Example 1 - the Audi dealer said my wife's Audi Q5 needed a valve cover gasket and a breather hose. Ceasar's determined that the valve cover gasket was fine, and that the breather had leaked a few drops of oil onto it and made it look like it was leaking. The dealership would have just gone ahead and done this pretty expensive job which wasn't needed. Example 2 - my daughter's Honda CRV was having idling issues. Cesar's determined that it was the ECU and the NOXX sensor. They sourced a less expensive computer board and got her back up in a short period of time. Before that, my daughter had taken it to a random roadside garage when the problem first started because she was nervous about it, and they had quoted her all kinds of unnecessary repairs. I called them a couple times and talked to them and explained that that was a bit excessive. After I did some research we could have had it done at the dealership for $200 less with a year warranty. They told me that the labor charge they go by a book. So another words if it takes them an hour and the book says up to 3 hours that is what you paying. they did mark the part up a bit too and knew they would. I believe honesty will keep people coming back. They just lost me as a customer and they lost a new customer that could have been going back. I like to support small businesses but not if they charge more then the dealer for a repair. They were nice talking to me, but overcharge. Honesty can go a long way. They told us our alternator was dead, so they replaced it. Charged us a good amount of money which we thought was a little bit on the expensive side but they gave us a warranty so we had that to fall back on. At least that's what we thought... Not even six months later, and our alternator failed again which led us to think that maybe they had a defective alternator so we called back to see if we can get into the warranty that they promised us, and basically had to beg them to honor their warranty, which seemed very sketchy and just unprofessional for me. They charged us the parts plus the labor cost when a lot of shops waive the labor because of the warranty and only have the customer pay the parts. Unfortunately, this was not one of the shops. Not even three months later, and the car failed again so I decided to take matters into my own hands and change the alternator and the battery so that way they wouldn't be any failure of the charging system with both parts being brand new. That only lasted for about 2 to 3 weeks, so after being fed up with this issue, I decided to take it to the Toyota dealership which told me that the alternator connector was severed, the pins were damaged and misaligned which caused the alternator to fail. Two years, Four alternators, three batteries and $10,000 later I am now hoping that my car will be fixed tomorrow so I can finally drive it. It is a shame that AAA allows for these kind of shops to continue providing service without any sort of checks or balances, because something as simple as a connector could've been inspected and repaired. Then again, Toyota mentioned that they have only seen BAD MECHANICS sever connectors and wires. There's a reason this place less than 50 reviews.
