Exterior Medics has been fantastic in every way. We had a smell coming from somewhere in our office we couldn't quite identify. Some days were worse than others. Exterior Medics quickly diagnosed the problem as mold in our windows. Yuck! They worked with our office condo management company to fix the problem, which was incredibly helpful. They dealt directly with the management company, taking the hassle off of us during our busiest season of the year. EM is highly customer-focused and easy to work with. I had damage to my home from a recent storm. I saw some water leaking from an upstairs AC vent, a set of shutters torn off and siding damage. I immediately started to call around for a contractor. I had several companies come out and give me a quote. As it turns out I had roof damage causing the upstairs leak. One of the contractors I called did not show up, another quoted a price well into the thousands of dollars and several others said that they would not be able to get to me until the following week. Joe from Exterior Medics was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and his price was very competitive. I decided to use his company. Needless to say I was very impressed. His crew was out to my house the same day, completed the job quickly without making a mess or disturbing my family. Competent inspectors and production team. Did an outstanding inspection and seemed to have done an excellent work on my roof as well. They did damage a couple of my window screens when throwing old materials down from the roof, but the screens were replaced free of charge. Great customer service people that were helpful and patient to my concerns. Salesperson did some great presentations but were a little pushy and frankly too inexperienced in the industry to make customized recommendations. Project management was chaotic and inefficient. Waited ~3 weeks (with multiple phone calls in between) only to be notified in less than 24 hours before the project started. After about 90% of the contract were done, I started to get emails from the project manager claiming that the project was 'completed'. Took quite a few communications and follow-up appointments to ensure they fulfilled the project verbatim. Even then, a couple of my 'comments' which were technically not part of the contract were never handled. The whole process felt unnecessarily lengthy and more exhausting than I expected. read more

I ignored the bad reviews that were based on just the inspection/consultation. How I wish I hadn't. If nothing goes wrong in your project this company will be fine - the work seems decent and the actual product (which is from another company) is great. As soon as something went wrong it became my problem and, when I was eventually able to get in contact with someone, they immediately said that it's my fault for not bringing up concerns earlier in the process. I didn't have enough knowledge of what I was ordering to bring up this particular problem, instead trusting the "experts" to tell me if something would be significantly different than I'm used to. In short, avoid them. Because if something goes wrong they will essentially just shrug and say "oh well". read more

We had multiple problems with their roof installation and called them back. They came out twice but fixed nothing. In a huge rainstorm, we came home from a trip to find gutters overflowing; the window wells in the basement were filled with water and the windows ready to burst and flood the basement. We worked in the downpour to create a channel for water to flow away from the house. Later we called another company who came out and found a huge ball of EM shingle wrapping and duct tape in the gutters plugging up the downspout. Exterior Medics should never have been left it there at installation and they certainly should have found it on one of their "problem solving" trips here. read more

We had gotten into our house into a rough situation with a previous contractor. We called a few different companies that came out to give an estimate and wouldn't even touch it, because they were too busy trying to just sell out of the box windows and siding. Tom at Exterior Medics really listened to what we were looking for and needed. They had to undo most of the previously performed work and rebuild. The estimate included absolutely everything and they were able to rebuild our roof and tear down all the old siding and put up HardiPlank in just a few weeks. It was a huge relief. We really felt like they made us a priority. Our basement windows wound up on backorder and took a good bit longer. But the entire process was handled professionally. They called us every day or two and always picked up or returned calls we made. It was pretty much the opposite of any previous experiences we've had with contractors. I used Exterior Medics for an extensive repair of my cedar shake roof and some small repairs on the chimney. They handled all aspects of the transaction in an organized and professional manner -- from estimating to clean-up and final billing. While I have not climbed up on the roof to look closely at the workmanship, it looks fine from the ground. Cedar shake roofs are a bit of a specialty area within the general roofing biz, and this company has the necessary expertise. I couldn't draw any conclusions on how they rate in terms of competitive pricing. This project was pretty expensive. If you have a major cedar shake roofing project I would recommend that you get a few bids, but definitely include one from Exterior Medics. read more

If I could give them a negative star i would. They tried to charge me $1000 for replacing two shingles! What a croc of crap! Then they tried to tell me my deposit was not refundable when they never even scheduled a time to perform the work! Luckily they didn't charge me, I notified my credit card company and had them issue a new card. Exterior medics said eh we can maybe do the 1-2 weeks, whenever there is a crew in your area with no frim date...after I gave them the deposit! SPRINT! Don't run don't walk....SPRINT away from this company as fast as you can! I had a handy man come and do it and it took him 2 hours plus materials...grand total $200 bucks for two shingles to be repaired....not $1000. Also, because I posted a negative review. Mark the Vice President has blown up my phone, and sent me many messages on yelp. Including messages that imply that I am a liar.(This is the impeccable customer service of Exterior Medics) I tried to call him back three times, and twice his staff failed to transfer me to him, because I was disconnected/hung up on, then when I called his cell I got no answer. Despite this, he still believes that I owe it to him to give him an explanation. I don't. He also is apparently a stalker because he says that the same work that was done was not the same as what he would have done. What did he do? Come to my house while I wasn't home? Climb up a ladder and physically inspect it without my knowledge?!! Kinda stalkerish sounding if you ask me..... If you do not believe me, send me a PM. I have all the e-mails he has sent me and will freely give them to you, so that you can decide for yourself on whether or not to proceed with dealing with this company. I am writing this review because I would not tell my worst enemy to deal with this company, because they are that bad. Bad at everything, from trying to gouge you on cost, and then trying to get you to put a "deposit" down that they say is a "contract" but yet the contract doesn't state, when or if ever they will perform the work. How they consider this a "contract" I will never know. Mark states that "His company has an impeccable record" well ask yourself if they have such an impeccable record then why is there another bad yelp review? If they have such impeccable service then why wouldn't those customers be raving about them on here??????? Ask yourselves this question before calling them, do you want to have the same experience I did with them? Or even have the chance that you might have the same bad experience? Or would you rather go to someone on yelp who has better reviews? As always this is just my opinion and two cents, you are all free to make your own decisions. WORST experience with a business I've ever had. Exterior Medics (including Derek) tried to scare me into replacing entire roof when all I asked for were new gutters. New gutters installed and did not work, Exterior medics refused to make them work, again pressuring me to replace entire roof. Ridiculous, unscrupulous. I couldn't talk them into making the gutters they installed function. They wouldn't stand behind their work and I will never deal with them. The public needs to know this. The communication and process by which they consulted, scheduled and implemented my 3 separate roofing jobs was wonderful. I always felt in the loop and confident I could reach someone at any time if I had a question or comment. The townhouse I live in has a specialized flat roof design that Exterior Medics has mastered. They were able to totally redo the roofing on my roof-top deck with improved pitch and more efficient drainage; they also replaced moldings that were rotting and old; at the same time, they made efforts and succeeded in reusing the original trek deck planks which saved me money. We had Exterior Medics do a lot of work on the outside of our house: siding, stone, insulation, and enlarging windows and doorways, and working with a very difficult third-party sub-contractor for our custom glass door. They did an awesome job and were extremely attentive, clean and courteous. Also very responsive with some follow-up work. Our job was not an easy one, and several other contractors passed on quoting us because they didn't want the hassle. Totally their loss, this was a big job. When no one else would step forward to give an estimate for roofing repairs on our short-sale, this company acted quickly (on a weekend) and accurately in coordinating with the sales agent and the mortgage company to ensure all our paperwork and service was complete. Further, when an unexpected construction requirement was needed to close on the home, they were nimble and connected enough to bring in another contractor with the needed expertise to complete the job. In addition to ensuring the work was done on time and on budget, when unexpected conditions arose in the home (post repairs), Exterior Medics brought in even more contractors to assist with resolving the issue. They even stepped forward with their own time and material to ensure the home was livable and safe. The quality and integrity of this group emanates from its leadership. They follow through on what they commit to, they won't oversell any product, they are honest, and work with the greatest effort to ensure the customer is satisfied. I had EM do a $100,000 repair job on my house after a micro burst destroyed my roof and screened porch. Their site foreman was excellent, but was assigned to work on several projects at the same time. Less mistakes would have been made if he had been on site for a greater percentage of time. I'm not usually one to write reviews, but my experience with this company was so disappointing, I wanted to share so other shoppers could be wary. I called Exterior Medics at the peak of summer, and agreed to wait 3-4 weeks for an appointment to get one of the best companies in the county. Our inspector was very professional and made us feel like we were in good hands. He was cautious to diagnose the case of our roof leak and wanted to consult his team before drafting a proposal. He told us to expect the proposal within the next half week. Once a week passed without any communication, I emailed him. I received the proposal the next day with apologies that it was late due to a busy schedule. (Totally understandable) I noticed that the estimate listed what they planned to do and cost, but no mention of cause which is needed for insurance purposes. I emailed him asking about the cause, but no response. Since then, I have called to leave voice messages and texted (all forms of communication he offered), but no response. It's been a month since our appointment with no response or apologies from the company. I'm incredibly disappointed with how they have handled our service, and do not recommend them. read more

I received the estimate and was really disappointed. I told them I wanted some siding fixed and they gave me an estimate for a new roof. I wanted shutters and they gave me an estimate for $750 a pair. Shutters cost $62 a pair at Home Depot. WTF. Typo? I am really not sure. I asked them several times if my job is too small just let me know. but they didn't. After a full week I was just sent a nonresponsive estimate. What a shame. I had money to spend. read more

These guys did a fantastic job with my roof install. They were accommodating to my schedule, worked very quickly, had the best prices after taking quality of work into account, answered all of my questions with in-depth responses, gave me the pros and cons of certain aspects of the install, were very professional and detail-oriented, and an overall delight to deal with. The reason I cannot give them 5 stars is because there was a portion of my roof that wasn't installed correctly, but they came out and fixed it immediately and stood by their work. This is a long, rather complicated review. It is the third one I have written on Exterior Medics. The deck over one of the upstairs bedroom leaked terribly. EM diagnosed the problem as a rip in the membrane covering the deck. The problem initially appeared to be solved. I wrote the first review. It was favorable 4 - stars. Would have been 5 if not for the price and schedule. When the leaking continued, I called EM and they promptly sent a tech out to investigate. After two trips by the EM tech, they still could not diagnose the problem, prompting me to write a 1-star review. To their credit, EM's owner contacted me and said that he would personally oversee the issue. Joe had his team open the ceiling in the room below the deck and discovered excessive rot and mold. EM discovered also that there was a problem with the flashing on the walls surrounding the deck which allowed water into the room below. The only way to resolve the problem would be to do a total rebuild of the deck. EM replaced the walls, the beams and plywood, the membrane. They raised the sliding door out to the deck by several inches , increased the slope of the deck so that water would flow out of the larger scuppers. The deck looks great. I am writing this in the middle of the third rainstorm of the week and everything remains dry. The newly build deck cost $35k - no small amount. This is probably a fair price given the scope of work done to repair the exterior and interior damage; however, had it been done the first time I would have saved a considerable amount of money. I believe the original diagnosis of a torn membrane was incorrect. I also think that the initial work was sub-par given the excessive amount of water that pooled after the job done. This time around, under the supervision of Joe, the quality of the work is outstanding. I believe EM is a quality, company, with people who care about their reputation. Had the problem been correctly diagnosed the first time, I would have had the deck redone initially. The bottom line is, the issue has been corrected and I would recommend Exterior Medics. read more

I had them fix my chimney and they did a great job. Initially, another firm said they would need to rebuild my chimney for several thousand dollars. Exterior medics said that the repairs were far simpler and less extensive than the other contractor said and did the job for far less. I worked with Exterior Medics for a full roof replacement. I was comparing estimates with 3 roofing companies overall, but Exterior Medics was by far the more professional company in all regards. They provided a thorough quote covering all aspects of the job from property protection to final clean up of the job site and warranty on the work that had been done. The work was on estimate, completed on time and the team who completed the job were all quite professional. Actually, the team even showed up with an extra guy or two so the job was completed faster than I was expecting! Super job guys overall! One thing that really clinched the deal for me and showed great professionalism on Ext. Medics part was when they stepped in and helped me out when another company dropped the ball. I was in need of an emergency tarp repair job on my roof as a significant number of shingles had blown away in a prior wind storm and my roof was already leaking into my master bedroom. Another company had said they would come out and do the emergency repair for me as we were expecting a ton of rain that weekend. The other company never showed for their appt. and never even called to say they'd be late or what the reason was that they never arrived. In a panic, and nearly at the end of the business day, I called Mark, one of the company owners of Exterior Medics and explained the situation. He had come out to see my property before and had completed the roofing estimate for me so he knew exactly where to have the crew do the emergency tarp repair. Honest to goodness, within an hour, I had a team on my roof to complete the emergency repair before the rain came and before we ran into a holiday weekend where I would have been out of luck trying to get something done on a holiday Monday. I can't tell you how relieved I was to find a company and an owner, who so valued providing great customer service like that, that I didn't need to look any further for other estimates. And did I mention that even the crew who came to do the emergency tarp repair, after they had just completed their other job and were probably ready to go home on a holiday weekend, showed up at my house and were soooooooo nice about fixing my roof? Why would you work with any other roofing, siding or window replacement company out there? For any of my next home repair jobs that Exterior Medics can do, they'll definitely get my call and many more referrals to boot. Things to be aware of if you hire Exterior Medics: You need to be flexible with your schedule. Originally work on out two doors was supposed to start last Tuesday. My husband contacted them Monday evening to finalize the time that they would be showing up. They promised an email that later than evening with the time. We didn't receive the email. Tuesday at about 0730 we were notified that they would not be showing up because the crew had not finished the job on Monday. They were aware of this but didn't notify us Monday evening. Make sure you confirm that the materials on your quote/contract are the materials that are being used. When they showed up on Thursday, the new appointment, the Crew Leader informed me that they couldn't get the cellular PVC on the quote. He said they didn't make it for my door. They wanted to use a lumber wrapped in PVC. When I called the company to ask why the difference I was told to that the new material was a better product, more costly and that I shouldn't be insistent that the original quoted material be used. I was really losing faith in my decision to hire Exterior Medics. I was called by the owner to assure me that the original materials could be found and would be used. He said he would check back in mid-day and at the end of the job that day. The crew foreman then spent most of Thursday trying to locate the quote materials. The other two guys removed the rotted trim. At the end of Thursday there was trim in place but there major holes, daylight was visible around the doors. Confirm that all work is done. The crew foreman said his team would not be creating the custom piece for above my front door that was another crew's job. When I spoke to Exterior Medics about the material I asked when the other crew would be showing up. I was assured that they were on their way. No crew showed on Thursday. I had not planned on being home on Friday but needed to be for the work to be done. The crew showed up at about 0930 and stayed until about 6pm. My front and basement doors don't latch and though I paid extra for painting, I had been told that it was better to have it painted in the warehouse, my basement door trim isn't painted because they had the wrong paint. They said we wouldn't need to be home for them to finish the painting, just leave the basement door unlatched. Exterior Medics called today at about 1000 to say they were on their way to finish the little bit of paint trim. We informed them of the two doors don't latch. Thankfully I'd taken the day off. So while Exterior Medics came highly recommended I can't say we have had the same experience. read more

I contracted with Exterior Medics for 3 projects. I originally contacted them because I knew I had some storm damage on the house roof. Their sales representative, Mason, inspected the roof and took pictures. On his next appointment, he showed me the photos of what he found, which included concerns about my chimneys, which I knew was true from other workers who had been on the roof. He explained what the company craftsmen, who viewed the photos, recommended regarding repair of the chimneys, and, since the roof was over 20 years old, replacing the roof was recommended . Mason was very knowledgeable about the roofing products the company recommends, and I could tell by his detailed explanations that he knew what he was talking about and had experience. He explained how the work on the chimneys and roof would be done, in detail, and answered all my questions. I had him look at my front porch brick work, also, which badly needed repair, and the porch was added to the work to be done. He also showed me a roof vent collar sample, and a roof vent sample for the peak of the roof, and the timberline, 6 tab, 50 year shingles the company recommends. On his 3rd appointment I signed the contract and made a down payment. I was very pleased to be working with Mason, because he was friendly, genuinely cared about my home and my concerns, and was very pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. I felt very at ease and reassured that Mason was truthful and represented Exterior Medics in a very favorable way. Over the course of the work, I had several calls from Exterior Medics staff, Rebecca and Lauren, who kept me informed of scheduling of the work and asking if i had any questions or concerns, showing Exterior Medics' concern for their customers. The work on the chimneys was done on January 17 and 18, 2014 by Exterior Medics masons, Walter, and Delmar. They placed chimney caps on all the flues, chipped away the old cement on the top of the chimneys, which was worn away and badly cracked, and placed new cement on the top, flat surface of the chimneys, removed and replaced and repointed the mortar with new mortar. Walter told me that from marks on the chimney caps he had installed on Friday, that he could tell that a raccoon had tried to get into the chimney overnight. I had no idea raccoons were taking shelter in my chimney. Now they can't get in. The chimney project took 2 days in very cold and windy weather, and despite the cold, they took their time to do the work with patience and precision. The results look great. Next came the roof replacement on 27 January 2014. When the roofing crew removed the old shingles, they found that there were 120 linear feet of rotted wood, some near the storm damage, and some at the back of the center chimney and on the back porch area. They replaced the rotted wood with new planks, and Mason showed me photos of where the damaged wood was replaced. And he told me that the crew paid extra attention to those areas when they installed the leak barriers on the deck prior to installing the new shingles. On the edges of the roof they installed metal strips along the lip edges, so that moisture coming off the roof and onto the gutters could not get underneath the shingles and cause rot. They installed new flashing around the chimneys and new vent collars, as well as the Cobra Attic Ventilation Ridge Cap at the roof peak, which gives the attic better ventilation. The roofing crew was there all day despite the weather. The crew foreman, Cesar, had a crew of 6 or 7 men, and from my observation, they worked as a team, and were efficient, knowledgeable and skilled. Cesar and his team were polite and courteous to me as I walked around the house and watched them finish their work. They had put down tarps on my porch to collect scraps and debris, and they did a good job cleaning up the yard. The new roof looks great, and I'm relieved to have that worry off my mind. On 6 and 7 February 2014, masons Walter and Delmar returned to my house to repair my front porch. The porch was in bad shape with broken bricks on the porch steps and on supporting walls of the approximately 2 feet high porch walls. Much mortar cement was either cracked or missing. That they did this project in 2 days instead of one indicated to me that they intended to do a good and proper job in spite of having to work in the cold and wind.The porch looks so much better now that the broken bricks have been replaced and the old, cracked, loose, or missing mortar was removed and replaced with fresh, new mortar. I am very pleased with the work that Walter and Delmar did on the chimneys and the front porch, & the new roof. I am pleased to have found a company that I can trust to do good, quality work, uses quality products, who employ excellent staff and experienced craftsmen, and who care about their customer's satisfaction. I felt as though everyone at Exterior Medics treated my home as they would their own. I highly recommend Exterior Medics! read more

This is my second experience with Exterior Medics. The first was flawless, this one was OK. I had a roof vent cap blow off during our recent 50+ mile an hour winds. Because I had such a positive experience the first time I immediately called Exterior Medics. I explained to Lauren that the vent cap blew off and all I needed was someone to climb up there and put the cap back on. I made an appointment and assumed the cap would be replaced during the appointment. This visit however was to do a job survey. A few days later I received the quote - $600 dollars to put the cap back on. I said that is ridiculous for a 10-20 minute job. I asked for the cap back and I'll move on (they had taken the cap). Anyway 3-4 days later I received a call saying there had been a mistake and would I be willing to pay $190? I said yes. 1.5 weeks later the job was finally done. Bottom line is I will call them again for future work and I hope the third experience is as perfect as the first. read more
