I strongly urge anyone considering Duddies Automotive on Broad Street in Meriden, CT to stay far…read moreaway from this shop. Joe Duddie cost us our vehicle due to his negligence, and we were forced to take him to civil court, where a judge ordered him to return our payment. Despite this, Joe ignored the court's deadline, and even after I personally reached out and gave him an extra 24 hours to respond, he never replied. Joe Duddie is not the kind of person who takes accountability. He lies, leaves out critical information about the work he performs, and when things go wrong, he refuses to take responsibility. Just like others have shared in their reviews, our experience echoes a pattern of shady practices -- Joe performs faulty work that ends up ruining vehicles, and then refuses to inspect or correct his own mistakes. This is not an honest mechanic. Do not trust this man. Do not bring your vehicle here. There are plenty of reputable shops in the area that value integrity and customer service -- Duddies Automotive is not one of them. and still no payment has been received even after being ordered by the court.

While I acknowledge that car washes may not always achieve a 100% clean car, this particular one does a decent job. However, I wish the consistency in their power washing prep technique was improved. Additionally, SUVs have a higher roofline, making it impossible for them to reach the top and towel dry the entire car. It would be great if they had a two-step stool to facilitate thorough drying of the entire vehicle.

10/11/22 Nelson's Automotive is a well established, long time repair business in Wallingford, now…read morein its second location the past several years after moving to this North Plains Highway location from their beginnings on East Center Street. I've been coming to them for my periodic emissions testing for many years, starting when they were at their previous location. I decided that when my Nissan pickup truck needed any sort of repairs I'd bring it to them. I called a few days ago to arrange having the brakes serviced on my truck. When I called, I was greeted by a friendly voice of a young woman whe gave me a day to bring it in. On that day, I went to the service window and that young lady greeted me and said she'd give me a call later that day when they could tell me what the cost would be and when it would be completed. Later that day she phoned and told me the amount of the bill and said the job would be completed by end of the day. The price wasn't cheap (I wasn't expecting it to be), but I'm more concerned with quality & value. I told her that I arranged to pick it up the following morning, if that was ok. A little later that day she phoned once again to let me know the work was completed, just for my information. I appreciate that they communicate so well with their customers, and I'm very satisfied with the work they did. I learned just now from the owner's response that I can have my oil & filter changed while I wait, with an appointment made in advance. So I'm upping my review to five stars! Thank you Nelson's Automotive for your reliability, fair prices and good value.

Granted, I choose to use synthetic rather than normal and my make/model and mileage may factor in somehow. With that being said I do think it is worth the extra cost to come to Valvoline. The total time to drive behind Citgo into the Valvoline garage, park your car, have them do their thing, and then pull out takes anywhere between 10-20 minutes. The employees here are very efficient and work well together while not sacrificing professionalism and friendliness! The one thing they will for sure up-sell you on is the $40 cabin air filter swap. Just go to the auto parts store around the corner and change it yourself for $10-20 dollars (really easy to do and won't harm your car if you "mess up"). You also never leave your car and don't wait in a room drinking stale coffee while morning trash TV is playing in the background. And they're open Sundays!
