Every time I come, I can feel the professionalism and attentiveness of the staff. From seating to ordering, and then to the care during the meal, everything is done with great finesse, making me feel comfortable and at ease. The unique politeness and meticulousness of Japanese service are naturally reflected here. The food is also a reason I want to come back. Whether it's the freshness of the ingredients, the presentation, or the taste, you can feel the attention to detail. Japanese cuisine emphasizes the quality of the ingredients themselves, and Miku presents this refinement beautifully. Every dish is pleasing to the eye and has a layered flavor. I also love the ambiance. The overall design is simple, elegant, and has a very comfortable Japanese aesthetic. The lighting, seating, and spatial layout all create a relaxing atmosphere without feeling overly decorated; instead, they have a high-quality feel. As for the atmosphere, I think it's what makes this place so special. Elegant and quiet, yet not too formal, it's suitable for dates or enjoying a good meal with friends. Sitting there slowly eating and chatting makes the whole dining experience particularly comfortable. After several visits, I still feel that Miku is a restaurant worth returning to again and again. It's not just because of any one dish, but because the service, cuisine, environment, and atmosphere combine to create a very pleasant experience every time I come.

The udon in both the curry and rose cream udon was very soft and tender as well, tender than what I usually have for udon. If you like your noodles al dante I don't think it'll quite fit your taste but I personally really enjoyed it! As for the taste the spicy rose cream udon tasted exactly like Buldak Ramen's Carbonara flavor, and everyone at my table agreed. The garlic bread was nice tho. To be completely honest staff and workers aren't very attentive, the restaurant wasn't full and I could see the workers standing around. Our table had to ask for water multiple times. I made reservations about 4 months in advance. Upon arrival, one of the hostesses opened the door for us, and asked us to wait in a very ornate waiting area. We only waited a couple of minutes before another hostess seated us at the main seating area. The space is very dark, and only lit with candles while the rest of the diners trickled in. During that time they take drink orders, which is limited to sake, wine, beer and a few non-alcoholic drinks. Of note, they don't provide a drink menu, so we were a little surprised by the cost - the yuzu sake and the plum wine were $30 each. My non-alcoholic drink was $12, but a fair size. The theatrical portion started a few minutes later than the official start time - closer to 6pm. The shades lifted, the lights turned on, and the chefs introduced themselves. And from that moment on, they immediately went to work preparing our meal. They operate like clockwork to show the ingredients whole to the diners, and then preparing them, and serving them. Soon as the one dish was completed by all the diners, the next round came shortly after. Over 20+ dishes, there was very little wait time in between each. Each time a dish was served, a hostess was there to describe the dish and provided tips on how best to eat it. The food was overall was very good. I thought a few items were very average, most of them were very good, and a select few were truly outstanding. Most of the ingredients are imported from Japan, so I would imagine that it's part of the reason it's so expensive. This is definitely a splurge meal. I think half the diners at our sitting was celebrating a birthday. On the most part, the food is very good, watching the chefs at work is part of the entertainment, and the service is excellent. The food is fabulous. The service is hit and miss and there is a hint of elitism (different to the sense of pride) about the staff. I've been here a couple of times - the last time the waitress was friendly, attentive and bubbly, even with a full restaurant. This time the waitress (a different one) was surley, definitely not attentive, and boarderline rude - giving off an attitude that we were the last people she wanted to serve. The menu has a good variety and my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals - I personally would recommend the pulled pork benedict. The food and drinks come out surprisingly quickly given the demand for the place. Had it not been for the shitty waitress who certainly didn't deserve any tip, this review would have been a bit better. read more

Food was delicious, Service was not. Decor is great, though perhaps the tables could be a little bit more spread out. Chick pea fritters fantastic, I could eat just those and be oh so happy. Potato crusted chicken was tasty and fresh. Gnocchi was also great. Server wasn't great, but we'd go back based on the food. We had decided on appetizers but not entrees. She decided to wait and put the order in all at once. Not sure why that was necessary. When asked about juice, she said: "we have orange juice?". So I replied with, what other kinds of juice do you have? Apparently just orange juice, which is fine, but please speak with some confidence. Overall a good experience, slightly wrecked by the server. I'd go back again. read more

Went for a birthday dinner and it was beyond terrible. We loved this place for years, but the food quality, preparation and service have all gone down hill. We both ordered steak at medium rare, which came out 'rare' and also cold, and covered in soy sauce. It was accompanied with a pitiful display of cauliflower on the side for $42. Incredibly overpriced, and the quality was laughable - we couldn't believe how truly terrible it was. The food service, by what appeared to be the night manager, was just as poor as the food quality. There was zero Interaction, dazed look on their face, and we had to ASK for our food and drinks twice as they were seemingly unaware of our presence. Avoid at all costs going forward. read more

I've been meaning to go to Fable since it opened, and now that I've been I keep kicking myself for waiting this long! We had an absolutely outstanding evening - from the service, to the atmosphere to the food. Our server, a lady with short blonde hair, knew her stuff inside & out, and gave some recommendations that were perfect. I am obsessed with the parmesan crusted chicken, and plan to return for it asap! The only thing that struck me as being off was their wine list - the price points by the bottle were all so high! I think they started at $64 ish and skyrocketed from there - would love to see some more value-conscious wines, but til then will stick to your delicious beer list! read more

Finally tried this restaurant after always passing by. A friend suggested brunch, so here I am! Booking a table online was super convenient--I hate waiting in long lines. The service was great, and the ambiance is perfect for family or friend gatherings. The venue is a comfortable size, with reasonable distances between tables, allowing us to chat without eavesdropping. The menu offered various options; we tried a few dishes. The menu was perfectly crafted for four, and there were several appetizers, entrees, and desserts - and of course some adult beverages, who could forget the wine! Making a reservation is a MUST here, as even at 8:00pm, the restaurant was a full house. Our servers were both very attentive and friendly, deeply knowledgeable, too, about the menu. The chefs were amazing at preparing each of the dishes, and the thought put into each individual ingredient really could be tasted and seen. The plating was immaculate, and the journey was bountiful - the tongue was stretched from sour to sweet to salty and savory. The course began with a few salads with crisp vegetables. I was most impressed with the preparation of foods that I dislike, specifically the uni pate, pork, and chocolate. These, even, were tolerable. Some of my favorites were the red wines (Pinot, Bordeaux) which were paired well with the entire course. Others include the trout, squid ink brioche, and option to upgrade with scallops and truffle. The best, though, had to be the immense word play on the entire menu. Of course, since we don't taste with our eyes, the ambiance is fairly cozy and dimly lit. The photos won't be the best, but you best bet the tastes will be worth returning for... I know I will!

The restaurant is located in the heart of the Downtown Eastside and gives a rustic, cozy vibe. We sat at the bar and enjoyed catching up while observing the incredibly skilled bartender. For drinks, we both chose the peach aperol spritz. This was a generic choice, which may not have been a good representation of what the drink menu has to offer. We selected the tasting menu to get as much variety as possible. There was a pop-up collaboration with Say Mercy!, so the menu was shared between the two restaurants. The theme seemed to be Southern-style food with a twist. We started pleasantly with the hush puppies and blackened tuna. These were good, but did not compare to the star of the night - shrimp and grits. My friend has travelled to the south frequently and shared that this may be one of the best shrimp & grits she has ever had. The flavours were spectacular, and the textures between the shrimp, squid, and grits were especially enjoyable. I would easily come back just to have this dish alone. Next, the BBQ bolo was a fun twist between southern BBQ flavours and bolognese. The dinner rolls that accompanied it were buttery and divine. At this point, we were already getting full, so we had to pack half the bolo up to save room for the short rib. The short rib was a bit on the saltier side for me, but the kitchen was wise in adding various pickled vegetables and other elements to cut the salt and fattiness of the meat. Finally, dessert ended the meal on an amazing note. The buttermilk and cornmeal filling, rhubarb puree and cornflake crumble were such beautiful notes singing in my mouth. I never thought vanilla ice cream could taste good with olive oil on top, but it all came together like a perfect symphony. The tasting menu was $170 for two people, which, although it seems hefty, felt worth it as per the amazing dining experience we had. This was a really fun and delicious dining experience. I would love to return and try other menus and drinks.

They also have a zero waste concept where most of their left over ingredients get created into drinks! They also have a seasonal rotating menu. The food was genuinely all rather tasty and to the standard. It was pricy for the portion, but it's what you'd expect for a fancier restaurant like this. I'd say their dishes are actually bigger than other restaurants of the same calibre. My absolute favourite was the duck fried rice!! The perfect mix of duck and rice portions! Our waiter was lovely as well. It was overall an excellent experience and would come back!!

Step outside, though, and the street can feel a bit rough around the edges. From my visit, the double duck pizette was the highlight. It came out hot with crisp edges, layered with rich duck flavor and bright pops from jalapeños that cut through the fattiness nicely. That said, it leaned a touch salty by the last few bites. The charcuterie board was well composed and generous for a happy hour order: thin slices of prosciutto and coppa, two cheeses, olives, and toasted bread. It came with what tasted like an eggplant spread, a punchy beer mustard, and a slightly sweet jam (possibly strawberry with basil). Service was excellent throughout!

Coming to Annalema always feels like coming home. Right now the torn bread dish is with an Argentinian prawn stuffed with scallop mousse in a sea of vin Blanc and dilll happiness. Honestly, I think it's better than some of the one-star Michelin restaurants I've been to in California. From the moment we walked in, the hostess greeted us right away and offered to take our bags and store them in the coat closet, which I appreciated as a tourist. The restaurant feels upscale and intimate without being overly formal or stuffy. Like many Michelin-starred restaurants, AnnaLena only offers a tasting menu. I really enjoyed the menu because I felt genuinely full by the end, and there was a good balance of proteins and carbs. Everything was also cooked really well .Our cocktails were also really good! My favorite dish was the cheeseburger 2050. I still think about the bread they used for their version of the cheeseburger. It was roughly torn in half and perfectly toasted, just slightly crispy on the outside but still so fluffy on the inside. I know the menu rotates, so while they no longer have the cheeseburger 2050 on their menu, I'm glad to see the bread continues to make an appearance on the tasting menu. My only complaint is the price. I'm sad to see that it's gone up since the last time I visited. Still worth it to try at least once!

The Food The freshly baked bannock is the undisputed star of the table, served warm with a light, golden crust on the outside and an impossibly pillowy, steamy interior that's perfect with butter. For mains, the pan-seared wild salmon served over wild rice was flavorful and fresh, letting the clean Pacific taste lead the dish. Because wild catch is naturally lean, the thinner tail end was slightly on the drier side, but the citrus and herb seasoning balanced it out nicely. The bison pot roast was deeply comforting, braised until spoon-tender alongside carrots and pan jus, while the wild berry dessert offered a tart, refreshing finish. The Service Warm, engaging, and genuinely hospitable. The staff take real pride in explaining the heritage behind the dishes and where the game and seafood are sourced. Because it's a tight, focused team cooking everything to order, the pacing between appetizers and mains was a little on the slower, relaxed side, but the friendliness and care made you feel like a welcomed guest. The Ambiance Intimate, soulful, and gallery-like. The vibrant red walls are lined with authentic First Nations artwork, carved paddles, and painted drums, giving the room a cozy, story-rich character. Space is definitely on the smaller side with only a handful of tables, so it can feel a bit snug when the dining room is full, making advance reservations a must.
