After stopping at a rest stop to find it clearly messed up (hot as hell, brake seemingly stuck down) i got off at the next exit and they were the first garage i stumbled upon. Well, after several misfires I decided to go back to where I know people will not rip me off and came back. They now have an online appointment request form which is pretty easy to navigate and I got my request approved quickly, which isn't an easy feat as they are always busy. They still offer the same amenities (coffee, hand sanitizer) and touchpads/keyless drop off for COVID-19 compliance. This time I didn't tell them I go to local med school and they still treated me fairly, which I appreciated. There was a mix up at the front desk because there were two similar cars, one needed filters and tires replaced and I, knowing from my maintenance schedule, needed my rear brakes and oil filter replaced (among other things but those were the big ones). After telling me I didn't need both cabin and oil filters replaced, one of the workers came back and told me I did, by *bringing my air filters to me in the lobby where other patrons were waiting*, telling me "it's time to be replaced". It was weird because it felt like he was shaming me for not maintaining my car after someone else had a conversation with me about not needing that part fixed. I told him that I will do whatever I need to do in order to get my car running well, but told him about the mix up conversation I had and he was pretty rude to me about it. Ultimately, I paid for all the recommended repairs here even though I was quoted cheaper elsewhere because I like John, since I first met them, him and his team have always been kind and honest with me and I want to support local businesses. However, I was just, more than anything, really hurt by what happened. Maybe they just have a lot of customers being very rude/reactionary when it comes to servicing, but that's not me and it never has been. I know I haven't been here in two years but I still recommend JP to everyone who asks for a quality shop. I honestly still recommend JP, but I will probably talk to Paul or Art next time. Pros: Honest shop, off the highway, takes payment over the phone, covid compliance Cons: Gets swamped quickly, may take a while to get your appointment/finish repairs. They're also great at inspecting any vehicle we're considering buying and have saved us from some bad mistakes. We're able to make appointments and drop it off first thing and get it back later in the day. If we have an emergency and call, they are usually able to squeeze us in. Apparently because I have breasts, I don't know anything about my vehicle. Believe me if I'm paying for a car and for service on said car, I'm going to know everything about my car. Going over by 300 miles was going to put my car in the danger zone. The amount of upselling I had to avoid was ridiculous. I don't want an engine flush, radiator flush, transmission flush, fuel line flush, fuel injector flush...the car has ~34k miles on it. Just change the oil and let me leave. Although I did only go in for an oil change, I'm glad they pointed out the other issues. We both got a coupon for a free car wash, which we didn't use because of the rain.
