December 30, 2024 I received this injury due to this protruding foot-long piece of metal Sticking from the wall around a blind corner. I asked for a Band-Aid in the front office, and was scoffed at. "We don't give customers bandaids. Do you think we're a Pharmacy?" I had to go to the emergency room, Had to get a tetanus shot, Had to go on antibiotics, missed two weeks of work, and now six weeks later have a lifelong scar. Extra Space storage? I have no idea how this place has high reviews. It seemed clean/well maintained when I moved my stuff in. I had my stuff in the unit for 18 months. I came to move my stuff out last week and the movers discovered the back corner was infested by moths/moth larvae. Right away I went to inform management, thinking they would think this is a serious issue. The management has been completely unresponsive/unapologetic. They seemed completely unfazed...they weren't in a rush to call pest control....seeing how they've responded no wonder it became infested. Shouldn't they be worried about the pests spreading??? Avoid at All Costs -- Disastrous Experience I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with this storage company was so terrible that I feel obligated to warn others. First, our unit flooded, causing thousands of dollars in property damage. Then, after relocating us to a new unit, they failed to update their system, which led to a billing nightmare. Despite having paid in full and vacated the flooded unit, they never closed out the contract -- and eventually sent it to collections. Since then, it's been a nonstop headache trying to get anyone to take responsibility or even provide basic information. Communication has been abysmal, and resolution has felt impossible. Under no circumstances would I ever use this company again. Stay far away. read more

I rented a unit when it was a brand new Storquest. The facilities are fine and mostly new, but after Extra Storage took over, they jacked up the prices without notice. I called and got the rate a bit lower, but it seems like there isn't really a rule, they up the price whenever they feel like, which is leading to mostly neutral to negative reviews here. Just be aware if you are storing things long term. There is usually a security but not always. It's not in the best part of town, so homeless people do wander in and out of building. I haven't had issues with breakins or anything of the sort. There are limited hours where you can access the storage, which can be a bit annoying. I'm moving out soon, but I wish they were more transparent about pricing. read more

Updating this to further indicate this trash company. Roaches, spiders, lies about climate control. They lied and charged my card earlier than due date. Literally have proof from bank with dates and they just continue to "deny ". I was never sent a contract by mail or email. No knowledge of a late fee being a percentage of price. Since they have been here I've had my auto pay canceled and then constant issues to have my card saved which then leads to late fees. Every month there's an issue and initially I liked Rosa but she has turned into the absolute worse person to interact with. Their systems were down and I had movers which is expensive. It took 30-45 min to get a code that actually worked which cut into my move time. They lied telling me the whole ordeal was 6 min. I rented a storage unit in December, as I was moving to a different apartment; it's a bit further from my current apartment than I'd like, but one of the cheapest rates in the area at the time. So far so good; I've previously had good experiences with a Public Storage unit I rented for 2 years in the past. I did notice that most of the storage units at this ExtraSpace were empty; seems like occupancy rates are low. 3 months later, in March, they notified me that they would be jacking up the price 33% for "market adjustment", from $76 to $101. I checked the prices for other rental storage units in the area- and they're LOWER than the prices back in December. I would literally save $20/month if I switched to a nearby 5x5 SecureSpace ($56/month) or Public Storage ($68/month) storage unit. Not only is this a underhanded way to do business (jacking up the price right after I move in), it's just stupidly shooting yourself in your own foot. I wasn't really paying attention to the price of the storage unit market- after all, a storage unit is supposed to be "move it and forget it", but now that you're forcing me to check on the storage unit market, why would you claim "market conditions" for raising the rent when the market prices are DROPPING? Even funnier: there are LARGER 5x8 storage units available AT THE SAME LOCATION online at a CHEAPER $89 price (than the jacked up $101 price) that they're offering me. I can literally rent out that unit, move my stuff over (without even borrowing a truck), and save money. read more

I have been renting a unit on this facility for about two months. There are constant issues with the main gate and the restrooms on the main building are always "out of order" Those points one can easily deal with, but today I mistakenly forgot one item of mine on the parking lot. Within 15 minutes of me leaving, they called me to inform that the item had been disposed and they had a disposal charge. I didn't mean to leave this to be disposal. It was a genuine mistake. If they had the time to call me within 15 minutes to tell me that my item had been disposed, why didn't they have the time to check with me if I have the intention of picking this up before being disposed? I understand they have many other things to attend, however, again, if they have the time to notify one thing with the nastiest attitude and tone, why don't they have the time to notify the other as a courtesy for somebody paying a rent on this facility? I had a really excellent experience coming to this storage. We arrived on the weekend and we found the placed staffed with only a single individual, her name is Rosa. And even though she was up to her eyeballs in things to do I found her service very thorough and professional. They have trained her very well, hats off to the management. She was able to do our transfer from another extra space storage to this one seamlessly. Besides the garage door it hasn't work since like two months ago and they don't care for the inconvenience because you can't storage big items that won't go true the regular side door. It really takes a lot for me to actually physically decide to write a review about a company or business. But this place is extra special when it comes to being passive, aggressive, stupid, petty, and ridiculous with the metrics that they use to calculate storage unit space pricing before extra space storage Came into the picture. This building was owned by StorQuest. It's one of the newer storage spaces within the downtown Los Angeles area or should I say near the downtown Los Angeles area. I picked this storage unit because it was across the street from my building. super convenient. Super great idea at the time, I went yesterday to my storage unit and discovered that there was a smell coming from my unit. It smelled like a dead rodent. I then proceeded downstairs to the office to tell someone about my findings only to discover that not only I didn't have insurance on my unit (as they promised during the takeover process) any longer but they were intending on going up on my rent $100 without even telling. When this company took over StorQuest clients, they tried to distance themselves and not take accountability with regard to the business of assuming the clients of storage quest storage. My girlfriend had a horrible experience as well, which was separate from mine, and I tried to keep a calm head and say well maybe that was just her experience, but it was not the truth at all, I even discovered that my own apartment complex had a meeting with city officials with regards to a transient that decided to make his home outside of that same building, stealing power from them all in process because of their miss management and also allowing him to live inside of a storage unit! Who does that if you are looking for a storage do not I repeat do not go to this company. They will speak to you in a condescending manner that is loaded with sarcasm, pettiness and passive aggressiveness And allow HOMELESS PEOPLE TO LIVE INSIDE OF THE UNITS!!! The hours of operations are silly. They don't give support from a local level. Hidden fees and rate increases. Spoke to the call Center and was quoted $141 for a 10'x10' unit. No leases needed. Sounded good. Went to sign for the unit and of course there's some 'only charged once' fee. Then there's the lock you are forced to buy for $21. I had my own personal lock which I've used on storage units before as well as uhauls and trailers and they wouldn't even let me try it in the unit to see if it fit. I'm certain it would have worked. Then the cherry on top.. they were so busy telling me the they don't need leases that they forgot to tell me (luckily I thought to ask) that they raise the monthly rate by 20% every 3 months. So my rate of $141 for the first months came out to over $200 with a 20% increase quarterly. I did not sign, took my lock and have gone elsewhere read more

I was never notified of a rent increase due to an error in my address. I came into the office and they agreed to refund the extra charge. We had a face to face conversation and agreement on this. A week later I see that I did not get the agreed to refund and called. I was notified then that they considered it to be my fault I had not been notified because I was responsible for the erroneous address in their system. I was never an extra space storage customer but was with storquest who sold the property to extra space. It's a dishonest business practice and it's disappointing to be treated so poorly. Note that there is no email or other notification of the rental increases. The intention is clearly to catch customers off guard and spring the increase on them. In this case the increase was 16%. read more

i rented a space here. the facility is fine, lower teir than public storage or trojan but still nicer than some off brand spots. I got quoted $140/month for a 10x10, 2 people in person and 1 person on the phone all said this was the permanent rent, not a promotional price. They charged me and then AFTER they charged me they had me sign the lease saying it was a promotional price and it would change 'soon' or in 'a few months' to a different rent but they could not tell me the price. read more

My card was stolen and I had to get a replacement while I was out of town for work they gave ten days before cutting the lock to my unit. They upped the price ridiculously a few months after renting the space go to public storage. They wont even text you or leave a voicemail about any of this before cutting the lock so you have to magically be available at the address they have on file and not out of the country with a different sim. Even though the sign says open at 8:00am I wait til someone is in the office because it's not safe being alone. They raised the rents after taking over and gradually the homeless moved in too.
