Great experience at this office. Optometrist was very detailed in explaining his findings & my…read moreoptions for glasses . Did not try to upsell me but gave me suggestions for my needs . Very professional along with the nice lady in the front office area . Had my prescription glasses ready in a few days !

In any type of retail, especially if medically related like your eyesight/vision, customers should be provided all options for any type of lenses and the beauty of being the one paying is that THEY get to decide what to buy and how much they want to spend. That ability was taken away from me here. My prescription is very very minimal. I've had corrective eye surgeries so I don't need much at all. I picked out a pair of frames that I liked and told the person to go ahead and place my order. I had to come back in to get measured and she said they'll call me when the glasses area ready. I didn't realize until pickup that somehow, for this very simple and very minimal prescription that the glasses were $300-$400!! Say, what??? I was like ok... I paid it and I said I'm going to be checking with my insurance because this isn't right. There's no way for what I was getting it should cost me that much. I also asked for a more detail receipt, not just an amount, but give details on what exactly I was charged. Well, what I found out in the emailed detailed documentation that the person who works there who took my order decided for herself that I was going to buy the MOST expensive lenses possible. I am very upset she did that and never ASKED me what I, the person paying, wanted to buy. She never gave me any options. She never explained anything. I mean, that's your job is to lay out and describe to me what my purchase options are. She just went ahead and ordered the most expensive thing on my behalf. I didn't think of it during the purchase process (why isn't she showing & explaining lens options...) because that part is their job #1 and #2, I haven't purchased glasses in a really really long time due to my corrective eye surgeries. I didn't even think of what she was *not* doing correctly. So, I called and has this discussion and I needed some of this money back. No way am I paying almost $400 for glasses that barely have any prescription to them, thus I will barely even need/use. I liked the frames so I wanted to keep them and she offered getting the lenses remade. And I'm feeling like, I don't know that I want to do business with them again. So that wasn't my preference given what just happened, how nothing was explained and I was just charged without my consent. Next I said what if I just return the lenses and she said she would refund me. So, that's what I ended up doing. To me it's really ridiculous that she couldn't refund me the difference for the less expensive lenses and allow me to keep the lenses already manufactured and in the frame. -- THAT would have been the ideal response. -- THAT would have saved losing me as a customer for life. So, now we are just going to fully waste the most expensive, perfectly good lenses, sized only for my frames, and with my own prescription for absolutely nothing? Great. How stupid. She is the one who grossly messed up and she should have allowed me to keep those lenses for her mistake instead of being so wasteful. I'm out.

Absolutely brilliant experience from the moment I scheduled until the moment I walked out of there!…read moreThey were very communicative before my appointment, the man who answered the phone was patience, kind and helpful. When I arrived I believe it was the same man, and he was equally as nice and helpful in person. The tech who did all the tests/images on my eyes was kind and helpful as well! He explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it in a way I could understand. He made sure all of my worries or concerns were addressed as well. The doctor, Megan Callahan, was probably the kindest doctor I've met in my life. She really cares about her patients! She also explained everything in great detail and made sure I understood my eye health and that I didn't walk out of the exam room with any questions unanswered. I had a case where I was given a wrong script by a big chain office upon moving to Denver, and it was causing me great head and eye pain. She was able to show me the difference between my original script, the wrong one, and my new correct one. And WOW! I am so glad she showed me as it really gave me a better understanding and so much peace of mind. Then I was taken out to try on some frames (they offered to put lenses in the ones I already had and did NOT pressure me at all to purchase anything extra from them) but I found some I love and they did a great bundle with the frames and lenses. All in all I had the best experience I could have hoped to have today! I will be a lifelong patient at this office. Lastly, this office is BEAUTIFUL. The decor is lovely, comforting and still professional. It was spotless clean! The room you pick out glasses in was so comfy and organized. If I could give 100 star rating I would!!

However... I've started joking with myself that I should pack a snack and a novel for my visits. I actually asked the receptionists if I had time to run home for a little bit after I checked in- and I did!! I waited an hour and twenty minute before seeing the doctor at my past visit, and total visits consistently stretch past two hours. I don't write this lightly. I have gone here for years and love the place. I've given it several years hoping the timing would improve, but unfortunately it hasn't. I'm genuinely sad to leave, but I need a practice that respects appointment times a bit more closely. I hope this feedback is taken and motivates a change in their workflows- if so, let me know and I'll be back!

When I went in for the appointment, I wasn't in the system. I was told by the receptionist that the online scheduling wasn't that good. 2) Re-scheduled an appointment. I know, I know - after my online experience, I should have realized that my appointment the next day was going to be like a funhouse of distorted mirrors. How you may ask? Glad to explain. a) Day of appointment I was in the receptionist's system; however, the eye-tech couldn't find me in her system in her office. I was told that I needed to go to the reception area to wait. I balked. Finally, the receptionist came in, and they realized that the eye-tech was looking for me under the wrong doctor. This took some time . b) I got my eyes dilated. While my eyes were dilating, I was put in another office. After a really long time, I stepped out and asked one of the techs how long I'd have to wait. She told me I needed to go back in because my eyes were dilating. c) After more time, the optometrist came bursting in and told me he had LOST me. Apparently, I had been placed in a normally unused office. d) Finally, I left Arvada Vision & Eye Clinic after an hour and a half. BUT WAIT: 3) Like a marching band of floating instruments following me home, even though I paid in full (the receptionist insisted), I received a bill saying I still owed them more money.

However, I was caught off guard at the end when I was told there was a $100 fee for the contact lens fitting that no one mentioned when I booked. I specifically asked about Medicaid coverage and extra fees ahead of time, and nothing was said. Because I wasn't prepared for that charge, they wouldn't release my contact prescription. On top of that, the front desk woman, Barbara, was rude and dismissive when I questioned it. It's a shame because the doctor truly was great, but the poor communication and bad attitude at checkout ruined an otherwise good visit. Make sure you double-check all costs before going in.

DO NOT ever buy glasses from this place. It's a total scam. They tell you that you have 30 days to…read morereturn a pair of glasses but it's not true. You don't get the really test them out on whether you like them are not and when you try to make a return the excuse they use is "it's custom made," which just applies to the lenses. I told them I would even be willing to eat the cost of the lenses but I want a refund for the frames. I' was also open to getting a credit to buy contact lenses and it was a no. They are unwilling to work with you in anyway. I gave them another alternative to switch out to another pair of glasses and she initially indicated that could be an option and then said "-actually no." Mind you that this is not a $100 pair of glasses, it's actually over $500. I should have trusted my gut when they were trying to sell so hard on the glasses they offered. I bought one pair and when I came to get them and get them adjusted, I was pushed to buy another cheap pair. This is not an honest business. I had told her that if there's not resolution to this I am going to write an honest and truthful review so others know and her response was "sure go ahead." And of course that would be what she responded with, they already took $600+ from me.
