I was charged $150 for being a month late for a lien fee that I was never told about that. I paid it and I go to my storage. It's been a week later and I'm locked out of my storage. They literally changed my lock never mind it was late a month because my son passed away. So now only did I have to pay late fee for $25 each month. It was only 31 days late. I ended up paying $175 in late fees and I'm still locked out of my unit. I definitely don't recommend this place to anybody. read more

Rats. Rats. And more rats. Went on deployment for over a year to find half of my things had rats living inside. You pay someone more than my car payment per month just to keep your things safe and you can't even rely on that. Store at your own risk! All of your soft winter clothes and comforters and bedding will have rat droppings inside along with some fragrant urine. After 4 months I had a rate increase from $80 to $160 with no notice. I noticed it two months later when I was checking my bills. They were nice enough to lower it back to $128 but right now the same unit is renting for $64 so they will rent to someone else for $64 but to an established customer they just double the rent whenever they want. I would not recommend this to anyone but would tell you to steer clear of the place. read more

We moved in to our unit in June 2021. In July 2021, we received a notice of a rate increase of 28% from $146 to $186. That's within TWO months of our move in. When I called to ask why such a large increase in such a short amount of time, I was rudely told that it was "supply and demand" and that they could have raised it to $225. No thank you - we've moved out. I will NEVER recommend this company. Rather, I recommend people steer clear of Extra Space Storage at all costs. read more
