    The short version -- SNOW DAY for us! We have such little respect for our customers once we have their money, we won't be bothered to put on a coat, don our snow boots, and take the UNDERGROUND TRAIN to work. We also won't won't put any, and i do mean any, effort into notifying our customers we are not there, to the extent that if they call and ask, we'll tell them we are are here!! To our customers looking to pick things up, "sorry, you can't have ur things its cold and wet," and to our customers who might need to drop things off maybe due to a move from an apartment, "just reschedule your move around your storage company -- tell your landlord the staff at EXTRA SPACE went sledding in the park and ask your landlord and truck rental company for a few more days, I'm sure they oblige at no cost to you, it is not like it is the last day of the month, that's Monday, maybe we'll be back then! Furthermore, not only do we not care a bout our obligations to you by showing up to work, going are also going to put ZERO effort into communicating that fact to our customers. We can't even be bothered to scribbled "closed due to snow" on a post-it to the door let alone fire up MS Word, type it out and hit print, so there will be nothing on the door (in fact we'll even leave the big sign up that says "YES WE ARE OPEN"), nothing on the website to indicate we are closed and as a company we'll be SOOO dysfunctional that EVEN IF THEY CALL in TWICE before coming we'll tell them we are open and to "come right down and don't forget to haul ur heavy stuff to Brooklyn in the crappy weather, cuz we (won't) be here, you (can't) get it in, and we'll leave you literally in freezing cold with your stuff. Forget the fact that we are holding YOUR THINGS, that you (over) PAY US us to be able to ACESS. Forget the fact that many, many other stores nearby are open who have no obligation to be open to their customers -- restaurants, bodegas, clothing stores, dollar stores basically everything. Those guys are trying to earn their customers respect and business, we already have your money and cc numbers, so while your stuff is here you can count on us to poop on you, dear customer, while the mice in our facility are pooping all over your things (pics below and mentioned on other posts). Personally, I'm hard pressed to think of another type of company besides basic infrastructure such as utilities and banking and those fulfilling basic human needs such as pharmacies and grocery stores that should put forth the effort not matter what to make sure their customers are ok. To management and whoever's job it is to apologize and give me a 888 number to call -- no thanks, and don't call again after reading this review. I'd rather burn my stuff than give your company another penny. And to those employees, if I were you I'd use the hot job market to run from this company as fast as i am about to. Background: I called twice before coming in Saturday and some agent assured me "yes **we** are here in the snow til 7:00PM despite the weather." When i later called back after trying to get it in the same guy, who clearly is at some call center pretending to be on onsite, he continued to assure me they were open until, i guess he bothered to read the text somewhere on his screen that said "possibly closed Sat and Sunday." Update: Closed Sunday's too, it is Sunny as hell, so clearly management is looking to save a few hundred dollars by closing. Customers and their needs be dammed. Oh and look it looks like JM R. had somethign similar happen in April 21... they just don't care!!!!!

    Kind and helpful, space is clean, and anytime I left my unit improperly locked the staff was right on top of it to make sure it was fixed

I went home picked up the six boxes And drove to the storage unit, Mind you the storage unit, my house and Home Depot are about seven blocks from each other. I get to the storage unit. It's about 830 AM, The sign on the door says open come on in. I try to open the door but it's locked. about five minutes still nobody I called the call center at (929) 547-9621, " they do not have a physical person that works at this location and that the key is inside the storage unit" I thought OK well I guess that's possible. But when I went to the storage unit and I attempted to open it, it didn't open it was locked. So I called the 929 number listed above again Spoke to a different person, The second person I spoke to Stated " They're probably walking or helping somebody into their new unit, And asked if I could give 5-10 Minutes" I gave 11 Person still not there. So I called the 929 number a 3rd time This time I expressed my frustration again and the lady on the phone Stated " There is one person for multiple facilities nearby. There was an emergency at another facility." It sounded like she was gonna ask me to just wait and be patient, but I cut her off and stated " That's not my problem, I want my money back. I have to return the van by 10 AM it's 926 " She said that she will put a request in for the cancellation While driving back home to drop off everything that was supposed to go into the storage unit A gentleman from this location called me and gave me a different excuse, He stated "Hi John, you requested a cancellation" I said yes he then stated "why" and I expressed my frustration again. Then he stated "Well, you need to understand sir. There is more than 100 units and I have to check every single one of them so you need to understand that" giving me an attitude. I said "then there should be two people working in that office not one, and that is not my problem that you have to go check everything". He then stated " Well what do you want me to do?" "To process my cancellation & my return like the Request says" I said. "Fine" he's said. I said "Thank you. You have a good day" right before I was able to hang up he said. "Fuck You" That's when I called the 929 number again unfortunately they don't have supervisors but they said that I should be receiving a call from upper management still waiting. This person that was on the phone was helpful, but she kept saying things like but sir, you need to understand no no that's not my problem. That's your problem going back-and-forth. I understand she wasn't the one that cursed at me, but she is guilty by association. Four different excuses, Rude employees disrespectful employees.     I waited 2 years to make this review because I didn't want the prices to go up based on demand…read moresince this is THE BEST place to use as a Storage and parking place. Now, that I was able to clear all my junk, I gave up my space and here it goes. The storage areas are great. My storage room was like a hidden compartment all the way in the back, I had to go thru a few doors to get to it, it can also be confusing to find because the hallways are repetitive with the same style look, I think it was funny...lol Very secure place..lol. I didn't need that much security but hey, it was good....lol They have parking spaces for Vehicles which are great and are a rrrrrrealy great price compared to Parking spot rentals in Brooklyn. I was paying a really good price and it was a set steady price with video surveillance 24/7 and if you think it can't be better than that, guess what? It is !!!! Because in the back of the building there is an NYPD fleet base full of police cars which I really don't know what they do at that location but just so you know, there are cops and detectives in and out 24/7. So, let's say, this is the top most secure Storage place in Brooklyn. Customer service was ALWAYS excellent. Jessica is a sweetheart.

Btw, those complaints DID result in a reduction of monthly payments. Thanks, SP. You've earned two stars this time. However, I still believe that my Yelp-accessible personal account might have assisted potential customers when making an informed decision on their choice of a suitable storage facility.

    THIS FACILITY THREW MY STUFF IN THE GARBAGE WITHOUT EVER NOTIFYING ME. My bill was paid, and…read moreapparently there was a miscommunication with the manager on the amount of units I was renting (they claim just one, when we had discussed two) but NO ONE ever reached out to me, despite them reaching out about other issues. Long version- I rented a small storage unit and quickly realized I needed another. I spoke to the manager and got it taken care of. Apparently when this happens, you have to transfer your goods from one unit to another as SafeGuard does not allow 2 units at once to be rented (which i found out yesterday via disturbing details of my items being thrown in the garbage). I was never told to transfer my items; I live a hop and a skip down the road and surely would have been there to retrieve my items that were "necessary to transfer". Fast forward several months, I go to the smaller of the two units I rented and it's "available for rent". Everything is gone- they said they threw it all away. Apparently there was a miscommunication with the manager and he believed I was simply moving my stuff to the other unit instead of renting both. Fine. But no one ever reached out to me about it. No emails. No calls. No texts. No letters. Meanwhile, I was two-days late paying on the unit last month and got a call each day I was late. They clearly had my correct information for that, but not before THROWING MY THINGS AWAY. They offered me a pitiful 2 months off my storage unit for the inconvenience. Less than $500 for a laptop, my entire summer wardrobe, cameras, camera lenses and supplies as I have a photography company, not to mention items of sentimental value that cannot be replaced!!! I find it suspicious that the boxes were simply thrown away- typically storage that is abandoned in their eyes would be auctioned- this was just thrown in the garbage? This has been a horrible experience and I am weighing my options on how to proceed.

It took me over a week to get my keys, meaning I paid for an empty unit for over a week. However, Hector at the counter was really nice and helpful. I highly recommend working with him. He was super helpful and patient in asking all of my questions while seamlessly dealing with other guests as well. The actual facility is very clean and well lit, and the units are reasonably priced and a good size. It seems safe, too!
