I had good experience having my possessions for over a year stored in Extra Space Storage. It is well organized and clean place. The stuff was quite on top of everything, they even called me to let me know, that I didn't lock my storage properly, and that I need to come back to do it. Also, when I moved out of the storage, the stuff took care of my automatic payments immediately even without my notification. What I didn't like was the fact, that there is not A/C and it gets pretty warm there in summer. I rented the unit online, so my starting cost was not very high - $63/month, but a year later it was already $81 - for 5x10 feet unit. read more

I have left reviews here on yelp in the past, since I myself like to check the yelp reviews for places and businesses that I plan to go to, but wanted to leave another one again here that I just left on google. I have rented different size units at this facility for many years. Mike, the manager, has always been so nice and cared about the facility looking nice for the customers and I have really appreciated him being there. Now he has Amanda there working with him, so I have been getting to know her more. The last couple of times, she has been the one to help me and I really appreciated all of her help. She is always friendly to me too and I really like that she's always smiling. I'm always concerned when someone else drives in on my code, because of theft, etc., so I talked to Amanda about it, so now she is watching out more for when this happens, which means a lot to me. It makes a difference to me that the people that work there try to make the facility a better place for the people that have trusted the facility with their possessions that are being stored there. Do not rent from these guys. I've been here 4 months and they raised the price 17%! Pretty sure that's more than inflation... But a perfect rate for people to not notice with their auto-pay setup. These people rely on their customers not being willing to move their things out after a fee hike. So do yourself a favor. Don't give them the chance to do you wrong. My unit didn't grow by 17%, so I expect a good reason for the price hike other than "We want more money just because". Guess what. I like free, unearned money too. So does everyone. It must be liberating to just crap on people at will. They also never answer the phone. Is an additional 17% not enough to train their customer service skills to an acceptable level? Call the new customer line, not the existing customer number; 976-NO2U. They like to sign you up but not to help you after. What a surprise. I mean... I also don't like to answer the phone when I don't know who it is, but then again, I'm not a business. I had to drive down there to give them my new credit card number because they just don't like to be interrupted. This is not an isolated incident. Phone calls tend to be answered 50% of the time. My grade school teacher told me that's an " F"; pfft not that I'd know. I even asked the guy why he didn't pick up the phone when i got there. He said he was " busy". Yes he was busy. Busy flirting with the young Hispanic woman that was in there buying boxes. Thank God I didn't have anything better to do than to stand there watching him and his "game" strike out. Thank God for DVR. How does service get so broken? I'm guessing the staff broke into someone's stash of ambien with the multitask skills of Windows 95, and then decided to start a business. What other explanation could there be? If I want to be disrespected and ignored, I can call AT&T or Comcast. Or my ex. Or my mother. How hard is it to provide good customer service when most of you're day consists of sitting and your product is a storage unit? Apparently very. You don't have to flip a burger or blend a smoothy. You don't have to throw your back into digging a trench. You don't have to clear a table or give me the specials of the day. You don't have to risk being stabbed like your local Uber driver. Hell, I won't even demand that you be nice to me, just pick up the frickin' phone. If you want to know what busy is, go checkout the guys that work at In n Out burger. They know how to hustle. They do three things at once all day long. The only hustle Extra Space Storage knows is hustling their customers for an uptick in price. Not even Trump could make this place great again. Although someone should build a wall around Extra Space Storage. A great big beautiful wall with a big door that keeps the ethically challenged inside, and the unsuspecting consumer out. I love walls, and walls love me. But seriously, there are plenty of storage places around who will treat you better. Go there. read more

Smoke and Mirrors. Bait and Switch. I met with Michael in October 2019 for a 5X5 deal at $42 a month. I was asked to write a review that first day. I'm glad I did not. I had three items I wanted to store. I set up autopay. After the 4th month,(February 2020) I received a letter advising me that my rent was going to increase to $48 a month on the next cycle. I visited the office in Concord the next day and was told that my request for review would be responded to in one business day. I waited 4 business days. When I called on the 5th business day, I was told that Jackson had given me wrong information and I should have received word back after a few days. I reminded Michael that this was 5 . He apologized and followed up with the denial of my request to maintain the current rate. I then asked him why the current web price was $40. Michael scripted the corporate lecture on market value versus promotion. When I began to ask an "out of the box" theoretical question, I was abruptly stopped and lectured again on "promo hopping". I then asked when I could cancel my rental. Michael told me 30 days. I told him that would extend me past my next due date. He then realized his error and said only 10 days were necessary. I advised Michael I would be terminating the rental before the next bill. He cancelled my autopay, I think. I can't trust anything they say. I advised Michael that I remembered he had asked me to review their property on the day of my move in. I also advised him that I was glad I did NOT, until today. Do not rent from here unless you can pay well in advance. What Michael doesn't remember was how willing he was to discuss "out of the box" cheats to the system and its benefits on that first day. I should have taken his original advice that day and paid through the rest of the year after the second month to prevent the increase. I was lucky. I only have a couple items in my unit. The poor renters with larger units will be milked by this corporate engine at the expense of moving headaches. I am off to greener pastures. So long money machine. The place is very well-kept and clean. Also seems very secure. Staff was friendly, nice and informative. The "First month free" offer is a bit of a sham. It's only applicable on very select units and locations...none of which are at this location. So don't expect 1 month free. Online prices are better than on location prices, so you have to cross check the quotes using your phone. Expect extra monthly charges for insurance too. I tried to reach them on a Sunday to upgrade our unit, since everything wasn't going to fit into the unit we had rented, and wasn't able to reach anyone which left us in a bit of a bind on moving day. read more

One of the BEST move-ins I've experienced to date. Great location, climate controlled unit, and excellent customer service. This is my second Extra Space Storage rental (in two different cities), and they acknowledged my patronage by giving me a move-in special, and a unit situated close to the first floor for easy moving. To top it off, Allan treated us with such care and professionalism from our inital calls, to the move-in, to follow-up! I was also impressed with the "electronic forms". If you rent at this storage make sure you go online to book their rates. These people charge me over 225.00 for a month of storage space when come to look online it's only 87.00. Supposedly it was supposed to be 170 after the first month free. Idk how it comes out to 225 but it does. Good deal if you book online but don't even think about walking in, & if you're late on your payment they charge you up the ass in late fees. So much for working with you especially when charging me almost 3x the amount of other people. I'll be getting my stuff out by the end of this month and never coming back. Oh & half these reviews are coming from people who just moved their stuff in there. YOU NEED TO READ THIS REVIEW. I'm not a renter from extra space, nor have I ever been. I buy, sell, and trade things I find in storage lockers at auctions (yes like storage wars). Because of this I have been given access at one time or another to just about every storage locker location within the area and have seen it all both the good and bad. This Extra Space location, is by far the cleanest facility that I have ever had to work in. Not once have I had to deal with rodent droppings, roaches, or spiders. The inside units don't even get dusty and the dust on the outside one's is very minimal (from what I have seen). In this business it's kind of a given that you have to deal with everything I mentioned above. Which is why I'm taking the time to write this review, I just bought another unit last week and it had food in it (which is practically a guarantee that I'm gonna be dealing with some kind of bug or rodent poop) and it was 100% clean and clear. I know there is A LOT of places to store your stuff and I'm also well aware that quite a few of those places can be less expensive to rent from. With that said, if you gonna take pride of ownership of your property and use the storage unit as something that your going to want to get into from time to time without making your eyes red from dust or having to deal with some nasty smells or bugs then you owe it to yourself to at the very least check this place out. The reason why it's getting a 4 star is because the back gate has been out service for an insane amount of time. I'm not really sure as to why and at this point I'm starting to think that the owner just doesn't want it used anymore. Which again really doesn't effect my visits, but if I was renting I'm pretty sure it would eventually start to grind on me. (The driving path is a horseshoe that dead ends at that gate and making a 3 point turn in a large vehicle isn't fun.) At any rate, when your looking at units. A few things to consider, the location, the security and overall appearance. This place is a solid 4 on all fronts. You also want to consider customer service, since I don't rent from them I have no idea how good or bad it is, I have never had an issue with them and they have always been friendly. But then again I'm usually only there for 48 hours. On a side note I want to caution ANYONE going for the $1 move in deals that are available at just about every location. IT'S ONLY A $1 FOR THE FIRST MONTH! After that it's gonna cost you dearly (The current price of a 10x10 is in the neighborhood $200/$300 + insurance and other fees). I know that this seem rather obvious but I can not tell you how many times I have seen people get behind on their payments and just can't recover. For the most part if you call them and explain what's going on to the manager they will try to work with you but the money you owe isn't going to go away. Basically if you can't afford the second month you shouldn't be signing up for the first. read more

One of my worst nightmares. Going to get my health again so I can get all my things out. Don't rent here you will regret it. I dropped off my money order in a envelope after hours and someone stoled it and they never did nothing to fix it. When I asked them about the cameras they told me they were not working since 2 months ago. The person in front desk was rude when I was so worried trying to get my Christmas tree and decorations out. I had all my things inside my storage damaged by rats . The service is awful. No cameras and there is so many people jumping over the fence and so dangerous at night.They raise your rent very high every six months no notice. Going to get help to get all my things out after Christmas. Be smart protect your money and belongings. This place will be your worst nightmare. Service is terrible. read more

Not a bad little storage place. Pros: Not too far from the highway, very easy access to units even with larger vans/trucks. Staff is very helpful and always super nice. My unit is inside and upstairs but the elevators are always working, carts are always available and the inside temps (while not air conditioned) are reasonable so it's not a sauna. Cons: Prices were comparable with other storage facilities in the area (around $40 for a 5x7), then the taxes turned it into $45, then 5 months later they raised it to $50 plus taxes. I asked why and they said that it's that way for all big storage companies, they don't lower your rate the longer your stay, they increase it. Why I don't know, but it seemed like too much hassle to move all my stuff to another storage unit so I stayed a few more months. The staff was nice enough to defer it for one month but I still think it's a bogus charge. I've also had some issues with them returning my phone calls, but lots of phone tag ensued and got my questions answered. All in all it's NOT a BAD place by any means, it's newer location anyway, but I do think the pricing could be better as it goes against common sense to "thank" someone for staying with a company by raising their rates. read more

Wow, what a scam! I made an online reservation and it was supposed to be $60 a month for a 5x10 and first month half off. The people at the front desk then told me I have to pay a $20 administrative fee, $7 a month and then take two 5x5's rather than a 5X10. I had all my stuff with me. I told them nowhere in the terms and conditions did it say anything about the $20 admin fee or the two 5x5's. They couldn't find it either. I should have read the yelp reviews. They were absolute jerks! DO NOT USE THIS PLACE They then refused to refund my security deposit even though they would not honor their own contracts. read more

It was easy to rent a space. The price was good but we'll watch for raises. These places typically start raising rates after six months. If they do we'll move. Also during the contract signing process they were somewhat aggressive about purchasing renters insurance through them. Felt like I was renting a car. I would assume the office earns a commission on the policy. They even said they required me to bring my personal insurance policy for them to "keep it on file." Absurd. Didn't do it. read more

Extra Space Storage in Concord was very reasonable for our family's needs. We shopped around to find the best price for the unit size we needed and found it to be here. The facility is very well maintained and clean and there are many carts avl. to load your items onto to take them up to your storage space. Mike was very helpful and friendly and made sure that all of my questions were answered. I would highly recommend this facility where the site manager lives on the property and it looks and feels very secure there :-) read more

I called up and spoke with Mike one afternoon. He was a very friendly guy, and showed me around, answered all my questions and had a storage unit ready in about 15 mins. I am very happy with the customer service, and the facility is well kept. The price is reasonable and the first month was free (except for a small setup fee). Last summer I had to rent a storage closet for my father. Extra Space's rates seemed reasonable, plus the unit had plenty of room for his things. However, the customer service is very much lacking. I went in to pay for the unit, and had to wait ten minutes for the clerk to finish up with the person before me because 'the computer wasn't working.' I understand about computer problems, but the clerk didn't say hey thanks for being patient, but computer is having problems. Then in December the back gate would not open, even when the code was entered several times. I called customer service, no answer. Finally I did get an answer, and they said 'oh, it's not working right now.' A sign would've been perfect. The same thing happened this month. I called several times, no answer. In fact, they never called back. I finally asked a gentleman who worked there, and he said in a dismisive manner: "You could use the front gate. The pad is right there." No apologies, still no sign. Am looking for another place to store my father's things--a little courtesy goes a long way, and they don't have any to begin with. read more

Honestly this place is terrible, hard to find parking hard to find a bottom unit, elevator doesn't always work so then you're screwed. When you bring it up to the manager all they will say is I'm sorry I have no control over that and blow you off. They raise rents every month. Read the fine print this place and the manager is very untrust worthy they tell you what you want to hear and then screw you over again in the end. I asked again and again if I move out I'll only be charged for the time I stayed. She assured me that's how it works until move out time. Then I paid for the whole month and only used the first week. After I rented a storage space I returned to access my space. . To my surprise the keypad approved my entrance but the gate failed to open. .I had a 26'truckgreat to unload and could not. .I phoned the number listed on the gate and they were closed. .I visited the next day and explained the situation to the on site employee. .after he verified what I told him he could not explain why. .I followed his direction to a manager which in turn led me down the no where path. .after upper management reviewed my situation they offered me a $150.00 credit towards a $500.00 loss. .I refused and have filed a small claims case. They obviously don't care or will take the responsibility of their failure. . Beware! read more

It's very disappointing to be penalized for being a long term customer. Short term, is great. Their prices are a bit lower than others nearby which got me in the door. What they don't tell you up front however, is that if you need to store your items for more that 5 or 6 months your rate will go up, and up, and up. Who has the time or the means to move there things again? I feel stuck and taken advantage of. My current rate is $60 more, now than if I were to go in the office today and rent the same unit! I had a ground floor, exterior unit that was clean and dry. The security gates, lighting and cameras were all positives. The monthly rate was very good for the 4 months I was using the unit but I had just received notice the rate was going to be raise. It would still be comparable to other rates I had checked on prior to renting here. When I was moving out, the process was nice and simple, no hassles. read more
