was the last client in the spa. The experience was definitely not worth the price. How does it feel to be completely overcharged for a so-so haircut? Let me tell ya... pretty darn crappy. I was desperate to find a salon open on a Sunday, and Face & Body was very accommodating when I called them the day before. They took down my credit card and told me they'd charge me full price if I didn't show up which wasn't too endearing, but I didn't plan on not showing up anyway, so I didn't care. When I got there, I realized that this location is NOT as nice as the others. It actually seemed a little musty and run down a little. The front desk staff was okay, pretty brief, and I only had to wait a few minutes before my stylist came to get me. She didn't really speak that much, but I told her what I wanted done and we both agreed it was better to cut my hair dry. I had just washed it and she said it'd be easier for her to see what she was doing. I asked her to only cut off a centimeter and no more on all of my layers, because I'm growing my hair out for a while. Ten minutes later, my hair was over an inch and a half shorter than it was before, and I didn't like how my top layer of hair was laying at all. She shaped that up a little and the haircut was over, so she took me to the front counter. $75?????!!!!!! For what just happened?! You have got to be kidding me?! Ohhh my God. I have never felt so much pain for my wallet in my life. I know I should've checked prices before, that's my fault. But that was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I've been a regular here for a couple years, but only for certain types of services. Dislikes: - I do not recommend getting a hair cut here. It is pretty expensive and not worth it. I feel like they just up the prices to try and position themselves as an upscale spa/salon. - The front desk is not that friendly.
