A phone call was made to coordinate a rental. When we showed up we were met and shown our storage space, which was exactly as discussed. The property is clean and feels very safe. The gentleman who met us owns the business. His son serves in the Air Force and is deployed overseas. I'm even happier to utilize a business that supports a military member. read more

After moving to a smaller place, I needed space and time to get situated. I expected to only need a few months. A year later I was done and cleaning up the storage space. Extra Space Storage - specifically, the one in Chadds Ford, made the process easy. I didn't have much contact with anyone because I never had a problem with access or anything. This wasn't my first use of a storage space, but it was my first time at Extra Space Storage. I prefer their climate controlled units over the others I've used in the past. Harry and Nicole saved my bacon and gave me a great rate on a unit I needed to downsize to...which was bigger than hoped for! This saved me from having to shred an inordinate amount of paperwork on this trip! I think this is the gold standard for storage as the place is super clean and Harry and Nicole are kind and Harry had this brilliant idea for the space I needed, saved me 2/3 of the rate I had and I was able to move that same day. I needed space to store some furniture for just one month. This location is easy to access. The property itself is clean and well maintained. The unit rented was clean. It is easy to access any time of day. There is space to get large moving truck in next to rental unit. I won't hesitate to use the location again for any storage unit needs. It took some finessing to get slide bar back and forth to open door which was a little frustrating but I don't think this is that uncommon and therefore does not effect my rating. read more

I am giving this place my first 5 star review and that is due to Harry, the man running the Chadds Ford Extra Space! I dreaded having to put all my beloved "junk" in storage, but Harry made the chore a bit less sad. He was polite, mannerly and I could tell he takes great pride in his job. He has a great sense of humor and he keeps the whole area clean and safe. He was able to answer all my questions and I have no doubt that "all my stuff" is safe in his care! If you need long or short term storage, this is the place to go. It is rare to find someone that puts the customer first and cares about his work, but this man does both. The gate is open every day until 10pm, so getting to my things is never a problem. The units are very clean. I highly recommend it! read more

I can't say enough about this branch of Extra Space. Harry was as professional and friendly as anyone could hope for, and the process could not have been any easier. Paperwork is simplified by the computer system that allows you to initial and sign electronically. A HUGE bonus is the availability of the moving truck at no additional cost. Storage businesses are a dime a dozen. This place is the best by far. read more

This Extra Space Storage location is good, and the inside units are climate-controlled to keep items dry and safe. The most annoying thing though, is that they're not open 24 hrs., so if you need access to your unit during off hours, you'll have to wait 'til the next morning. Also, prices have recently skyrocketed. This is the 2nd price hike in less than 2 years. I'll probably have to change to another company and location, as I don't think I can afford the new prices. These two negatives are the reasons I only gave 3 stars. read more

I've been a customer of the Chadds Ford facility since 2002. I've seen a few managers come and go since then and I have to say that Harry Mahoney is without a doubt the most professional, proficient and helpful manager to date. I had a recent experience with a sprinkler head bursting in the unit I have rented since 2002 and Harry was very accommodating in allowing me the temporary use of another unit to "dry out" my personal effects. His concern, professionalism and accommodation in this situation are greatly appreciated. read more

Seemed OK up front when I rented a unit. Staff was friendly & helpful. But when I went to move stuff into the unit for the first time several weeks later things did not go well. First I could not get past the drive through gate because the code I was given was not recognized by the system. It was Sunday and no one was in the office, so I had to call the Customer Service number. Customer Service does not take calls until 8:00 AM Mountain time, so I had to go back home with my load of stuff and wait. When I was able to get through to Customer Service I learned the office had written the wrong code on the card they gave me. The rep gave me the correct code and I went back. I was able to get through the gate, however when I got to my unit I found a padlock on it (not mine). I called Customer Service again and they told me that if I did not put my own lock on the unit immediately when I rented the unit, the office would put a lock on it to "secure the unit". I have to ask: Secure what exactly about the unit? Was someone going to take the air out of it? That was the only thing in it. Also it might have been a good idea to let me know you were going to put a lock on my unit - that would have been really helpful info. Of course the office was closed on Sunday so there was no one to remove the lock. (FYI - most people move stuff on the weekend - Sunday may not be the best day to be closed) The Customer Service rep told me he left messages for both the Manager and the Assistant Manager for that location instructing them to call me ASAP. No one ever called me. I had a load of stuff I needed to store somewhere so I went up the street to Public Storage, where the office is staffed all weekend, and rented a unit there. The Public Storage rate is a little higher but the unit is actually a lot nicer anyway, and there is someone in the office all weekend if I need assistance. Bye-Bye Extra Space Storage! read more
