People are very nice and welcoming, the premises is clean The only problem is the unusual heat within the storage areas. It so hot you can't work in there. Plus a lot of things ( except metals) gets ruined after a while. Maybe they can put up some little windows so the place gets aerated. Please do something about it. Run away from this place! Don't even consider renting a unit your belongings will be stolen! I had my unit broken into, the burglar was able to make out the code on the lock. No one knew I had a storage unit, no one knew it even existed. To me it seemed like it was an inside job and funny thing is when they tried to look up the footage surveillance of when the last time I was there, funny thing is that they couldn't "find me". I had thousands of valuables stolen from me and I was only able to get a forth of what was taken. When I filed the police report the officer had told me that break ins are very common at that specific location. So please save your money and take your business elsewhere. Also, when I was moving out my belongings I had ran into another tenant that experienced the same thing, stolen valuables, they were also moving out. read more

People here are very nice. Facilities are clean. The only issue is they keep raising the rates. I was told by an employee "Our business model is for short term rentals only - therefore we will continue to raise our rate to meet demand because unit **** is in demand" So essentially once you pay them for a certain period of time and they have made enough money off you, they will raise your rate continuously until you leave and the new person comes in and pays the "higher rate" Last I checked that is called slum-lord tactics. Here is my history: 2022 $68 2023 $94 2024 $114 (reduced back to $94 due to my complaint) 2025 $120 - new increase. So the strategy is get you in: make the money: get you out with new rate. People are really nice and facilities are clean but business model is somewhat shady. read more

They get you with a low rate initially. After 3 months, expect a 25% increase in your fee, without warning. Move out process leaves me feeling off- why isn't anyone at the front desk, Tuesday, May 28 at 1:00pm, to help confirm move out process/questions. Why is nobody answering phones Wednesday, May 29 at 11:40am. If you can envision the following then you understand the level of customer service you get-- There was a gentleman who saw me walk up to extra space's office to get help with my move out, and asks if I work there. At the same time he is on the phone with someone, purportedly from extra space, who is telling him they won't be in until "1:30pm". All this to say- I moved out- I packed my stuff. Wasn't able to notify anyone so here is my public decree that I have moved out of your smelly, wet, moldy storage units. Don't charge me/update your records. Adios! read more

I had such a great over the phone encounter with Isaac. He called me because my payment was late. I had the easy pay automatic payments but I had an expired card as of last month so my payment didn't go through. I payed online thinking the new card would be enrolled. Turns out it wasn't so I was late again. He was nice enough to take the late fee off this one time since it was past the 10th where they charge you a late fee and I hadn't had one before. I also asked him about other options because my storage has doubled in price and he was nice enough to put in a request to lower my fee. I haven't been working much due to a family illness so every little bit counts and I really appreciate he took the time to try to lower my fee. He didn't have to do that. He was so professional, amicable, & helpful & took great care to fit my requested criteria perfectly! He lives on property so there is 24 hour surveillance here. Hello everyone needing extra storage! I wanted to shout out how impressed I was after many, many, many months going to my storage unit! They had increased the security in two areas!! The gate code was updated and the extra security going into the unit door!! Awesome!! That 2nd layer of security was very appreciated by myself being a woman!!! The storage site was incredibly clean!!! I didn't know what I was going to see when I opened my unit since it had been so long! No silt. Spider webs...bugs!!! Just as I left it when I left it!! When I was leaving Ronny was doing a perimeter check and asked if he could put the dolly away for me! He asked what else he could do to help...I said my monthly rent had increased periodically and I was struggling now. He was going to check with the owner to see if anything could be done. There is a lot of theft at this facility. The Manager is rude. My unit has been robbed. And The manager has not done anything to assist the police with investigation. In fact they asked me to move out! I was told they had many cameras and good surveillance on the property. Then why they have not done anything to identify who did the theft!!?? BEWARE!!! My storage unit at 7471 Warner Ave, Huntington Beach CA 92647 was discovered burglarized back on April 12, 2022 resulting in a loss totaling approximately $10,000. It was determined that my heavy duty Masterlock 80mm disc lock had been picked. I filed a claim and made a police report with HBPD. Dealing with the aftermath was an incredibly difficult, demoralizing and frustrating ordeal for me--so much so that it has taken me 4 months to muster the willpower to bring this matter to your attention. I asked the facility manager why there were no indoor security cameras installed to help deter thefts and provide clearer surveillance video to assist police in catching thieves and she informed me that Extra Space corporate office deemed it unnecessary for that location since there weren't enough formal complaints filed to warrant the extra expense. I found this upsetting to hear and unacceptable. In other words, Extra Space corporation would rather put our valuables at greater risk of theft than to do the responsible thing and install interior security cameras to monitor the hallways! I find this practice grossly negligent and glaringly irresponsible and I am requesting that this issue be escalated to Extra Space corporate offices and have them install interior security cameras at this facility. Unfortunately, until interior cameras are installed I am compelled to leave this location with only 1 star. Storage facilities are very easy and very vulnerable targets for thieves. I discovered several videos on YouTube demonstrating just how easy and fast a lock can be picked using the right tools. In fact, when typing "how to pick a disc lock" on YouTube I found the very same lock I used (Masterlock 80mm) as the 3rd top video that came up, while the Extra Space standard issue lock was 2nd! These videos have been watched thousands of times. It's incredibly distressing to learn that anybody can buy lock pick tools on Amazon and learn to crack open a storage unit in a matter of seconds! This startling realization led me to ask the manager why Extra Space corporate offices have neglected installing interior cameras and her answer was just as disconcerting. She stated it's because the majority of customers who are victims of burglary don't bother to report the matter to police or even file an insurance claim. I can't speak for their reasons, only to speculate that too many people out there get discouraged and frustrated and simply don't want to deal with the extra hassle and I think this problem is a major detriment to the safety and security of everyone needing to use this kind of service. She encouraged me to contact Extra Space corporate offices so that's what I did. This rating does not reflect in any way whatsoever on the truly incredible customer service I have received from Keith over the 8-9 years I've been here. He is an exceptional asset to his company and a wonderful person. I also extend my gratitude and appreciation for the on-site manager I spoke with, though I don't remember her name. Both are truly wonderful employees, but I find the lack of interior cameras here absolutely unacceptable and want that to change as soon as possible. My 1-star rating is directed 100% at Extra Space corporate offices for failing to install indoor cameras. Had there been interior cameras on the premises it's quite possible the crime would never have been committed in the first place. This needs to change! read more

I rented a storage unit. Later that day my cousin (who was listed on my contract as having authorized access to my unit), my aunt, and two missionaries from my church moved my stuff into the unit that evening. 24 hours later I recieved a phone call from the storage facility claiming they had told a person who was moving my property (they didnt specify who) that they weren't allowed on the property. The facility demanded I move all my property out within 24hrs. I spoke to the district manager manny, who was a complete Jerk. Long story short this office doesnt follow the contract terms of notice. THEY LIE ABOUT HAVING TOLD SOMEONE NOT TO BE ON THE PROPERTY. AND THEY KEPT ALL THE MONEY I paid to cover 30days of storage when I only was able to use 3days. THE BRANCH ON MCFADDEN GETS MAD AT CUSTOMERS WHO UTILIZE THEIR FIRST MONTH "FREE" PROMOTION AND CHOOSE TO NOT EXTEND THEIR RENTING BEYOND THAT TIME. Yvette and Rosie are super friendly and helpful. But I signed the contract yesterday at 11am, prepaid for my climate-controlled space for the year, and didn't start moving things today at 3:30pm. Came to find out, the outer gate worked with my code but the climate-controlled building waaaay in the back of the property kept denying my code. So technically, that's one and a half days that I've paid for and don't have access to my space. Waited outside the building, both of us loaded down with stuff, while being on the phone with the front desk to wait for them to resolve the gate code issue in their computer system. Snuck in after some other tenant in order to put stuff down inside my space. 2nd trip same thing. Finally done after 3rd trip from the car before gate issue got resolved. Came here a few weeks ago to get a unit. The rep is very friendly but just be careful of everything they say. She told me the 7x10 unit is $108. I said ok let me reserve. She said great I'll charge ur card to reserve. She said it'll b $185. I was like what?! She did tell me she added insurance, cost of lock n the $20 one time fee. I took off the lock n insurance so it went down to $128. Then I went to the unit and it just looked small so I actually measured it. It was 7x8' (not 7x10). When I let her know she said the units aren't exact. I would understand few inches off but not 2'. They did refund me and I went somewhere else read more

I am writing this review because I met someone who in the course of a conversation mentioned his experience there . So here's mine : About 10 - 15 years ago the manager there , Warren Horsley , kept trying to goad me into snapping back at him . After many , many attempts I finally had a one sentance responce . I did not call him any names or use any profanity or threaten him in any way . But he said that since I yelled back that I was making terrorist threats and he called 911 , locked down the place , and said I was evicted and my stuff , some of it was right outside my unit , was gone . Fortunately , I also called 911 and was able to go back to my unit , put stuff back into it , and was given a week to vacate , which I did . When I complained to the regional manager , all that happened was that they got even more hostile towards me . So basically , Warren instigated a confrontation many times . When he got an ounce of a response , he tried to steal my stuff . I am not the least bit surprised that other people have had this happen to them . I guess I was lucky . read more

I've had a unit here for almost a year now, and have absolutely nothing but a great experience always. Not one complaint at all honestly.. Everyone has always been super friendly; all of the units along with the facility itself is always maintained and clean; the gate hours are reasonable and are open later than most storages around, which is always nice; There's an on site manager 24 hrs, so your unit is always safe; and the prices are by far the best around, as far as the general location. I've had no issues ever, & most definitely recommend extra space. Do NOT come here if you want to be treated with basic respect. I purchased a storage unit online and my husband went to pick it up. The manager, a younger woman (I think named Tetra), was very rude and disrespectful to my him when he entered the office. She barely acknowledged his presence and acted as if it was an inconvenience for her to help him. (Isn't that your job?) Then, she told him to wait so she could help another customer who came in AFTER him because he paid $4k for a larger unit. My husband told her he didn't have all day to wait and she replied rudely and said that she can give him his money back. (We already paid a deposit and money to the auction company so we would have been losing money if he left.) Then, she took her time and he was in the office for almost an hour just to complete some simple paperwork! I honestly think my husband was treated poorly because he is a minority and non-native English speaker. I spoke with someone from the company today and he was very apologetic. I hope my concern gets forwarded to the district manager. This is a terrible way to treat a customer and beyond disgusting behavior! read more
