I haven't received my cleaning yet, but I have been a pain in the butt to them and they really worked with me to try to accommodate me and all of my needs and I have to say they have fantastic customer service between the office and the management owner I have to commend them on their ability to keep trying to make people happy without being pushy. I just have to assume that based on these interactions and how friendly even when they're met with, maybe not the most friendly of people from the customer standpoint that they'll take care of you. They also seem very knowledgeable and very invested in making sure their community knows that even if they're not their person's number one choice, they still want to be helpful and information that they can provide. We were at first happy with the estimate, but it took a really really really long time to schedule. It's been about two months since we first contacted them. The communication could be better. I'm told they have a new system for appointments. When they did come they seemed efficient- 3 person crew. They were friendly. I can't really climb on the roof so I guess I can take their warranty and word the job was done right. In sum I think the communication could be better. I would not recommend Gutter Ethics (GE) to my worst enemy. I signed a contract with GE on 17 August 2024 to repair fire damage to my home. The scope of work included new siding/insulation, roof repairs, replacement of doors/windows, deck repairs, fence repairs, and some internal drywall repairs/painting. As of 5 January 2025, the work is not complete. The owner, Justin Stanley, told me the work would commence a couple weeks after signing the contract, but work did not start until 30 OCT. The work was scheduled for 3 days, and I was never told the work would extend beyond 3 days. It took GE 3 weeks and 2 days just to replace the siding, which is a 2-3 day job. I've caught the owner lying to me on numerous occasions about the status of materials and the overall status of the job. My experience has been extremely frustrating and Justin Stanley (owner) has conducted himself in a very unprofessional and dishonest manner. He knew from the beginning that work would not commence within weeks of signing the contract (as he claimed). When confronted with his dishonesty, he provides a rapid fire deluge of unbelievable excuses. His "Shucks Ma'am" manner of speech belies the fact he has no respect for his customers nor values their time. Throughout the process Justin has blamed every incompetence and inefficiency on delayed materials delivery. When I informed him I was considering legal action to get the scope of work completed, his response was, "You have no case. My contract states that I'm not responsible for delays in materials." I immediately understood that his strategy is to blame everything on "materials delays," because he thinks this protects him from legal action. Also of note, he uses a bread crumb strategy to prevent customers from taking action. He will provide partial service and then disappear until the customer complains. He will then return and provide additional partial service, and disappear again until the customer complains or threatens to take legal action. Four and a half months after signing the contract, I continue to battle to have the work completed. If you're looking to have your gutters cleaned or your roof repaired, you're probably going to be OK; but if your job requires any kind of project management or anything other than gutter/roof work, steer clear of this company! read more

I would like to thank gutter ethics for cleaning my gutters at the date and time requested being very thorough and for a follow up the next day for some debris left in the yard. I reached out to gutter ethics to have my gutters cleaned and with the Google discount, it was very reasonable for a large two-story house in North Arlington. The technician arrived on time and with care cleaned out all my gutters and downspouts. After the fact, some debris was noticed around the home and so the next day I had a follow up call from gutter ethics as to my satisfaction when I mentioned the debris, not being a big dealgutter ethics immediately sent their technicians back to complete of the home and remove any debris they found. While I have yet to have my gutters cleaned by Gutter Ethics, I have done a lot of research and as is common with contractors, price, and communication variations are a bit extreme. Justin at Gutter Ethics is extremely knowledgeable, kind, and friendly. While their cost is on the higher side compared to other companies, it's because they have the necessary, very expensive workman's comp insurance. A homeowner should *NEVER* allow anyone on their roof without it, so I am happy to pay a few extra dollars to ensure our assets are protected. I am pleased with my final decision to have Gutter Ethics perform our gutter cleaning and confident their work will reflect the same level of impressiveness as I've had in communication with them. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I had to this time because contractors and repair professionals are so terrible in this day and age, that when you find a quality establishment, I believe you need to promote them. Justin, the owner of Gutter Ethics is an incredibly busy business owner that came across as someone who really cared about the quality of the work above all else. It was clear from the outset that these guys were absolutely slammed with projects and are probably the most experienced roof installation experts in the Northern Virginia area. They came out and expertly inspected my roof on my newly purchased home, pointed out items that even our inspector missed, and took the time to understand my goal, which was to not have to worry about the roof for the next few years. So they did some repair work and preventative work. Their quote provided a detailed breakdown, they were not the cheapest, probably 10-15% more expensive than the competition, but I got what I paid for, dollar for dollar. I am an Industrial Engineer turned attorney and am very detail oriented, so was pleasantly surprised to find a company that thought along the same lines, meticulously documented their work, and really spent the time to make sure each repair was done right. I'm glad I found Justin when I did because my roof is too important a part of my house to mess around with low priced chop job type contractors. I just couldn't risk it and I'm so glad I didn't. Overall, quality service. I hope they can resolve the communications issue. - Upon first contact, the folks were super polite and professional over the phone. We scheduled a day for them to come look at our place and give an estimate for roof replacement and it was all good. The quote they gave us was the best out of all the places that we asked around, so we were very excited to work with them, especially since our next door neighbour also worked with them in the previous year to replace their roof. This was all in the summer. Most issues I have with this process were related to communications. They just keep failing to show up on the promised date without any notice. There is no email regarding why they fail to come, no email regarding the status of the process. When I called, I was told that they could not come because there was a supplier issue due to COVID, which I did not mind, since it was out of everyone's control. However, I asked that there would be some communications whenever there is a reschedule, but still I did not receive anything. When I called again, we gathered that it may be due to some error in the automated systems since I was supposed to receive the emails. Regardless, I did not mind rescheduling or delaying the process, but I wanted more active/frequent communications. Again, we rescheduled, and the folks failed to show up again. This continued until December. I am glad that they were able to grab hold of the supplier and come down to deliver the service. They also will do annual inspection. read more

I can't say enough good things about Justin Stanley and his company Gutter Ethics. We initially called Gutter Ethics because our builder-grade roof was 21 years old. We thought we'd have to shell out for the entire expense, but their innovation got much of the cost covered by our insurance company. Justin's roofer was attentive enough to notice wind damage and recommended we file a claim with our insurance company. They were even kind enough to show up the same day as the insurance adjuster and provide a ladder assist so the adjuster didn't need to rent one (hopefully contributing to the adjuster's good mood). I never would have thought of going through insurance, but after all was said and done, much of the cost was covered by insurance. (Skylights are really expensive and weren't covered by the insurance claim.) This alone got me on board with Gutter Ethics, but on top of this, Justin prides himself on his ethics, so the pricing was reasonable without worrying that corners were being cut. Justin also refused to install the roof on days that were too cold, too hot, or too wet, something that other roofing companies are willing to do. He was also responsive, patient, and thorough with my MANY questions. Justin's company uses top quality roofing materials (architectural shingles) which last 30-50 years, and at a price only incrementally higher than the standard shingles (about $500 more for my townhome roof). This more than pays itself off since a roof made with standard shingles needs to be replaced after 20 years. No matter which company you use, replacing your roof is going to be a pain in a butt. You have to work with the weather forecast, which is always changing, which means you'll probably get your installation rescheduled a few times if you're doing your installation during the rainy season. And if you have a skylight, it will be even more of a pain because the room immediately under the skylight effectively becomes part of the construction zone, so you'll want to move furniture out of the room. But despite these facts of life, Justin made this process as pleasant as possible. Not only would I use this company again, but I actually am using it again - to replace our portico over our front door! read more

The gutter ethics folks provided designs and the work was done to spec. The material and labor were costly, but work product has worked for past year. My solar panels were damaged, their roofer sent me a picture and swears he did not cause damage. I've paid to fix the shattered panel and cause of why panel shattered and roof underneath was not damaged may never be found. They offered to follow solar company onto roof and further document, but I'm leary of anyone on my roof. It's been a year since the work was done and no spontaneous damage to solar panels has occurred. read more

Within the same day of me posting the initial review Gutter Ethics phoned me. They gave me apologies and explained their men were chomping at the bit to get to work and that with all the rain he had had to repeat a million times to clients that the weather put them behind and he could get a little flat after so many times. UGH. 1. so what? management should do just that, manage employees to make sure they don't do things like show up too early. 2. so what? you have to say it a million times, that is your job. Waaaaaaa They advised us that they found issue with missing flashing on our 1 year old new build home's roof. Sent us pictures and all. Even a quote of just under 1k to do the work and offered to fix it for free for us! He even sent a youtube video of what they would do "in order that we could trust them to do the work". Alarm bells sounded. The kicker here is that he didn't tell us about our flashing issues until I posted the original reviews 4 days after they cleaned the gutters. Why not tell us ASAP? I called another roofing company in the local area and told them I needed an inspection on my roof as my home inspector for purchase would not get on the roof to inspect. He peeled back the shingles and found flashing behind them. That the layer of shingles in the pictures given to us by GE had an extra layer of shingles to mask the glare from metal flashing. He did say the exposed nail heads probably should be caulked and we could do that ourselves or pay them 500 bucks to do it. But recommended not doing it with them, as it didn't seem necessary. Hmmm....... makes it look as if Gutter Ethics, the Christian company was trying to buy a change in our 3 star review. Hmmmm..... you be the judge of that. read more

I needed my gutter cleaned and fixed in some areas. It was very easy to make the appointment and they work like other gutter cleaning companies (make an appointment and wait until you're next on the list.) They came about two or more weeks later and gave notice an email notice the day before. I showed the technician where i needed my gutters fixed and he stated he would try. I came home later and the down spout of my gutter was still broken, there were no notes or calls stating if he was coming back to finish fixing the problem. It no longer leaks so I'm happy about that. The invoice I got later only billed me for the cleaning anyways, so its okay. I never did see the pictures and video proof of my gutters though.... UPDATE**** (Original review was 4 stars) Justin called me personally and offered to fix the down spout for free, which I am thankful for. He suggested a computer error for the mix up with the down spout (large files that might of gotten lost in the outbox) and was very apologetic about it. Its not a big deal to me and told him he didn't have to come out, but he insisted on fixing the gutter for free. The workers who actually installed the roof were very nice; this star is for them. It was extremely difficult to schedule a quotation with the owner who is consistent in providing witty responses. I was also very disappointed that they delivered materials on to my roof without letting me know they were coming and this was a very disruptive event for my household and my neighbors as well. In addition to damages to my ceiling without any compensation apart from a message pointing to the conditions that clearly state no damages are the responsibility of the company (of course not!) they proceeded to trespass on my roof again. Without permission, or any notice apart from a voice message, they came back to get onto the roof a week after installation; this visit was not agreed upon. And more witty comments when I asked them why they would come over when we did not agree upon this, very disrespectful. read more
