They know the merchandise, the system, and how to handle insurance. They make great suggestions and have an artist's eye - able to recommend frame color and shape that looks great. I had a great experience working with Jax and Gregory when I came in to get a new contact lens prescription. Jax looked at every way possible to lower the cost of a years supply of contacts and Gregory was extremely thorough with getting me a proper prescription and answering additional questions that I had. I received the wrong prescription. Had to see another doctor to have that confirmed. The bitchy manager told me she was putting the request for new lenses on my protection plan. Next time I went in to get new glasses due to the scratches she told me I could not do that because I could only use my protection plan once. I went to another Target Optical and found out that the plan can be used more than once but now it is expired by 15 days . No customer service with her. This was an excellent retail experience, start to finish. Broke my glasses on a Friday afternoon (of course) and started looking online for best options. I had no idea Target had the optical shops but fate was v. kind and I happened to be a few blocks away from this location when I started looking. Stopped in & met the amazingly friendly & well informed Nick and got a general sense of cost and procedure. Looked at a few other options over the weekend and felt this was the best way to go. Had my exam on Tuesday AM and got a call on *Thursday* afternoon that the glasses were in. (I'd been warned it could take longer & seen other online reviews complaining about this but clearly my experience was different.) Perfect fit and I was really pleased with the prescription. The exam was painless (no dilation a big +) and very thorough. Dr Woods was easy, friendly and informative. Caveat: You *could* ding them on not having a huge section of frames but I have to say it's an exceptionally well chosen collection. I started with at least 10 pairs I would have been very happy with. Took awhile to narrow it down to a sleek Oakley design that I love now. prices for frames seemed quite good, as low as 99 for the Target house brands and up to low 200's for my runner up, a sleek pair of Ray-ban frames. BEWARE! I will never return here because the sales guy was very persistent trying to up sell me and I ended up walking out. He was trying to charge me $150 claiming I needed special coating on my lenses - WITH insurance. He had no clue what he was doing. DO NOT come to this ratchet location! They are all about up-selling you extra services. He made a point to tell me that he didn't get commission and did not care if I bought there or not, typical slacker mentality. I will be filing a formal complaint with Target corporate and also my insurance carrier but I doubt it will help. read more

Third year of eye exams and new glasses at this location and I will keep returning. Each year, the doctor changes, but Nick is still there to help me find the right pair of glasses. The eye exam is quick and accurate so I know I'll see better when my new glasses arrive. I'm always frame shopping alone and trying to text pics to my daughter for her opinion. I really don't have to bother because Nick does a great job of giving an honest opinion of which ones will work well with my prescription AND look good on. I've been waiting for the Belmar Target to get an optical since they opened, and I couldn't be happier now that they do. The doctor's exam was very thorough and all the equipment was brand new. She even has one of those cameras that takes a picture of your eye so you don't have to get dilated. The optical manager guy was kind of goofy but knew his business and helped me pick out a really cute pair of glasses. I will definitely be coming back to this optical! read more

This was my first time going to Target for glasses/contacts, etc. and I'm so glad I did! First of all, prices were very affordable; but the staff is really what made the experience great! Dr. Neighbors was very kind, patient, friendly and knowledgeable. And Nick was awesome!! He was so friendly and outgoing, and he made you feel very comfortable! He helped me for probably an hour picking out glasses and getting everything I needed, and I never felt like a hassle.
