Came here with my elderly mother earlier in the day to store some packages and whatnot. Needless to say, the genius store clerk who was on duty indicated that they had no more dollies because it was a busy day. So, let me get this straight, because it's a busy day you don't have enough dollies which are essential and critical in being able to help someone make a move? If someone has back issues or elderly are they supposed to just shrug their shoulders and chalk it up to being a busy day? This location has struggled with customer service throughout the years. They need to re-examine their ways, and understand that they're paying customers deserve more respect and by extension more available dollies to help facilitate an easier move in and out of the facility. Saturdays are quite naturally going to be a busy day, and that's also the day when people are either not working or what have you. Therefore, wouldn't it be cool your facility to have ample resources such as extra dollies available for those busy days? read more

My storage unit was broken into, over a decade's worth of valuables and irreplaceable sentimental items gone. Police said there was nothing they could do because there are no cameras inside. Employees were unhelpful, didn't offer any help or free storage for the remaining items while we figured out what to do. Was told "at least you're paying less now" because I was moved into a smaller unit since all my stuff is gone. Made me think that it was an employee that did this. Even before the break-in - they can raise prices whenever they want with very little notice and there's nothing you can do about that. Bait & switch business practices. read more

Seriously I don't know where to begin. Might as well at the beginning. I came in after doing a LOT of research as I have spent a vile and inordinate amount of money on storage over the years. Who hasn't? The gentleman I spoke with on the phone greeted me in the office. Patrick. He walked me through their requirements, my options & what was best for me. No bait and switch...I signed up for a wildly tiny but possibly perfect storage "closet" . The price was brilliant. They had small set up fee and their insurance was reasonable. I was happy. Actually I don't think I could've been happier. The place is always clean, they've ample carts and a working elevator. Great parking. I feel safe there. Literally, nothing to complain about. And trust me I truly enjoy complaining. ... on my last trip over I realized that I have more boxes than room Not to mention a lamp I-really love! An old banjo that I just can't let go of. STUFF! Hence,I went to the office looking for Patrick. He wasn't there, massive panic attack on my part because, I've been in this position before. I might as well just bend over as this is going to hurt. It's all going to be more expensive than I imagined and I'm so so so stuck. I'm so stuck I might have to actually just throw shit away that I really wanted to keep. As I am pulling out my tissues to start sobbing because in my mind, this is going to be BAD! Quite an adorable gal at the front desk greets me. She Kindly tells me to not cry as we haven't even discussed what the problem is yet. She's right. Again, I've been in this situation before. At the mercy of a busy storage facility. Alia, the adorable gal at the front desk, listens to me, somehow comprehending what I'm trying to say, quietly speaks with her counterpart, after which they make a recommendation that I never would've imagined...EVER!!! IT ACTUALLY MADE IT DOABLE !!!! ALIA then walked me up to guide me through the facility, as it's huge, where she joyfully opens the locker directly across from my overstuffed "closet". Somehow they have completely fixed my issue (for a beyond reasonable price) that will let me continue with the other disasters headed my way. Storage not being one of them. I could not be more thrilled and I so appreciate their caring for me the way they did. I didn't feel ignored, blown off, shafted, oh yeah, and IGNORED because I have very, very, very blonde hair OK it's white and I'm old... 70+ So those feelings mentioned above are not so unusual... unfortunately. I read other reviews, but still proceeded to this location. I should have stayed away. I needed a 5x5 locker. They offered a fair price @ 105. No " 1st month free". I told them in person that i do not want or accept auto pay. They confirmed to my face twice that i am not on auto pay, as they have no card on file. Today, on my 3rd month due, they took my money without my permossion. On top of this, they are now gouging me to 168 per month. I negotiated down to 128 per month. Im leaving asap. You should too, or get ready to pay way more up the a$$ read more

STOLEN BELONGINGS. We accidentally left some items in the interior hallway. we called just before closing and I spoke with the manager. She was actually locking up the building while on the phone and gave a description of the stuff. i asked her if she could keep it in the office overnight. she said no but said they would be here in the morning. she suggested we come at 930am. we came at 11:30 and sure enough they were stolen. she was quite snarky and said we should've come at opening. she said we couldn't view the video and that she could only show it to the police. so now we have to file a police report and we all know how efficient LAPD is. horrible. people like the manager and thief should care rather than condemn and steal. whoever uses our rug and baskets etc have their own karma coming to them. read more

I love this particular location. They have been so accommodating, kind, and very professional and friendly. I just moved to the area and had to find a very small unit local. I have a large unit almost 45 miles away. That company is outrageously priced. This Extra Storage was the only company that had such great deals. I called and visited almost all storage facilities within a 10 mile radius, some were in very bad shape as well. Even those were double the price. Got great service from Patrick recently at the Culver City location -- he was very helpful & informative. A previous rep did NOT offer any extra info that we didn't ask about, so when we asked him to hold a unit for us, we assumed the price was going to be what we viewed it at -- nope. When we came back a few days later to get the unit, the price had gone way back up. Luckily Patrick was there this time & said he'd keep an eye on the price & let us know if/when the price came back down & he did! He also realized that I qualified for a senior discount (I didn't ask, he just saw my birthdate - ouch!) & made sure the prices worked out right. I feel we were very well taken care of by Patrick & thank him immensely for his attentiveness & for saving us quite a bit of $$!! read more

This place doesn't care about their customers at all. First they dramatically cut their hours of operation and close even earlier than what they post. They close at 4pm on Sunday, but they start turning people away at 3:45 pm. Now they've raised my storage fee by 43%. Why? The reason I was told was because they "haven't raised it in a while because of COVID". Wow. The real reason is because once I give my notice and move out they can now charge $5 more than what they were going to charge me. I'm done with Extra Storage. Good riddance. read more

The management here are VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. When questioned about their actions, there is always a sarcastic response. When individuals trust you with their personal items, and choose to do business with you when they can go elsewhere, there should be professionalism displayed. This facility has had a "temporary hours" sign posted for two weeks now. No contact from the facility or headquarters explaining this. Upon renting the unit, I was told my items could be accessed by me anytime between the hours of 6AM-10PM. I attempted to visit the facility this morning before work and the same signs are posted. When I phoned in asked why, the manager was really rude and condescending. He stated (when I questioned the hours being in the contract when I signed up) "Show me in the contract where it says that. It's not written, we just say that." I then reiterated that the hours are posted 6AM-10PM. Why is the gate to the facility opened but I cannot access my items? The conversation continued but he made me so angry, I yelled at him that I no longer wanted to speak to him because he lacked professionalism and I want someone who is more professional and can speak to me with common decency to call me regarding my concern. I'm not interested in packing up my things and moving them. I should receive excellent customer service here. Telling me that no one called because they were testing something out, is not an appropriate response. As I stated, I rented this space with the understanding that I'd have access to my items from 6AM-10PM. If that has changed, the professional thing to do is inform me in writing. If I were late with a payment, they'd reach out in writing. Keep that same energy when you're late allowing me access to my items. If you're the business owner, DO NOT RESPOND to me with a generic response. Respond stating why you did not contact me regarding this matter. Respond with why you've hired unprofessional individuals to manage the property. This is not my first issue with thus location. I've had a storage unit get for 10 plus years. I'm tired of the unprofessionalism. DO BETTER. Update: 11/02/21 The GENERIC response below from the company is indicative of their professionalism; lack thereof.
