Main Street Movers sent Alex Della Valle to my house to ensure I received an accurate quote for my…read moremove. Based on his assessment, three men and a 26 foot truck arrived on moving day. What should have been a simple two bedroom condo move took two round trips and 12 exhausting and stressful hours. The cost went from the estimated $2,000 to $3,000. I depended on Alex to know that in order to ensure a smooth move in a timely manner at the price he quoted, he needed to send a larger truck and more men. The three men arrived on time, were hardworking and careful with my belongings. However, during the last few hours, we were all exhausted. In a desperate effort to finish, I had to bring things in myself, and was unable to supervise. This resulted in the second load of boxes in complete disarray and many on the wrong floor of the house. A month later I am still unable to locate important items. When we called Main Street Movers to discuss it, Alex blamed the incompetence of sending too few men and a wrong size truck on their operations department. He denied low balling the estimate. The owners, Karen Mantzouranis and Tom Mantzouranis, refused to get on the phone at all or take any responsibility for our horrendous move. Please be forewarned and do not use Main Street movers.

This was the worst moving experience imaginable and feels like outright sabotage. After 2 previous moves through Ed Scott and besides acknowledging "never seeing anything like this", no accountability! United Van Lines crew intentionally and recklessly tampered with my personally sealed boxes - they cut them open, inserted heavy items like boxes and chairs at the bottom, then resealed them poorly. This caused catastrophic crushing and damage: over 16 garment boxes completely ruined, my wood credenza smashed (slate top shattered), leather bench badly scuffed, and virtually every item in the shipment damaged in some way. This wasn't accidental rough handling - it was purposeful interference with sealed personal property, violating my privacy and trust. They had no right to open or tamper with my sealed boxes. This conduct appears to breach federal transportation regulations criminal mischief under New Jersey law for - purposely or recklessly damaging/tampering with another's property. The financial and emotional toll has been enormous - thousands in ruined clothing, furniture, and irreplaceable items. Their claims process? A joke - $150 on almost $20K of damage that doesn't come close to covering the destruction they caused. Do NOT use Liberty/United Van Lines. They destroy belongings, invade privacy, and leave customers devastated.

There seems to be a high pressure culture for the crews to get online reviews. The team lead repeatedly asked me to post 5 star reviews before the job was done. When one of our friends posted a 4 star review, the team lead would not let up until it was corrected to a 5 star review. He said he would be fired if the 4 star review remained online. It created an uncomfortable tension during an already stressful move. I am grateful for their good hard work, but I would prefer to post a review because of the quality of service, not because I feel pressured to in the moment. The crews should be allowed to do their job without worrying about how many 5 star reviews they can get from the customer.

On moving day, our foreman Mr. Stone was absolutely incredible--reassuring, professional, precise, and knowledgeable. He wouldn't let us lift a finger! His 4-man team powered through our challenging 3rd-floor walk-up with impressive strength and skill, handling every obstacle with ease. They went the extra mile, and we appreciate it. Amazing. They rented our unit out with their spare key before we finished with it. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, we still aren't sure if we had anything left in the unit and we will never know now.
