I had put a post on reddit asking for suggestions for movers in the area and Bookstore Movers was…read morerecommended by almost every person who responded. Patrick and his crew, Renaldo, Nitua, Gerand and Kevin, exceeded the already high expectations I had based upon the reviews. I will happily recommend Bookstore to family and friends and will never use another moving company. Their strength, kindness, commitment and pride in their job and the company, organization, efficiency as a crew (this was amazing to watch- they just flowed as a team of 5 and Patrick was an excellent leader!), was consitent and apparent throughout the entire time they spent with us. I really can't say enough good things about the experience and hope to work with them again when we hopefully buy a place and move in the next couple of years. The price was also incredibly fair, worth every penny for their first-rate and professional work and incredibly pleasant dispositions, just a really great group of guys!

I moved this past weekend and hired Bookstore Movers for the job. I can honestly say I was blown…read moreaway by the professionalism, efficiency, and expertise of the moving crew. I worked with a different moving company 2 years ago that left me scarred for life with how rude and unprofessional they were. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

Stay away!! Where do…read moreI start? When I signed up for a locker I was told my rent would start on the 1st of each month. When I went to pay they insisted that I would lose my locker if I didn't pay on the day I was there making my rent due on the 20th instead of the 1st which caused me to be late monthly. THEN after about a year, I went there to pick up an item and found that the lock hasp had been hack-sawed. I contacted the management and they informed me that it was like that when I moved in - IT WAS NOT. I went back the following week, more saw marks, dents in the door and the hasp had been pried and actually had pulled one of the bolts through the metal. STILL nothing was done. I purchased a new hasp on my own from an online distributor and got the wrong one so I had to purchase another ($40 total for both). Now the door only opens 1/2 way because I had to put large washers on to hold the hasp in place. On to the next rant...Elevator was out of service for close to a year. They'd like you to believe that there are security cameras BUT they are only located at the elevators giving crooks plenty of time to saw your hasp off. Did I mention that there are people living in the storage units? There was an occasion I went to get a few items and a woman was doing her laundry in the restroom AND using 2 carts. I said something about it to the attendant who told me that as long as her cube was paid that there was nothing he could do. There's very little lighting in the unit, so I brought in a drop light so I could see what I was doing while getting things out. Recently the decided to remove all the outlets so now I have to use a flashlight. There seldom are carts available so if you need a cart, bring your own. The only good thing I can say is the staff are polite and professional.

We booked with this location of CubeSmart looking to store some things for the summer. From the…read morebeginning, the staff assured us that the 10x10 would be enough for our home's worth of stuff, which it wouldn't. Next, we repeatedly found ourselves waiting for staff more than once. The day we checked in, we waited for a staff member to return from lunch for over 45 minutes. The following day, we returned with a moving crew and waited over 30 minutes for the building itself to open. We arrived at 10, and left at 10:45, while the building was meant to open at 9:30. All this being said fails even to mention that the facility itself is nowhere near as clean as nearby competitors and we were shocked to find our unit with preexisting trash in it. Look anywhere else before you look here.

I…read moredon't have to come often thank goodness because I live 1.5 away but it seems like if the guy Damien isn't here there's always something afoot. I got here at 9:05 to move things into my unit and no one is here. After contacting customer service I was informed that the office doesn't open until 9:30 ... ok no problem. So why is it 10:00 and there's still no one in the office. If the trolleys for transporting items are going to be locked up then someone needs to be here to unlock it when the office opens. I've been on hold for customer service for 15 minutes ... just ridiculous. It's now 10:20 and the customer service rep is telling me the property manager is working remotely ... due to respecting privacy I'm not going to take a photo of the employees car that I'm parked right next to ... I'm not a new customer I know what the employees car that lives upstairs looks like. I'm so annoyed. I really need find the time to get a new storage company especially considering the fact that my monthly cost increases without notice seemingly every 3-6 months. At 10:30 the customer service supervisor is now telling me that they don't have to provide moving trolleys so it doesn't matter that it's locked up and if I want someone to be available at the property I'm supposed to make an appointment! Just be warned of what you're getting yourself into and don't let the first month free reel you in, they get that money back 10 fold once they start on the monthly fee increases.

Yelp has made this difficult to do. But I am always up for a rewrite…read more Storage businesses often benefit from the struggles of the people who use them. Many people store their belongings for joyous reasons, happy relocations, marriages and couplings. But just as many people need these spaces because they are going through trauma or loss. People lose loved ones and homes. They are often in transition. My disabled, senior brother is one of those people. He is going through a lot of changes right now. I am assisting him through these changes. In the middle of his struggles- not the least of which is aging and dealing with chronic, intense pain- I was helping him on the phone while he was conscientiously organizing his space. He never complained to management about the pregnant roach he saw crawling in the space (he is a very tidy person). Nevertheless, as I was coaching him on his navigation through stress, one of the managers of the space accosted him. He had his storage door halfway down as he was obtaining his things. This woman, from out of the blue, rips open his storage door without knocking. Highly emotion, firing what had to be misplaced anger about other things- she hurls invectives at him. She starts, apropos of nothing, berates him about God knows what - for sitting down?? He was sitting down in the space because his back and leg were in a horrific amount of pain. He told them, when he rented the space, that he would be moving slowly and needing to sit because of his disability. Businesses that trek in consumers' traumas often attract narcissists and people who like to lord their illusions of power over vulnerable folks who pay their last dime to store their stuff. Over the course of the next several days, my brother contacted the corporate. THEY ADMITTED TO HIM ON THE PHONE THAT THE EXTRA SPACE STORAGE WAS AT FAULT. This unstable manager person, in retaliation, proceeds to harass him in every way she can by 1) putting a lock on his things 2) giving him thirty days notice to remove his things from storage. He called the police, he called corporate and I called corporate. My brother witnessed this same unstable manager person verbally berate a young woman in a hajib who was standing silently by trying to access her storage. Then Corporate reneged on its original admission of culpability, no doubt swayed by the harangues of this horrible, abusive, inappropriate and unprofessional employee. So now my brother, on top of everything else, is going on a roller coaster of conflicting, exploitative responses. He paid his money for the storage up front. He is tidy and polite. He was so prepared to give this place star ratings because the other employees were fine. Do not go to Extra Space Storage. Indeed, boycott the places. It does not have consumers' best interest at heart.
