First, I got lost, and the lovely man at 875 SM helped guide me to the right address. Then, Samantha at 900 San Mateo went so out of her way to help me cancel my rental at her location and get me what I needed at the Rodeo Road location. There, Dee also went out of her way (and calmed me down, as this whole thing has been so whacky) to help me, explain how things worked, took me directly to the locker, and like Samantha and the gentleman at the first location, was kindness and helpfulness personified. Even though we did not stay, the experience was most excellent. In literally under an hour, Kahrin got us a perfect 10x10 climate-controlled unit. Kahrin educated us on how to pick the right unit for our stuff, and even though we selected a more expensive option, I was 100% sure we were making the right choice. When our plans changed (we were able to keep the house for the summer), she took care of the lease termination, no questions asked, and wished us the best of the summer. The facilities and staff are fine, but once you sign up and move all your stuff in, they raise the prices almost immediately. I read that this happened to many people on our Nextdoor website, so apparently this is their standard operating process. The price increases are predatory! We signed up 6months ago at $77 per month. In 3 months the price was $131 per month, today they want $211 per month. The associate told me that these prices increase like this every 3-4 months. This is criminal and there should be a class action lawsuit against this price increase policy. The place is clean but there are often problems, like malfunctioning elevators and broken garage doors on the loading bays, and they like to jack up the rent every few months. Only rent at Extra Space if you plan on using it for a couple of months because they "encourage" (with very high rent increases) the current customers who have been there awhile to leave in favor of new customers, and they do not tell you about the storage rent increases. You have to watch your account like a hawk to see when the rent gets jacked up. I found out today that my storage is going from 202 to 289 next month, so I already have a place reserved at a new place thru selfstorage.com, and plan on going down to make sure the quoted price as the referral service is legit. But even if it is not, the rent is cheaper at the new place at regular rates. I am giving Extra Space until the time I actually go down to the new place's office to fill out paperwork to offer me a decent price. Mini U Storage is offering 2 months free at slightly cheaper overall rates so which more than makes up for this month's rent at Extra Space that has already been paid. read more

Extra Space Storage in Santa Fe is the BEST!! The service is unbelievably excellent. Renting my space was a breeze. Today was the first day that I visited my space to remember what was in there. A few minutes after I left, I received a call from Josh, that I had locked my space with the door open. They didn't know which unit I was visiting, they just were doing lock checks. I had to move during really stressful circumstances and Anastacia (and all the people) at ExtraSpace Storage went above and beyond to make it a cheerful, easy experience. They gave me whatever discounts they could and sped up the process. I even called 15 minutes before closing for a second, smaller space and we got in there that evening. The space is clean, easy to get to and the doors stay open for you so you don't have to worry about propping them open during the move. They also returned any unused boxes that I had bought there and the wardrobe box. One note, the wardrobe boxes do not fit the new "skinny" hangers. You have to use traditional or plastic hangers because the bar is too wide for the fancy hangers. In any case, I am more than satisfied and feel very comfortable leaving my stuff in this town while I search for employment on the West Coast. read more
