As a business owner who operates in 2024 it seems rather interesting that your associates are very equipped to handle transactions but none of them can handle a refund? It's a shame because they're 6 minutes from my house and I just won't be using them in the future if none of their staff have the confidence to refund my money. We signed a paper contract when they dropped off the unit, although I don't really remember signing a contract. But then 3.5 years later, they sent us a digital contract and asked us to sign it. But because I don't remember the paper contract, I refused to sign the digital contract. Even though we were paying every month on time for the last four years, they refused to give us one more month with the unit because we refused to sign the contract. Additionally, after returning the unit, my credit card was charged two months in a row, and I had to call the company to get a refund on my credit card. I would recommend the business because the delivery and pickup of the unit was simple. But everything else involved with renting this unit, I don't recommend.

Stay away!! Where do…read moreI start? When I signed up for a locker I was told my rent would start on the 1st of each month. When I went to pay they insisted that I would lose my locker if I didn't pay on the day I was there making my rent due on the 20th instead of the 1st which caused me to be late monthly. THEN after about a year, I went there to pick up an item and found that the lock hasp had been hack-sawed. I contacted the management and they informed me that it was like that when I moved in - IT WAS NOT. I went back the following week, more saw marks, dents in the door and the hasp had been pried and actually had pulled one of the bolts through the metal. STILL nothing was done. I purchased a new hasp on my own from an online distributor and got the wrong one so I had to purchase another ($40 total for both). Now the door only opens 1/2 way because I had to put large washers on to hold the hasp in place. On to the next rant...Elevator was out of service for close to a year. They'd like you to believe that there are security cameras BUT they are only located at the elevators giving crooks plenty of time to saw your hasp off. Did I mention that there are people living in the storage units? There was an occasion I went to get a few items and a woman was doing her laundry in the restroom AND using 2 carts. I said something about it to the attendant who told me that as long as her cube was paid that there was nothing he could do. There's very little lighting in the unit, so I brought in a drop light so I could see what I was doing while getting things out. Recently the decided to remove all the outlets so now I have to use a flashlight. There seldom are carts available so if you need a cart, bring your own. The only good thing I can say is the staff are polite and professional.

Next, we repeatedly found ourselves waiting for staff more than once. The day we checked in, we waited for a staff member to return from lunch for over 45 minutes. The following day, we returned with a moving crew and waited over 30 minutes for the building itself to open. We arrived at 10, and left at 10:45, while the building was meant to open at 9:30. All this being said fails even to mention that the facility itself is nowhere near as clean as nearby competitors and we were shocked to find our unit with preexisting trash in it. My entire unit was completely destroyed by a massive vermin infestation through absolutely no fault of my own. To make matters worse, Public Storage engages in highly deceptive practices. They have a sign proudly displayed in the leasing office advertising insurance coverage limits of $2,500/$5,000 through Orange Door, and staff verbally assured me I was protected. Now that my items are ruined, they are trying to hide behind a buried clause that caps vermin damage at a measly $250. It is insulting and completely unethical. Management utterly failed to maintain a clean, safe building. Safe your money and your belongings--go anywhere else.

I don't think waiting 5 minutes for a prospective customer with an appointment is a reason to disappear. I had received several gushy emails from a manager there about how thrilled they were to give a tour and earn my business. I waited 20 minutes and no one showed. The "customer service number" on the door was an automated line for customers but no option for reaching an operator. Oddly, I called the corporate office which insisted there was no Public Storage facility at 2600 N Charles -- I repeated several times that I was standing outside its office door. After a few minutes, the representative "found it," but didn't apologize for the delay, the hassle, or her own confusion. Of course, I'll seek storage elsewhere -- how can my stuff be secure when the facility and corporate are so confused and flakey?
