Called my info tape for details around 3 hours before call time on set and discovered that EXTRAS/CENTRAL made a mistake. Once again, they had booked me to a location that I specified not to be sent to. "Do you want to cancel?" I replied yes and politely informed the female correspondent at Central that I was NOT supposed to be sent out to that area because I already exercised your sister company's (Extras) option of marking that destination down as a no-go policy zone due to excessive mileage. "Why are you just NOW calling me to cancel?!" I replied, "Now? I shouldn't be calling you AT ALL in the first place. So I don't understand why are you trying to change the subject to something completely irrelevant." She instantly barked, "It's relevant because had you just called us sooner, we would've fixed the problem we caused and assigned a replacement! But because you called us so late to cancel, we don't have enough time now to find anyone else to replace you!" The interrogation continued with, "Why did you call your info tape so late?!" I responded, "What difference does it make what hour I call the info tape if I get to set on time like everyone else? 2+2=4 and so is 2x2, correct? So what difference does it make whether we apply addition or multiplication considering the numerical result or final outcome is precisely the same? If the final outcome is me showing up on time regardless, what difference does it make what time I call?" "It makes a difference to us because now we can't fix the problem we caused based on your decision to cancel! Had you simply checked your details earlier by calling earlier, you could spotted the mistake we made and reported it to us sooner! But because you checked your details so late by calling late, we can't fix it now! You understand!? So this is all YOUR fault!!!" WOW. Hey Einstein, you understand this. You wouldn't even need to seek a replacement had I not canceled, correct? What need for me to cancel if you guys hadn't fumbled the ball in the first place? I said, "I'm already losing work because of this and you're trying to blame me?" She screamed, "THAT'S NOT MY PROBLEM! YOU KNOW WHAT?! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?! YOU'RE BEING VERY RUDE, VERY IRRESPONSIBLE, VERY IMMATURE AND YOU'RE ACTING LIKE A CHILD!!! THOUSAND OAKS TOO FAR, RIGHT?! WHERE ELSE DON'T YOU WANNA GO!? WHAT ABOUT MANHATTAN BEACH!? THAT TOO FAR FOR YA!? PROBABLY, RIGHT?! LET'S GET RID OF THAT TOO THEN! HOW ABOUT THAT, HUH?! MIGHT AS WELL! SAVE US THE TROUBLE!" I'm certain she would've continued her tirade except another incoming call needed to be addressed. She told me her name was Lisette and I immediately reported this incident to the manager at Extras Management (Kim) and she did reply with a sincere apology. Kim informed me that she would contact Lisette personally and call me back with the details of her investigation. I was extremely relieved when Kim reassured me that this was NOT my fault and there's nothing to worry about. She ended the conversation by saying, "On behalf of Extras Management and Central Casting, we like to extend our most sincere apologies for this morning." Kim called me later that evening saying, "You really need to start explaining yourself why you didn't call for details sooner. Because I need an explanation RIGHT NOW to report back to Central why you decided to call so late. I thought you were in the clear but now I'm retracting my apology and you BETTER have a great explanation!" WTF?! Kim later says, "So now that I know the whole story, you know what? Lisette was right all along. This IS your fault! You screwed up big!" In absolute disbelief, I asked, "Is this Kim?" She confirmed it was and without a heartbeat, immediately continued to pursue crucifixion on behalf of Central. Amazing how Kim pretends to be civil one moment then unite forces with the Gestapo across the street and stab me in the back hours later. My incident with Lisette/Kim reminds me of one I experienced back in grade school. I uncovered my teacher had mistakenly assigned the wrong homework to the entire class after she had already left campus. I approached the nearby principle regarding the matter and he asked, "Well whut da hell you expect me to do about it? Huh!? Had you decided to be smart and check your homework sooner, you could reported that to the teacher and she would've fixed it already! Right!? Now she's gone and because of you, the entire class is stuck doing the wrong homework. So you better have a good explanation as to why you decided to check your homework so late!" Hey ladies, this sounds familiar to you? It would seem you girls have cleverly dodged a bullet with production by scapegoating me as your "frame-up" crash test dummy fall guy. Deviously managed to dodge a bullet at my expense but inadvertently stepped on this landmine along the process. How smart is that? Good luck dodging this one. read more

Extras Management is the Nazi regime of calling services. Anyone who says differently, is being bribed or has friends in the office. Or maybe never does anything but this... First of all, if it's just about money and you really don't care how you're treated, here's the low down. If you are non-union, and leave your schedule open, there is a good chance you can work rather frequently. If you're union, you may or may not have as much luck with them, depending on your flexibility and the season. There's a line however that all of us cross at some point, because life happens, auditions happen and shit happens, quite frankly. This line however, is where Extras Management lives up to their horrible reputation of being the heartless entity that they are. For instance, if you're on set and you're not even in a shot, and they book you on the same project the next day, but you try to cancel for a valid reason, be prepared to be wiped out from their system. They have no soul. They do not care. They have a business to run, they don't forgive and they don't forget. They show no lenience at all. Understandable? I think not. Even though technically they could easily replace you, and other casting companies that you don't have to pay for would do so under normal circumstances, Extras Management oh-so-heartily wants to remind you that THEY are doing YOU a favor, even though you're paying them technically, you're nothing to them. You don't matter to them and they don't let you forget that. EVER. You're just another body in a large mass of constantly incoming persons, all who ultimately come and go, and use EM and are used by EM and are discarded by EM. They should just post a big old swastika on their door. Maybe with a money symbol in the middle because that's all they care about. You must play by their rules or die, by never being permitted to work for them again. They have control, that's what it's really about at the end of the day, and they know it. So, they utilize their work wand and make other people who are in sometimes desperate circumstances - we the actors and those of us trying to survive an honest living without degrading ourselves and our morals - pay for any mistakes because THEY CAN. We the professionals, who do not show up late, who do not just flake on a job assignment, but are hard-working, reliable, honest, good people, have to pay for those, I suppose, who have made numerous lame excuses in the past. I could give you other examples. For instance, emailing them to not be booked on certain projects and then them giving me a lot of attitude when they booked me on something I asked to not be booked on. They said they were giving me a "warning" and that if I cancelled again, I would be terminated from their system, not allowed to come back for a year. But in their definition, that's really a lie. Because they never let you back in, unless you can do something for them, or you're connected they don't forget. And they don't forgive. They're bureaucratic attitude about following every single rule, crossing all your t's and dotting all your i's according to their rules and regulations is complete hogwash. Sometimes it's just a matter of semantics and it can get pretty absurd. Finding any excuse to eliminate you for not dancing to their dictations. In my entire experience with them, I have encountered nary but one calm, friendly individual there, who probably was an older, more mature, less-ego-driven individual, so acted like a human being instead of a narcissistic piece of crap. And hey, I understand how it is to work in a call center, how to work for a talent agency, the pressure, the angst and rash of shit you get from having to deal with other people, the excuses, the lies, the rudeness. But not all of us are liars. Not all of us are bad people. Many of us are good people and should be treated more kindly, with more respect, less ego and more humanity. Like we're actual human beings. Not just cattle. Not that doing background work makes any of us ever feel special, even when you become union, (At least you can get paid to starve because those meal penalties do add up eventually.) But to be made to feel even worse because they have so many clients that they can't even maintain their own and keep track of your emails to them and calendars. Please. It is time for the monstrous monopoly that Central Casting with Extras Management has created to end. Time to take back our rights. For those of us who are union and non-union. WARNING, here is what happened to me! Being new to the business I was convinced by some hipster handing out fliers on the street outside Central Casting to sign up with Extras Management. Seemed like a good idea at the time but I was a little apprehensive about giving them money up front. Never a good idea in my book. Anyway went through their registration where a very nice lady explained how the they worked and how to be successful in this business. She was really obsessed with confirming and updating our availability so that was my take away. Then she took some great pictures of what ever changes we had and the hipster took our money. Well everything was going great, I was getting booked all the time. Ignoring the BS i heard on set from other actors that seemed less than reliable and obviously had a ax to grind. NOW I KNOW WHY. Oh how I wish I had listened! Some guy was going on and on how badly he was treated by some lady named Pam and how if you hear babies crying in the background you better call again. So a few weeks go by and I have have to go out of town. I call well in advance and after waiting on hold forever I gave the "dates" to some kid yelling at someone over a baby crying. Sure enough I get a text a few days later when I'm half way across the country that I'm picture picked on a two day call by Central. Now i 'm freaking out so I call in and you guessed it I get Pam. Never in my life have I felt so disrespected. I tried to explain that I spoke to Ryan a few days earlier and there was no way I could make it but she wasn't having it. Told me I would be suspended if I didn't show and fired by Central Casting, WTF. Sure enough the following day I received an email warning me about "communicating my schedule" so I figured I would just let it slide. Everyone makes mistakes and he was obviously distracted. After all they were keeping me alive with work. Now comes the devastating news, a week or so later I received an email from Central Casting telling me I am terminated and that their decision is final. This is so not fair! I called Extras immediately and spoke to the person who booked me on it and she was very apologetic but told me there was no record of my call and that there was not much she could do about it but she would put in a good word for me at Central. A lot of good that does me when it was their mistake! No one calls me back from Central or responds to my emails so now I guess I'm just screwed. Thanks Extras for cutting my career off at the knees! I signed up for Extras Management last month, and have been working most of the days I am available (3 days a week). They allow anyone signing up to have 4 pictures on your file for a one time fee of $10. If you want to switch pictures at any time, you can email them the pictures, or have them take some for you for no extra charge, unlike other call services. I signed up for them after hearing from other people I met on set that they were a good calling service in LA. Even though I saw some reviews, mostly about their cost and that the people weren't getting jobs, I signed up anyways, and haven't looked back since. (and I looked up the Better Business report beforehand, and there was nothing bad about them on there) Cost- They do cost a little more than other services. They are $75/month. BUT, if you don't get any work that month, they only cost $10, and if you only get one job it's $40. So it wouldn't be smart for them not to submit you, you should get as much work as possible. Work- They only submit your picture for castings that are for your type. They have no control over what the CD wants for the shoot. If you aren't' working, give them some new pictures (make sure you have business looks...that gets called for a lot). There have been only a few days when I didn't get booked (and yeah, it kinda sucks not working that day), but I'm sure it wasn't their fault, and that the CD wanted a diff look than mine, or someone with my look got picked first. I have been very happy with them, and feel that it's worth the money, rather than listening for over 30 mins to a hotline. I'd recommend Extras Management to anyone who want to work a good amount of background jobs. I forget when you can register, but it should be on their website. I have worked with Extra Management before with no complaints. It has been many moons ago, but my memories are fond. They kept me busy all week. Be genuine and professional and you may get booked. I've read the reviews and, I hear attitude, no humility and pompous pride in the writings. When you can recognize your role as an atmosphere person and realize you are not the featured act, you can enjoy your work or the lack thereof. :-) Now, how can you call in 4 hours before your call time and say I am sick. Hell, you were sick the night before...you are not being a professional. Like my momma said, "Go to work sick and let them send you home". If I would return to L.A. I would most def sign back up with EM. I need one more voucher to become SAG eligible and working with EM could get me there. Nightmare Registration Process!!!! Brutalized by Extras Management staff consisting of Malerie, Jessica and kevin simply for challenging their demand to present my social security card for registration. I am so sorry for challenging their authority by simply questioning the lawfulness of their demand for me to present my social security card just to complete their registration process, especially when they are not paying me but I am paying them for their services For all who do not know you are not required to present your social security number and to demand one's social security for identification and employment purposes is not lawful unless it is a governmental agency and depending on whether it is federal or state their are different requirements all due to mass identity theft. Top notch, professional, fair, amicable. Love these friends! I signed up as SAG and always worked during busy season and on hiatus, less or course, but they worked me. Anytime I am busy, I call and ask them to take me off of calendar and they have. Once, a great opportunity cane up to work in a feature film and I had already told them I was unavailable to work. The director had specifically requested me so one of the CDs at Extras called and let me know it was a great opportunity and whether I'd like to work. I made 16 hours, " GOLDEN TIME" ,that day and am super thankful for them reaching out. I consider the staff to be my colleagues and friends from afar. I have only great things to say about this company and I'm glad I joined almost two years ago this November. read more

Ive been with Extras Management since 2011. Before that I was with Sandi Alessi and Steve Valero in 2007. Extras has been a great help. I got my vouchers for SAG-AFTRA and joined. I had one experience once in which a california born actress, older,taller then me but non-union tried to bully me after one of our scenes. I was raised near New York and trained by professionals. Acting is my only job and I like when I'm with a serious group. I've saved a lot and hope to have enough for cosmetic improvements as I get older. Extras will go the extra distance to help new actors. I think its one of the best agencies to start with. read more

I have been with them for many years! They are one of the best calling services I have ever had. The company does everything in a very old school way and that makes them stand out of any other calling service. As long as you follow their simple guide-lines for orientation and are good with work ethics when they book you, they are good with getting you out there. I have been with this company for a few years now. Someone wrote a review saying that the staff was rude. There were a couple of people that were fired because of that about a year + ago and since then the staff are really pleasant and helpful. I also saw a complaint about paying a fee. The company is a "management" company and I pay a fee to them to have them do the legwork to get me on more shows. They have kept we working more that I ever did on my own and are worth much more that what I pay. read more

During the zoom they explained their entire registration process and how to fill out all my information and a answered all my questions. Told me what kind of pictures to take for submission and set up my account within a few days. Besides getting booked for some awesome shows and movies, the people who work there are also awesome, I have yet to have a single thing bad about them. I have had a hard time getting through their phone lines but they explained they're just busy with the amount of work flowing in but they get back to me pretty quickly if I just send an email or leave them a voicemail with my concerns. read more

They will only work you when you first sign up then they will work you the minimum of 2 per month to get their money. 2 jobs x 64 - 128 - their 79.00 leaves you with $49... you can book yourself.
