I am new to the storage rental process but they helped me through the process very easily and smoothly. They are way better then Public Storage's process, especially their cancellation process. We rented a unit at Public Storage and when we went to view the unit we couldn't access it due to them doing road work in the complex. So we asked to cancel it and mind you we haven't even approached it or entered the unit and they stuck us for a $29 cancellation fee. Not good business. read more

1st of all clean!! To be right up against a creek with many many trees I never saw debris on the property, no bugs, no mice....nothing but a random bird or bee flying by. I was never even bothered by mosquitoes. I was always there in the evenings and always felt SAFE there alone! There are cameras in use! And occasionally I would still see an employee or 2 after hours. The only facility I will use in the future and I highly recommend this location to Everyone!! I'm a stickler for good customer service. I feel like it's a dying art, so when I get good service, I tell people about it. I booked a unit online and within 5 minutes I got a call from Trey, one of the managers. He confirmed my reservation and gave me the basic info. I went in the following day and Trey was at the front desk. He greeted me by name, having remembered speaking to me the day before. Rather than just jumping into things, he made a point of welcoming me and thanking me for choosing extra space. He was also careful to explain all the details of the contract and the difference between the online special and the on-site special and helped me decide which one would allow me to save the most money. It was probably the most painless storage experience I have ever had and that's saying a lot. read more

Will raise rates while keeping new customer price low. This is their model. It's MUCH better to go to a local self storage that guarantees rates will be the same at min. 12 months or more. I had to find a storage space September of 2015. It was a great price, good location, lots of room. So I got it...staff was very helpful. Several months later I received a notice that my rate was going up from $138 to $150 every month. I was upset and called corporate but was told that it was in my contract and it was being raised to compete with other storage facilities. Today I received notice that it's going up to $170!! I sent a complaint....and the response...same thing! It's in my contract, trying to keep up with surrounding storage businesses (which is a lie), and she informed me per my contract I was notified 30 days in advance. Problem is the $170 charge comes out in 7 days...not 30! I did inform them that I really appreciated their hospitality on the anniversary of my Mom's passing...never said a thing about it to me. I'd suggest shopping else where and read lots of reviews!! read more

Very satisfied with the service provided and happy with the physical facility -- clean, neat and orderly. Not too happy with what proved to be the "real" price of renting a 5x5 storage area. Price quoted was $36 per mo. but then, when I went to sign-up, they added a $22 "administrative fee" and an additional $10 per mo. for an insurance policy for $2,000 (the minimum amount available) when I don't have $500 worth of items. So I ended-up paying $68.00 instead of $36. Kind of a "rip off" in my opinion. NEW UPDATED REVIEW POSTED ON 7/21/2015 Now here I am -- just 4 mos. after renting my unit -- and I get an email stating that my rent is being increased by $5.00 per month (about a 14% increase). I should have listened to those posting a review previously complaining about frequent, excessive and unexplained increases. The $10 per month fee for $2,000 of insurance still "sticks in my craw" and I will be leaving these people just as soon as I find a better place -- and that shouldn't take too long!! Still is a real nice physical facility but that doesn't begin to make-up for their price gouging so let the prospective buyer beware! read more

This Extra Space Storage is excellent. It is clean, well maintained and safe. Located right off of 75 and has a very friendly staff. The storage units are easily accessible. Definitely recommend storing here. Have not had any problems. They also have an easy online payment option that makes it really easy to make monthly payments. read more

Michelle and the gang have been absolutely wonderful! I moved out of town and I always felt my possessions were in great hands. They are the best at customer service. I would have given them 5 stars if it wasn't for the corporate pricing that went up by 60% over the last 6 years. Every few months I would get a call from Michelle breaking the news of a price increase. She made it clear to me that these orders came from the big people at corporate. I have no way of knowing if the other large name storage companies do the same. If they do, I would recommend Extra Space on Wagner to everyone! Your experience will be wonderful!! read more

We recently moved to Plano this past summer from Illinois. Since we down sized (3200 sq ft to 1900 sq ft home), we needed extra space (climate control unit). Being new to the area, we made some calls and decided on Extra Space Storage on Wagner Way. After 5 months, our rate increased. When my husband called to inquire of the increase, he was told this happens. He was not given an explanation on why and when he mentioned that we would be looking for another place, she said "Okay". She made no effort to keep us, or even an apology. We recently moved into another storage space, also near by, which gave us a great deal for the first 3 months and after that we would be paying less per month (almost 70.00 less) than this place. Same size unit and climate control. Extra Space Storage on Wagner Way, was not very accommodating and we do not think they care about their customers. read more
