My last storage unit was very dark and the lighting system was awful. At DE Storage New Garden, the hallways inside are bright and well-lit at all times. I don't have to worry about using a flashlight inside my unit to see where I am. Instead, there is general light provided by the facility that helps me be more efficient with my time while feeling super safe. Also, the management team is incredibly kind and understanding. Very disappointed with our moving experience with this company. We received an initial quote based…read moreon an in-person assessment of our belongings - the owner came to our home, toured the entire home and provided an estimate. Our final invoice was triple the amount of our original quote. Through no fault of our own - nothing changed on our end from what the move involved; no items were added. Owner offered to move the date up to avoid bad weather, which was appreciated. However, our initial estimate was for 3 hours with a crew of 5. Instead the move consisted of half the crew, and it took about 14 hours across 2 days. My husband had to essentially join the crew just to get through the move. It feels as if a much lower quote was given to secure the job, and we can't help but feel swindled. It's unfortunate because we were hoping to go with the same company for our final move in 6 months, and now that is absolutely not an option. I can understand an estimate being off by a few hours or a few hundred dollars, but for the cost to triple is unacceptable. The move itself was decent enough, just expect it to take 3 times as long, and cost 3 times as much as your initial quote.

If I could give negative stars I would. When we were packing and moving back in July we had to get…read morea storage unit. We had to get the biggest size they had and we needed to get it climate controlled because we had pictures, kids memory boxes, furniture, clothes, leather couches, etc that needed stored and didn't want it ruined. We only planned on having the storage unit for a month or so because it was costing us $140/month. Well we go to get our stuff out of our unit.... There is 3+ inches of sitting water soaking all of our stuff in the unit. All of our stuff not in totes is ruined from water damage or mold. So my husband tells me we didn't get the extra insurance because we only had the unit for like a month. Im like okay, we will eat the loss of all of our stuff (which sucks), but they will at least have to pay us back for the unit. I paid for the unit to store our stuff, which it failed to do, instead it destroyed everything. So I go there this morning to talk to the manager or owner whoever he is to explain the situation and see what we can do. First of all he was a total d#$& right off the bat. Was pretty much like oh that sucks and didn't seem suprised in anyway that the unit was flooded (I'm sure it's not the first time he is hearing the units were flooded). He's not apologetic at all and proceeds to remind me we didn't get insurance so there's nothing that can be done. I was nice at first until he started being a prick. So I tell him I understand we didn't get the extra insurance. I'm not asking you to replace all of our stuff. I just want refunded for the storage unit that flooded and ruined all of our things. He just laughs and says no. He was rude and condescending so I proceeded to tell him about himself and that I wasn't paying for a unit that destroyed all of our shit. So we went back and forth we had some words, I left, he continues with the words, so I go back in and rip him a new one because he deserved it and more. ripping people off. Don't worry I left before I ended up getting arrested! So unless you want all of your things ruined do not use Elkton Storage...this is the place right behind Northside Pharmacy/Romas in Elkton. he was a jerk and obviously knew the units flooded by his reaction then did nothing to try and mend the situation

Our move was from a one-bedroom apartment, and they handled everything seamlessly--even with an elevator at the first location and a tight curvy flight of stairs at the new one. They worked quickly without ever making us feel rushed, and they treated our furniture and boxes with incredible care.
