Had a really bad experience with this doctor. Took my son there for an eye exam and glasses. After a few months, I noticed my son was getting a little crossed eyed. Then I took him to a specialist , who said the glasses were the problem. Then I went back a few days ago, to tell the doctors if my concerns. He then looked at my son again, and now his prescription is off by over 1 degree. Then blames me and tell me my son was crossed eyed from get go, without ever noting it. Then wants me to pay my deductible, when he clearly gotten my son's wrong the first time. Then when u complained, he just brushed me off and tells me to go find another provider. Some doctors really care about their patients and others seem to only care about money. Sadly this doctor is only about the $$$. read more

We recently moved and my work changed vision providers, so I figured this was a perfect time to find a new eye doctor. I searched through my providers website and compared the "in-network" providers to their Yelp reviews and found EyeQ. I called on 6/20 and scheduled an appointment for 6/21 @ 3pm for myself, wife, and son. We showed up early and the front office staff was puzzled and the lady I scheduled it with accidentally scheduled it for 6/22. I was a bit concerned but figured it was a simple mistake. We completed our eye exam, selected our glasses, and left. Fast forward to today, 7/7 and I was thinking I haven't heard from them and was wondering what happened to our glasses? So I called in and she indicated that my glasses were done but my wife's lenses came in scratched and they had to return it! Ok fair enough. Of course, I inquired when her glasses would be ready. She couldn't answer that question and said she had to call the lab. She calls me back about 15 mins later indicating they "should" be in by the Friday, 7/14. Keep in mind that would be over 3 weeks, it's actually closer to 4 weeks for a single pair of glasses! Wow! I asked her if she could expedite it. She said, "no" because of that how long it takes the lab plus shipping. Again, I pressed her and asked if she could expedite it with the lab or the shipper and she reiterated, "no" This should provide some insight into their customer service because we all know this is a BS answer. I've been wearing glasses for 25+ years and know for a fact you can expedite it with the lab or have the lab PAY for it to be FedEx' since the lens arrived scratched. Of course, this requires extra work and effort on their part which apparently they're unwilling to do. So I do NOT recommend this place solely based on the incompetence of their front office staff. read more

My girlfriend came in and asked to order sunglasses with her prescription but did not want to get all the additional addons they were offering her. The Optician that helped her was extremely nice and understanding about wanting simple lenses for her sunglasses. Dr. Le was overseeing the entire transaction and once he heard she was not purchasing additional addons. He insisted that my girlfriend purchase polycarbonate lenses even though she stated she had bad experiences with that type of material. He did not want my girlfriend to use her insurance and wanted her to then pay out of pocket for the entire order. My girlfriend refused and asked to stick with using her insurance. Dr. Le then asked her to get out and go somewhere else. The entire ordeal was very embarrassing. Stay away from this place unless you like being told what you can and can not buy. read more

2.5 stars -- I wanted to give this place a five star. I really did, but it just did not meet my expectations. I'm a brandwhore. Whoopie di doo. I yelp'd a place to get a pair of Chanel eye glasses after I misplaced my old one last summer. Eye Q has a great selection of brand name eye glasses. 1 star for that. They were also able to squeeze me in last minute, another star for being so accommodating. Dr. Minh really does give a fast check on your eyes, which is super my style. So, 3 stars. I was traveling out of the bay -- the receptionist and I timed the delivery for the glasses to come to their office so I can just pick it up on the way down to SoCal. However, it didn't arrive on the day it was supposed to. She was unable to track it down... How do you not know where your products are at? Minus one star. When it did finally come, it was exactly what I wanted. It felt great to be able to see the world as it is again. I'll be generous and give them another whooping three stars! Boom, 5 blingingggg stars. My vision hasn't changed in the last 4 years. My eyes are super blind and the axis are OD 170 and OS 180; however, on my contact lenses prescription, whoever entered it in the system entered OD 170 and OS 010. Um, hello. How did you fuck that up so badly? You subtracted 170 degrees from my vision! I called and told them. They were telling me I was wrong. No, not really. It wouldn't change that dramatically. Like I said, I've had the same vision for over four years. Eventually they were willing to send me an updated prescription so that I can refill my contact lenses supply. Fast forward to five months later. I wanted a new pair of glasses... This time going through a different eyeglass place because really... I don't need to spend another $400 on just frames. BUT THE SAME THING HAPPENED. You would think that when I originally called and had the prescription corrected for the contact lenses that they would go ahead and change it for the regular eye glasses too, but they didn't! This time I spoke to Dr. Minh himself and he was reluctant to change it to the CORRECT vision, but did anyways. Mostly because I was angry and telling him that his incompetent employees were short of... well, competent. Either it was them who entered the prescription incorrectly or it was Dr. Minh who has chicken scratch handwriting. Anywho, minus 2.5 stars for getting me all worked up! If I did my math right, this leaves them at 2.5 stars. The Chanel frame and lenses I bought from you probably have the wrong prescription. Thanks for making me more blind -- you guys suck. read more

Service: The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable regarding their frames. I have purchased two separate frames here in the past and the process of getting my prescription glasses have been a breeze. Anna and Nhu-Y are super friendly and took their time to help me select glasses and the right type of lenses to my liking. Selection: I shopped around at other optometry's for frames but this one stands out in terms of having a wider selection of designer frames especially Chanel prescription glasses since very few stores carry them. read more

I LOVE THESE GUYS! They were very flexible, very accommodating, ordered the frames I wanted even though they weren't standard, and then when I had to go elsewhere for covid, they mailed them to me. When the coating started to come off of the inside of one of the pairs of prescription polarized lenses I ordered, they were quick to tell me when the warranty expired, and I was surprised at how fast they came back. Very friendly, very professional. read more

I've been to this optometrist several times and I now believe I can make a relevant review. Most other yelpers give this place great reviews. And why wouldn't they? They staff and Dr. Le, are well mannered and courteous for the most part and the atmosphere seems pleasant. However, my review doesn't encompass manners or atmosphere. It is about competence and your ability to diagnosis an eye problem. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Kim, only Dr. Minh Nhat Le, OD so my review is aimed towards him. If you need a quick eye exam or need to get fitted for new glasses, this place does the job. However, if you have any type of eye conditions or one day wake up with a case of blepharitis or something of the like, I would advise you to go elsewhere. In my case, I was worried because my eyes felt horrible and on the numerous visits I made, I was bombarded with eye drops (I could list them all, but won't) and even some type of medication (??). Mind you, he was not straightforward about what this particular medication was and I was reluctant to take it. The doctor started to frighten me about the condition of my eyes. I had to seek a second and third opinion, one being an Ophthalmologist and on both occasions, they quickly shook their heads at Dr. Le's diagnosis. Under new care I was given one eye drop and was told my eyes would be fine in one week. Here I am now and my eyes are as healthy as ever. I am glad all other yelpers were provided with great care but sadly I was not apart of that group. read more

This is a little awkward and unethical to review my eye doctor. So I'll review the business aspect of it. Just so you know though, the Doctor is really knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. You're not left wondering what the heck is going on. They have a wide selection of glasses and the front office workers are really helpful. I selected a Chanel frame. I noticed they even had the new styles Chanel released, meaning this place stays up to date with all the new trends. The front office worker helped me with my purchase and tried her best to give me a discount. Although she couldn't hook me up with a deal on the frames, she did take off the lens fee from my bill. I remember my first pair of glasses they gave me a great deal on those. I am so glad that I have a great Optometry Office close to home without long waits to go to. I highly recommend Eye Q Optometry to anyone who needs new glasses or contacts! Don't hesitate to make an appointment or to come and window shop to see their selection. read more

I give this place 1 star because I had to call 3 times to get an appointment. I had left messages on their machine for someone to call me back to make the appointment but never got a return call. Then my glasses came in and no one called me to tell me they were ready. When I pointed this out to them they straight out did t care. read more

I had been going to Eye Q long before Dr Minh took over - but even with the transition, the customer service was always on par. Recently, I called and received their voice mail - left a message for a call back to schedule an appointment - no one called back. When I finally got ahold of someone, I explained I had new insurance - she indicated she couldn't find it under the information provided. When I asked if I could book an appointment while I investigated this (and also stated I would call back to cancel if my insurance was not valid) - she stated she could only hold it until the end of the day (it was 3pm on a Friday - who has EVER gotten an insurance question answered that quickly on a Friday??). I was super disappointed, especially since 1. they never returned my call and 2. I've been a LONG time patient (easily for over 10 years). read more

I go here because it's close to my house, and they get the job done. The doctor is knowledgeable and polite, although unenthusiastic. What my gripe is how poor their costumer service is, every time I walk into the store, I'm not greeted. The people there don't look up to check if I need any help and there are several times I'm left waiting to be helped when the total of 3 staff members do menial tasks like clean or file paperwork. I will continue to go here because it's a relatively short interaction, but I hope the staff becomes friendlier and more attentive because honestly it's not a pleasant experience. It doesn't feel nice to be in a place where you're confused and the staff doesn't seem to care about you. read more

Came here for my check up, but this time I was getting a fit for my glasses. They were running low on the selections and told me they'll be getting more summer styles in a couple of weeks. I still took a look and ended up finding two pairs I liked. I couldn't decide, so I asked all the staff to pick which one looked best. There's no sales catch here cause without knowing what choices I had, they ended up choosing the cheaper one, plus for me! Staff were still super nice as always and super helpful. Still my favorite optometrist. read more

Been here twice in the past two years, just for the exams. If you're looking for something quick, this is the place. The first time I came I called to make an appointment and the process was very smooth. The second time I called when they opened and was able to come in within 15 minutes! Just what I needed! Price is very fair, cheaper than Costco by about 9$ if you don't have insurance for both eye and contact. If you have insurance it will be even cheaper! read more

My job just recently switched from Kaiser insurance to VSP insurance which made no sense to me but whatever. I had to find a new eye doctor and thankfully my friend referred me to Dr. Le. Dr. Le was very nice and answered all my questions like, "I'm I going blind?!" I have very bad vision which is consistently getting worse, so its nice to know that no, I'm not going to be blind at 30. He also did a thorough eye exam for me. It had been a LONG time since I had a check up and it was a little comforting knowing that he didn't "judge" me on my poor "eye"gene haha. I really liked him though because he was easy going and seemed to have a good rapport with the other clients in the office. Overall the office is very organized and modern. Connie, the lady at the front desk, had all my paper work ready and all I had to do was sign my name when I walked in which made switching optometrists a breeze. Connie also was the one that helped me with either choosing glasses or contacts. She thoroughly explained my coverage and calculated everything for me so that I will be able to max out my benefits and help me choose which would save more money. I would think a business would try to make you spend the most money possible, but not this office! It is nice to know that there are people out there that actually care. Also, I am happy to say that I can finally see without squinting. It has been forever since I've gotten my eyes checked! read more

After looking around eight different eye-glass stores, Eye Q Optometry had the best selection for black-rim glasses. The staff members are SUPER nice and extremely helpful. Notably, the glasses are on the pricey side; however, you get what you pay for. I do recommend getting the scratch-free protection (for an additional $20-25). My mistake the first time around was refusing the option and as a result got some permanent marks a couple of months into wearing my glasses. Overall, pleasant place, great selection, friendly & knowledge staff, I definitely recommend checking them out. read more

I love it here! Ive been going here for awhile now. And their service and friendly staff are super. i just recently brought my daughter (6 yrs. old) here a couple weeks ago too. And she loves the office. It's a very homie feel. Dr. Le is super friendly. I love how he tells me step by step on what he'll be doing throughout the exam. My daughter loved that too because knowing my daughter she will ask a billion questions before you could put your hands on her. My daughter re'cvd her glasses on Tuesday and she was so excited. She loves her new glasses. She said she can see her homework clearly now. lol I would never go elsewhere. Book your appointments and see for yourself! They are awesome and very informative. Great service. Everyone was welcoming and nice. I haven't been to an eye doctor for quite some time even though I should have long ago. I'm pretty impatient and the fact that I didn't have to wait long was cool. Dr. Lee was the one who saw me and he was fast, proficient, and helpful. I was in and out of there pretty fast. He asked me lots of questions, and ensured his diagnosis. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because of the selection of glasses. I wish there was more to look at, but I had to pick what was available since I didn't want to go anywhere else. I sort of felt like I had to hurry up and choose too. read more

Great doctor. He's very nice and really takes his time to explain situations or problems about your eyes. The admin ladies are all very friendly and only want to help you. The wait area is nice and clean, nothing too small, it's a large waiting area. Their magazines are updated and don't have last years issues like other places. Their selections for frames are huge and if they don't have it on display, then they have catalogs you can choose from. Minus one star because sometimes I feel like they only want my money. read more

I've been going to Dr. Kim for about three years now. And i hate going to get my eyes checked. But she's so good at what she does that she makes everything go by so quickly and easily. A+ service. Dr.Minh Nhat Le was very nice and made me feel at ease, very professional. My-Chi Tran had been helping me out over the phone. She was very personable and great to work with! I'll continue to come here in the future for my eye exams and hopefully a pair glasses. read more

I came in very nervous (first time getting glasses EVER). Unsure if they would take my insurance. The previous place that I had went to waited until after my eye exam to tell me my insurance wasn't covered. I ended up paying full price for my eye exam... Being a working college student that did NOT sit well.So I took my prescription and left. BUT Eye Q gladly accepted my insurance, and she went through the process of explaining to me what my insurance covers, and to my surprise they offered very good deals! I was not able to catch the name of the young lady helping me, BUT she was very patient. She was able to walk me through the store. The selection of brand name glasses was very nice, and the ones I wanted badly were really out of my budget, but she was able to help me find a similar style in a different brand. I ended up staying for two hours trying to decide between 2 frames... In the end she helped me come to my decision. I just want to thank her so much for being so patient. Will definitely be coming back here again. SO HAPPY with this place! read more

Most of the staff here are friendly but for this guy. He is rude and actually useless. Yes useless. He refused to talk to the vendor and have my specs replaced even though it broke twice within 10 days of purchase. Oh another annoying thing about this guy is that he never allowed me to complete my sentence. Always cutting me short like he is in a hurry to catch a moving train!!!!! I saw Dr. Le and he was great! It's been a couple years since I've been to get my eyes checked but it was a pleasant experience. They have a large selection of frames ranging in price including designer brands. Enough of a selection to keep me occupied the entire time I was waiting for my eyes to dilate. Staff was friendly and informative. They did a good job of explaining what was covered by insurance and what was not. Also nice that they are open on the weekends. read more

Dr. Minh Le is friendly and his "young" Optician that helped me was extremely nice, when I came 3 weeks ago. I purchased a new glasses, and pickup last weekend. After received a new glasses, I double checked/ found out the lenses installed very poor, I came back and asked one of his staff, I would like to fix my glasses, She refused my request, she said that how i paid that lenses, she raised her voice, if i want to pay more money, i told her, why they did not explain or tell me? She said, she was not in office that day... I had bad experiences with that service, She cannot tell how much more i have to pay. she said, "it is depending on the lab". I will not come back this office, never recommend this place to others either. I paid that glasses, got bad glasses read more

I called in to make an appointment but I had to hang up. The receptionist sounded irritated when I was talking to her.

The receptionist was super helpful and sweet. She is so kind. The doctor is the ultimate sweetheart. She was sooo helpful and very knowledgeable. She was very attention to detail about what my needs are and what she recommended I think this is the best I have a been to ever in my life I've been wearing glasses since I was three years old and I think this is the best I've never had anybody take their time step-by-step breaking down all the details that is needed to make my decision a lot easier read more

The Dr. and Staff were very accommodating when it comes to squeezing me in for an appointment the same day. However, I came there recently because my daughter broke my glasses and I did not have a replacement pair. I brought the glasses for them to see and asked how soon they can have my new glasses shipped to them. They said 5-7 business days, it's been 2 weeks now and still no calls from them. I'm pretty disappointed because they saw the state of my glasses and did not make it a priority to at least try to get it out within a week. I actually had to call to find out the status of my glasses, which the girl then told me that it should come in today and yet I have not received a call from them. After having to pay over $300 for a pair of glasses, I would expect a follow up call. Do not buy glasses from them it may take you a month to receive your glasses verses going elsewhere and receiving it within 2 weeks! read more

Good customer service, everything else is very questionable. They willingly took me in as a last minute appointment and were very flexible with my schedule. The girl at the front desk was very helpful with figuring out my insurance info. However, the exam itself felt shady. The optometrist didn't clean anything before I used it, though I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that maybe he cleaned it beforehand, but it's nice to get that in-person reassurance of cleanliness. He asked me what contacts I usually wore, and I told him I couldn't remember but I knew you were allowed to wear for a month. He replied saying, "ok well just say you wear Oasys." He gave me a new pair and said I could wash my hands only if I wanted to, which was kinda weird for an optometrist to suggest haha. I was happy to finally wear contacts but when I got home I started feeling discomfort and I'm pretty sure he gave me an incorrect size. I wore them for a full day a few days ago and my eyes were red halfway through the day. So now I have to get another contact fitting which is a huge inconvenience and more money out of my pocket. This place is ok if you need a quick prescription and don't have astigmatism, I would suggest going elsewhere even if it means sacrificing more time out of your own schedule. read more

I've been going here for four years! My visit yesterday for a new contact lens prescription was great. I was 15 minutes late, so I called to let them know and it was no problem! The receptionist is super friendly and professional which I appreciated. Dr. Minh had me in and out within 30 mins, including ordering my contacts! Not to mention he's friendly as well, and remembers things about your last visit like dry eyes. I'll be sticking with this place for years to come! read more

Typical sales office. Staff is friendly and nice but it's all about making a sale. Doctor spent 5 min examining me. I would expect post exam overview, cause that the whole point of the exam, but it never happened even I asked for it and the office was slow. Good prices for frames, but they make up for it by over-charging for lenses and various coatings. PS this place is hard to find but parking is plentiful. read more

I've been going almost since they've been open. Dr. Kim told me I was one of her very first patients and she knows me by name ( I saw her at the mall and she said "Hi Chrissy")! She doesn't even need to look at the chart to know my name, it's kind of cool. She even remembers that I go to UCSD. Awesomes! It makes me feel special ;) Anyways, she opened another store and she was on leave for a little while so I haven't seen here in a bit, but her replacement/stand-in doctor is also very nice. I wish I remembered his name...he's the nice bald, Asian optometrist. He's super nice too. I honestly LOVE this place and I basically refuse to take my business anywhere else. Even when I'm in SD and I need to get contacts or glasses, I'll wait till I come back to SJ to get them. You can't beat this place. Seriously. read more

I went and saw Kim Dinh OD for my long overdue eye exam (um, I think my last one was 2-3 years ago). I ended up picking her from a list of yelpers recommendations I'd accumulated from my posting on a talk thread (thanks!) because she took my insurance. So, I'm surprised no one's written a review yet. She & her staff are very pleasant & efficient. Actually, she found out that her husband & I are in similar lines of work, so she was chatting me up about that. After my exam, I picked out new glasses frames, with their assistance (it's nice to get other opinions about these type of things when you go by yourself!). They have a good selection of frames (lots of the high-end ones too if you're into that). They even went over what my insurance would cover & everything in detail, so there wouldn't be any surprises. I also (rarely nowadays) wear contacts, so she also gave me a new sample pair for me to try, & if I like them, said she'll write me an Rx. So, I was told my glasses should be ready in 5-10 business days. They called & left me a message 3 days after my appointment to tell me that my glasses were ready! I didn't even see the message until late that night. So, I went the next day to pick them up. OK, my new glasses are very similar to my old ones, so I don't know if anyone's noticed so far. Well, OK, one person's noticed & complimented me, but he has the eye for that type of detail anyway...you know who you are, if you're reading this! ;-) Located in a shopping center on the southwest corner of Capitol Expressway and Silver Creek Rd., along the side bordering Silver Creek Rd. read more
