The experience was great with my dear friend. Joseph and I were helping her out to move things from her apartment to the storage unit. We did that slowly it was hot but got it done. The storage is good place to store small collection to your living room whatever size needed. It s been tough on everything going up and we are trying to have a balance. This place decided to install a new security system and in order to access the elevator you have to first put in your code then when the door opens up you have to then put your code in again, but if someone from another floor click on the button to call the elevator it will go to them first and when you get back to the first level you have to do this procedure again. Do not rent a unit on the basement level or you may have this problem too. They have an app, but I do not come here often and I had my phone remember the password, but the system unfortunately does not recognize it and now I have to manually put this info in. It would be nice if they could just rent me a clicking device to get in each time. It might be cause I am older and not much into the new technology? I am not about to move my stuff out of here, but wish it was not so difficult to get in and down to the basement. read more

I am using the Extra Space storage in Sunland, CA and it has generally worked well and is clean and secure. Elevator is a hassle to use even with the app on the phone, you can call the elevator with your phone app but have a limited amount of time to reenter your code to then be able to go to your floor. I was also very disappointed to have them raise the rental on the unit less than three months after signing a lease, would have expected it after a year but not in less than three months. Read the fine print they state in the agreement that they only need to give you 30 days notice to raise the rent at anytime. I was not under any special deal when I signed. The manager that was there when I signed was very helpful and appreciated her competence. read more

I called on Thursday to get price quotes and was told I could come by on Friday to look at the units. I went by during office hours, but the doors were locked and no one was inside. In fact it was the middle of the day, and I had taken off work to drive up there--about 30 minutes from my office. I called the national number twice and was told that they would be in touch with "Ray", but no one ever showed up. Thank goodness they showed their poor service before I rented a spot. Clean place, friendly, helpful staff, senior discount, but beware! Two rent raises in less than a year. It's doubled since I moved in. Still researching online but, so far, I've found, according to California state law on storage units, rent can only be raised 10% during one year. Mine was raised 96% in 11 months. I moved out today. They should have been honest and warned me that the great deal "online price", will mostly likely be raised soon after. Instead, I naively thought this was the price. It was raised, the first time, three months later. And then again, eight months later. I'm going back to Raymond Storage in Pasadena. Rented storage there before for 15 years, and they never raised my rent. Not once. read more

The people at this location have been a tremendous help while my life is in a period of transition. Offering a climate-controlled option for items that require stability in this extreme environment is a huge bonus, however the security at this location is outstanding. Initially, I was informed there was an issue with vagrant break-ins, and the property had appearance and maintenance issues as a result, but that was all prior to the current management taking over. Walking the property over the last few months, one honestly would have no idea that had ever been an issue. Management has been incredibly understanding and helpful during the short time that I have rented a unit at this location; indeed they define going above and beyond. I had come to the location so that the locking mechanism could be changed as it looked like it had been tampered with. But last night I got a notice that the monthly rate was going really high (outside unit that I could drive right up to), so Ray the manager was really helpful and was able to get me a bigger unit that was inside for a much better price. Ray gave me a temporary lock so that I could move everything on one day and not have to worry about stuff being stolen from one locker to the next. read more

I needed to order an additional storage unit and worked with Anthony the Site Manager. He was fast and friendly and helped me to carry the boxes I purchased to my car. I was most impressed when a person from the street approached he and I in the parking lot. He was approaching us in an assaulting way blabbing nonsense and racial slurs towards Anthony who maintained his professionalism and told the man he needed to leave. The man left and Anthony maintained his professionalism with me and started to assess security on the location. My kudos to Anthony! read more

I needed to find a storage unit close by that was business friendly. I keep a couple unit to store business related materials and Extra Space has been the place. I couldn't be happier with the service, cleanliness, and management. Ray, and other managers before, have all been very responsive and caring when addressing issues or concerns. Bur especially Ray. We all know the pandemic and increased drug use over the last 2 years has caused an up tick in crime. Ray has taken additional security measures and has been extremely watchful when it comes to protecting the property and keeping a safe environment for the tenants. I'm very happy with my choice to rent at this location and everyone I talk to here are also happy with renting. Some tenants have been here over 10 years. When I made the decision to use Extra Space Storage, nearly 10 years ago, I did so for one reason: namely, that I was told that if I paid yearly in advance, my rates would never go up. I made sure to clarify this, since Extra Space was neither the closest nor least expensive company to use. For the first few years, I had no issues, until the branch manager left, after which I discovered there were no records of this agreement, other than his verbal assurance. Since then, I've had to jump through hoops to get Extra Space to honor its guarantee. Now, not only am I able to get anyone to take responsiblity for these terms, but there appears to be NO MANAGER at all at my branch -- merely temporary employees who are completely unknowledgeable and useless. I have spoken to the regional manager about this matter. He was extremely sympathetic and said he wished he could help, but said he regretted he did not have the authority to do so. I am extremely disappointed in Extra Space Storage which clearly cares little for its customers -- and customer loyalty. If you can go with another storage company, do so. [EVEN WORSE: Extra Space Storage SOLICITED this review from me, then sent me an email asking me to call them to discuss further. The number they provided simply took me to their regular phone options; namely, to speak to my branch manager -- which is right back where I started. They clearly don't take any complaints seriously. ] UPDATE: I HAVE CALLED THE NUMBER EXTRA SPACE REQUESTED I CALL IN THEIR REPLY, BELOW -- ONLY TO SPEAK TO MY BRANCH MANAGER, WHO TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO.
