Well, after several misfires I decided to go back to where I know people will not rip me off and came back. They now have an online appointment request form which is pretty easy to navigate and I got my request approved quickly, which isn't an easy feat as they are always busy. They still offer the same amenities (coffee, hand sanitizer) and touchpads/keyless drop off for COVID-19 compliance. This time I didn't tell them I go to local med school and they still treated me fairly, which I appreciated. There was a mix up at the front desk because there were two similar cars, one needed filters and tires replaced and I, knowing from my maintenance schedule, needed my rear brakes and oil filter replaced (among other things but those were the big ones). After telling me I didn't need both cabin and oil filters replaced, one of the workers came back and told me I did, by *bringing my air filters to me in the lobby where other patrons were waiting*, telling me "it's time to be replaced". It was weird because it felt like he was shaming me for not maintaining my car after someone else had a conversation with me about not needing that part fixed. I told him that I will do whatever I need to do in order to get my car running well, but told him about the mix up conversation I had and he was pretty rude to me about it. Ultimately, I paid for all the recommended repairs here even though I was quoted cheaper elsewhere because I like John, since I first met them, him and his team have always been kind and honest with me and I want to support local businesses. However, I was just, more than anything, really hurt by what happened. Maybe they just have a lot of customers being very rude/reactionary when it comes to servicing, but that's not me and it never has been. I know I haven't been here in two years but I still recommend JP to everyone who asks for a quality shop. I honestly still recommend JP, but I will probably talk to Paul or Art next time. Pros: Honest shop, off the highway, takes payment over the phone, covid compliance Cons: Gets swamped quickly, may take a while to get your appointment/finish repairs. I scheduled an appointment, but then accidentally no-showed it due to a household communication breakdown so I didn't have the vehicle. When I called back weeks later to reschedule, there was zero guilt-tripping. No passive-aggressive comments. Just patience and understanding, and we set a new date. The work itself was excellent. They repaired the rim same-day so I wouldn't have to buy an entirely new one, handled the tire mount and balance, and the alignment. The cost was a tiny fraction of what the Porsche dealer quoted, and the car drives flawlessly again. However, what stands out most is how these guys operate when things get a bit complicated. The day of the appointment, I showed up a little late after dropping my daughter to daycare. Then I failed to mention at dropoff that I needed the car back by 5:15 to pick her up in Orange. By the time I did share that constraint, it was already 3pm. I went into worst case scenario planning mode and showed up to just grab the car seat from their shop at 4:30 and figure out the rest by getting an uber. When I arrived, they told me they had put two techs on the car after I called, and the car was already finished. I was, and still am, blown away by how they went above and beyond to help me when it was my mistake. That showed to me that these are people who care about their customers. Instead they were honest and said they could fix it for a very fair price. So when I had another incident I went straight there. They checked over the damage and unfortunately it was a bit more tis time but still less than other companies. I dropped off my car and when I picked it up it looked like new. And here is the best part they even cleaned the interior!! I certainly did not expect this. All the dog hair was gone. It's beautiful. I never expected such great service. Within 20, maybe 30 minutes the truck arrived. I explained to the driver what we thought the issue was. He asked if he could take a look at it before hooking up. What we all thought was the starter turned out to be a loose connection on the battery. Driver fixed it on the spot and saved us a tow and time off the road that the truck would have needed to get fixed. We were back up and running within 30 minutes. It's hard to find companies that don't take advantage of situations just to make a buck. The driver and the company understand the struggles of the everyday worker and small businesses.
